My mum gets nursing and dementia care in this facility. Following an illness and stay in hospital my mum was sent to a D2A access bed in a private care home. I was traumatised by the process, accommodation and care, and knew I needed to get her moved as soon as possible. I found Broughton House following a wide search of care homes, most of which were very similar to where she was. My mum was eligible because my father had served in the army. From the minute I stepped into the place it felt completely different. The manageress was helpful and sympathetic and following a visit I got her moved there as quickly as I could. The staff, who do an incredibly difficult job, are lovely, the rooms are clean and the food they serve is varied and tasty. They put on plenty to keep the residents occupied. She has been there for nearly two years now and even though her health and memory continue to decline, she is thriving. It's given me peace of mind she is safe and well cared for.
We originally used Broughton house as a 2 week respite and I chose the place due to its veteran connection. As we needed a break as a family. Originally reluctant to stay. When I returned to pick him up it was clear he had loved his stay and the staff loved him. At one of the younger residents at 47 then.. the home had a modern feel whilst being open and spacious with lots of activities to do. 6 months later when I made the horrid decision to look for a residential place full time there was no other options for me than Broughton house. No other place could meet my brothers needs and I have not been disappointed. With advanced dementia my brother struggles to articulate himself but I can tell he is settled. And it has been a lifeline for me knowing they look after him well and he's safe They continue to review each stage and adapt his care package to support him and keep him as active as possible. Everyone from the two members of staff on reception to the director are always friendly
What a wondeful place and I can't recommend it enough. Dad has dementia and needs alot of care and support and has settled in so well thanks to all the nursing and care staff, he is treated with so much dignity. All the staff are amazing from the carers, nurses, kitchen staff, cleaners, admin team, managers, volunteers and the ladies on reception, everybody is so friendly and helpful. The building actually doesn't feel like the usual carehomes and has been designed so well. There is fabulous military museum in main reception area and we often bring dad down for a coffee or take him out in their lovely well kept garden. There is even a beautiful park not far away that we wheel dad to. Dad's room is lovely and spacious and everything is always so clean. He loves the food and attending events from singers, to Remembranace day occasions and parties on New Years Eve. I've always felt so welcome at Broughton House and the main thing is dad is happy there.
Everything has been excellent. My mother has been well looked after. Any concerns have been dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner. The variety of foods available is good and most of the time is suitable for my mum.
My experience of Broughton House is that they have, quite literally, saved our family life. We could no longer cope with leaving Dad at home, it was destroying us all physically & mentally. We had been turned away from so many other care providers due to his complex needs and alcohol dependency. Dad has become much calmer and less angry and is much more pleasant to be around. Broughton House anticipate and are geared up for every eventuality they are simply brilliant, from director to the domestic and kitchen staff we cannot speak highly enough. Thank you BH.
Having made the difficult decision to give up his independence, my father wanted to find a care home that understood his military background and where he had the best chance of having life experience in common with other residents. He spent a lot of time checking the website, brochure and Annual Report (it's a registered charity too) and we found it all very reassuring. Broughton House not only 'gets' the whole military thing, but they celebrate it with great respect. We have all been so impressed by Broughton House! The team are outstanding - so caring, professional and going the extra mile, always with a smile and a friendly chat. The facilities available are excellent and everything is impressively clean and well run. Local representatives of the Navy, Army, RAF and cadet forces visit regularly and support the formal occasions like Remembrance Day - a real boost for the veterans and something my father especially appreciates. Dad made a very good choice!
Everybody who works at Broughton House are friendly caring and families feel like one big happy family. There are plenty of activities for the for the residents and families to join in. When you go home you know your relative is in safe hands and being looked after. I have every trust leaving my relative here the cleanliness and the meals are prepared by Chefs and the residents do have a choice of what's on the Menu Cannot fault BH for their dedication to all residents.
Everything about Broughton House is 5 star that says it all. I have been associated with Broughton House since the early 80s the care and support they offer is 1st class . My mum is a resident and enjoys the care and friendship she is receiving from everyone
Mum first became a resident of Broughton House when she was discharge from hospital for assessment in March 2022, she latterly became a permanent self-funding resident in September of the same year. Mum has a mixed Alzheimer's and Dementia diagnosis and initially she would ask when she was going home which is something that most people with this diagnosis do. Fortunately the staff are very sympathetic and supportive of mum and despite her early concerns, not understanding fully what was happening, she has now settled in well. The care staff and management teams appear well organised and clearly understand the various requirements of all the residents. It is comforting to us to know mum is being well looked after and her needs are being met.
Pleasant staff, exceptional care, outstanding accommodation and facilities. Good dietary care for residents. Care and consideration given especially to those experiencing early and late onset of dementia.
Broughton House is a wonderful place for residents and the attention to care and getting to personally know each resident is outstanding. each part of the home, rooms, dinning area, reception and the garden is maintained to a very high standard. i would have no hesitation to recommend this home and we as a family feel so luckily to have our Dad as a resident
Quite simply the best care home I have ever come across. The care is excellent and the staff go the extra mile. They have great activities for the residents and make the effort to personalise the care. It is always clean and welcoming. In particular there is great understanding of the ex military mindset and ability to respond to the need for a routine. The food is good, the staff are caring and it has been home from home for my Dad and given me great peace of mind. The leadership is excellent.
My son was a resident of Broughton House for over 2 years (almost). On his death and also the care he received previously, was very good. It has it's hiccups but that was expected. The week beginning his death was a lovely experience with all the staff. They were brilliant. They all made it easier than it would have been. Thank you all very much.
I have been a resident for six months and I have been extremely pleased with all aspects of the home. The staff are very kind, caring and competent. It's like a home from home.
My father moved to Broughton House in November 2023, having been discharged from hospital, having been poorly treated and cared for by the previous home he resided in. His move to Broughton house was such relief, as my father's dementia was worsening by the day, however the staff at Broughton House went above and beyond to accommodate and look after my father, for which I can not thank them enough. My Father sadly passed away in July of 2024 and again all the staff could not do anymore to make him as comfortable as they could, again for which I am extremely grateful. Again relating back to my father's first care home and Broughton house, there was no comparison, Broughton House are in a league of there own with regards to both facilities and care. Thank you
My husband came, initially, for respite care. We were so impressed with the facilities, staff and surroundings that we made his stay permanent. The building is not like a typical/traditional care home. There is no cooking or any unpleasant smells, the whole place has a thoughtful, 'cared for' atmosphere. Staff are kind, efficient, respectful and professional.
My husband enjoyed his time at Broughton House. He loved the care the staff gave, the facilities and the food.
Management gave my very sick 83-year-old, mother with Alzheimer's, 28 days' notice to leave. This was clearly self-preservation, from the family logging too many complaints - Broughton House is under review by social services for breaching safeguarding policies. Staff informed me, that they had been engineering complaints about my family, to help remove my mother. Management also made threats to the family, leaving us vulnerable. The family are no threat whatsoever, it's all engineered by the management who only care about show-casing the home. Behind those lift doors, it's a different story. My mother broke the same wrist twice, in a 16-week period, due to neglect. Staff unable to confirm how she broke it. The first time, she was left for 3 weeks before going to A&E for an X-ray, where it was confirmed broken. Hostility from staff is unbearable, leaving my mother in tears on visits and family not wanting to visit, due to the atmosphere. The multitudinous falls, cuts and bruises my mother has encountered, have been devastating.
Well-maintained facility with friendly and efficient staff caring for the residents. Keep up the good work!
Care for Dad exceptionally well - Dad has dementia. Not enough staff though. High turnover - different all the time.
