View Full Details of Fairways Newydd Nursing and Dementia Care CentreMy husband has a lovely room and all the staff are very caring and friendly. The food all seems to be very good and there is always plenty of drinks and snacks overall I am happy that my husband has settled in and seems content.
I am very pleased with the way my mother is being looked after. She is always very clean and she has a large and very bright room. She's well fed and seems to be happy. The staff are pleasant and very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Not too pleased with the laundry, her jumpers have been spoilt and shrunk, that's the only complaint!
My sister has been at Fairways Newydd for around two months. The managers of the home and the staff have been absolutely wonderful. My sister's situation was a difficult entry but has been handled with such empathy, care and support. We cannot recommend Fairways Newydd, the staff and the facilities enough. Nothing is too much and the support they offer to relatives is first class. Thank you for all that you do. I am reserving a room for when it is my turn!!
My sister has been at Fairways Newydd for approx. a year & a half. I live some distance away but visit regularly and feel I now know both the home and it's staff. From the moment you enter you are made to feel welcome by a staff who are positive & committed to the care and wellbeing of their residents. The building is well maintained and constantly being renovated/improved. The changes make it feel less sterile and more homely but that doesn't mean cleanliness is overlooked. The housekeeping team keep the place spotless, constantly washing the corridor floors, cleaning resident's rooms & public areas. They look smart & without exception are cheerful & friendly. The carers & nursing team show a kindness & patience that is a credit to their professions. Whilst I'd love to mention names, the guidelines of this survey prevent it. The number of residents & their complex needs does, however, mean that they are always busy & sometimes unable to spend as much time with each resident as they would wish.
My dad has been at Fairways since January 2025.He has found the change from his own home difficult .His wife of 70 years died in February. All this has been quite traumatic for the whole family. The staff at Fairways have been absolutely brilliant. The care has been outstanding.Staff treat my dad with dignity and kindness.Everyone is pleasant and cheerful. They have made my dad's life so.much more meaningful . I can't praise them enough.
The staff at Fairways gave mum a lovely warm welcome when she arrived and went out of their way to get her involved in the activities. The staff were always friendly, warm, caring, welcoming and helpful and we couldn't have found a nicer place for mum. The home has a very welcoming and homely atmosphere, it's beautifully clean and there are always staff available to talk to for help and advice. Mum was very well looked after and we can't thank them enough for their care of her.
My brother has been a resident at Fairways Newydd Nursing and dementia home for a few years now, his care needs are complex and his condition progressive. The care he receives is great, the staff are kind, caring, respectful and treat him with dignity and compassion. Despite having to be fed now, he really enjoys the food which is nutritious and wholesome. The home is clean and bright. Whenever we visit, we are always made to feel welcome by all of the staff. We are truly grateful to them all.
Our experience is very good, she loves her dinners.
I am very happy with the care my mum is receiving.
Wonderful, dedicated and professional staff who make all the difference in the lives of their residents. They keep our family well-informed about our loved one and are very proactive in conveying important information to us in a timely manner and are very responsive to our requests. Dad is safe, secure and well cared for, which gives us peace of mind.
When arriving at Fairways as always a warm welcome is to be had by the receptionist, and the wonderful nurses are always on hand and available to answer any concerns I have and act instantly. The staff on Hafan are friendly and always ready to comply to any requests I have. As I visit on a Wednesday and Sunday I have noticed more staff available mid week. Attention definitely needs to be made to the activities as what is shown on the board dairy doesn't happen. In my experience but I understand this has now been resolved. I am not familiar with management as I rarely see them.
Very happy the way mum is cared for.
I have been coming to Fairways for 3 1/2 years now. I have always found the carers, nurses, reception and management so helpful and supportive. Nothing is too much trouble. I will continue coming knowing I will be welcome and helped at all times.
Asked for a breakdown of charges, how much it costs to look after my father, ie weekly food, cost of two staff to get him out of bed into his chair in the morning and back again in the evening, basic cost for his room, (electric, water etc) but I was refused the information by the manager at Fairways newydd, refused to pay the cost of my father's stay there until we get the breakdown, cost quoted on the 26th of February 25 was £1011 less the local health board payment, they now want £1355 including the health board payment of £218 a week, now they are giving my father a letter to quit the home unless we pay, we will pay if we get the breakdown which they are refusing to give manger was abrupt and put the phone down on me when I asked for the third or fourth time forva breakdown of costs, it seems to charging us for dementia care which my father hasn't got, the council pay just over £1100 less the health board payment of £218 why is my father singled out for such a big difference.
Welcoming and kind staff.
When I visit my husband, the staff always ask how I am and ask if I need help, as I am disabled myself. There's always a warm welcome from the front door until you reach the resident's room.
Fantastic care, brilliant staff, and nothing is too much trouble. No smell to home all fresh clean. Staff all happy in work making time to say hello. The receptionist was excellent, lovely, kind and caring. Phone calls were returned as promised. I highly recommend this home and KW unit, extra special staff!
Fairways is the most wonderful, amazing place. Excellent care, the staff take time with Mum and nothing is too much trouble. I cannot find anything negative to say! Brilliant!
Mum got ill in the summer and needed urgent care and we were lucky enough to phone Fairways Newydd. We were immediately offered advice and support and a bed was made available for a respite stay. The manager gave us so much time despite mum not being a permanent resident. She is wonderful, kind, warm, funny and knowledgeable. I immediately felt relaxed and knew mum was in safe hands. Her leadership skills clearly filter down as all the staff are amazing. They are so patient and caring and good at their jobs. Everyone went above and beyond to make mums stay pleasurable. The rooms are excellent and the food is delicious. I cannot fault Fairways Newydd and would be happy for her to become a permanent resident. Wonderful experience.
