I am reassured that they know him very well and have his best interests at the forefront of his care, comfort and activities. He tells me he feels at home and is well looked after. The atmosphere is calm and the activities are appropriate. They are led by a lovely staff member. He enjoys the food and praises the kitchen staff - she knows what he likes and is aware of what he is eating. His clothes are well laundered and looked after.
My mother is a resident in Belhaven and before she came to live there she spent 2 years lying in bed sleeping and had to use a walking frame to get to the bathroom ,since moving to Belhaven she has started getting up everyday and taking walks outside she no longer uses a frame ,she has been helping to garden she also goes out of her room most day to join in the activities ,her mobility has improved greatly and her mental health has improved because of the stimulation she is getting and she is talking more ,before this she wasn't interested in having any interaction with anyone not even family now she is like a different person ,I can't praise the staff highly enough they are all so friendly and whatever we ask it's never a bother ,I wish all elderly dementia patients had this type of care ,as a family we are so great full to everyone involved in my mums care.
Belhaven House is more than a care home, it is my Mum's home. Management and staff are welcoming and friendly and take a real interest in each resident as an individual. My Mum is well cared for, her personal hygiene and health care needs are met to a very high standard. Alongside my visits, staff maintain regular contact with me and inform me of any changes or concerns regarding her care needs. Staff know the residents and work so hard to include residents in stimulating and uplifting activities. The home has regular visits from a hairdresser which my Mum thoroughly enjoys, as well as singers, musicians and animal owners with their dogs, rabbits and ducks! Mum celebrated her 86th birthday this month and everyone made a fuss of her with a cake and gifts, the home really do provide a homely, family environment. I always feel comfortable speaking to the staff and they make us feel really welcome when we visit.
My aunt has been a resident at this care facility for last two months and can say that the care and thoughtfulness by all staff has been of a very high standard of care for her at this time in her life when she had to adjust from living within her own home ,spending period of time in hospital and moving into care facility . Am very pleased that there are entertainment and weekly interaction meetings with residents and items are displayed on notice board advising of what's happening in week ahead . Overall I would say that with the help of all staff this has helped her to be able to become more settled in these changed circumstances and given myself and my family a level of peace and comfort knowing that the care she is receiving is of a very high standard ..
Visited my mum over a 5 day period and on each visit was greeted by a staff member always welcoming and shown to a suitable room to chat with mum. Mum is well looked after and in a happy environment. Her room is clean and tidy and well maintained. Staff and management are very attentive and its good to see mum in comfortable, safe surroundings which gives me peace of mind.
My father moved into this residence in April after a long period of being unsafe in his own home. I live in America & have been worried about his risk to fall & personal hygiene for a while. The home is spotlessly clean & well managed. The staff could not be nicer. The food is outstanding. The manager provides an individualized approach to each of the residents needs. One staff member in particular makes sure the residents are entertained & space for socializing. I could not have more peace of mind. God bless them all.
My mother entered Belhaven under emergency circumstances after a fall. Management went above and beyond to ensure a warm and welcoming environment to mum, and provided comfort to our family as well in very difficult circumstances. Staff were quick to learn our names, and to get to know us as well as mum. On visits we always noticed the staff interacting warmly with the residents, and any time we had a question or mum needed something, staff were always quick to respond. The activities leader is a real delight, and works very hard to involve all the residents in the various events and activities she plans with great enthusiasm. When mum had some health issues, steps were taken quickly, and family kept up to date with the measures being put in place. Thank you to all at Belhaven for looking after mum so well.
After a fall in her home when my sister hit her head and following a visit by ambulance crew, I was advised by the medics that my sister should not be left alone for at least the next 24 hours. As both her daughters live overseas and I live in Glasgow, I was struggling to find a way to satisfy these requirements. Fortunately Manager at Belhaven agreed to admit my sister under Emergency Respite Care. On entering Belhaven that evening, Belhaven staff immediately took my sister to her room and took care of her. When my sister entered Belhaven she was very confused (she had early stage dementia) and although the medics had cleaned my sister's wound, her hair was matted and her clothes were stained with blood. The next day when I visited she was looking great - staff had given her a full wash, her hair was clean and she was wearing fresh clothes. I cannot praise the manager and her staff enough for the care and kindness provided to my sister.
Very pleased with the care Mum receives. She is always treated well and there is a happy ethos in the care home. Staff always professional and show kindness and care to all residents.
On behalf of my mother and myself, I am happy to confirm this year has been the most positive year that I have witnessed. Every member of staff give their very best care and attention in every department. Also, the care home is now a warm and inviting place to visit with beautiful dining and sitting rooms to relax. It is comforting to know mother is happy and well cared for.
I wish to commend Belhaven House staff and management in all aspects of care. The care given to my sister is exceptional and I also note visiting regularly that the residents are given care and respect also staff are mindful of residents' privacy. My sister has progressed immensely, especially in the past few weeks where she has been encouraged to join in the entertainment days and now mixes with other residents each day, she has made friends, is very relaxed in her environment. The new management has made a huge positive impact on Belhaven and I note staff seem more relaxed and happy. The activities coordinator is an asset to Belhaven and is responsible for the entertainment for residents. She has a light-hearted and happy personality which is ideal for the position she holds. I wish to also include one of the lead staff who is always willing to assist and has a friendly and happy manner, she keeps me up to date with my sister's progress. Thank you Belhaven staff and management for a well-run care home.
The level of care given to my husband, I cannot thank the staff enough. They are wonderful. All the staff and management have saved his life with their prompt actions on more than one occasion. I am consulted and included in all decisions. I would highly recommend both this care home and the staff to anyone.
I cannot thank and praise the staff and management enough for the care given to my husband. When necessary, I am contacted on decisions and fully informed of any necessary medical treatment is required. I am always made warmly welcomed when visiting. I know he is safe, which gives me comfort in this difficult situation. I am eternally grateful to all the staff for looking after him and caring for him so very considerably, kindly, and lovingly. God Bless them all.
I have found Belhaven House to be very welcoming, friendly, caring place for my sister to live. The team provide the safety and security or the residents need.
My father in law was nursed in Belhaven during the last months of his life and the care and kindness shown was second to none and I cannot thank the staff enough especially a small blonde nurse on nightshift whose patience and caring loving attitude astounded me, I think she worked agency or bank and along with her and the rest of the staff my father in law had a very peaceful and dignified death.
