View Full Details of Brookdale Care HomeMy mother came into Brookdale after being in hospital. She needed further care to help with her recovery. Every member of staff we met were amazing, very polite, nothing was too much trouble. I was worried at first thinking she wudnt settle, but we had no problems at all she even said she enjoyed herself. I would definitely recommend Brookdale to my friends & family and would have no hesitation to bring her again. Thank you for making her stay a happy one..
I'm always so happy to visit my grandad in Brookdale, the staff are so lovely and welcoming. They are always upbeat, professional and provide wonderful care to the residents here. I particularly enjoy coming on a Sunday for the lunch in the coffee shop, it provides a more intimate visit with your loved one and the food is always top quality at a great price. The rooms and public areas are always spotlessly clean and my grandad is very well looked after by all staff. Thank you, Brookdale.
A friend had been a resident of Brookdale for a few months now and it's been brilliant. The staff are friendly and approachable. They treat the residents with the up most care at all times and the residents are always smiling. The facilities are fantastic from a small cafe to get tea and cake that's decorated beautifully to all the activities on a weekly basis. There's something for all of the residents to enjoy! Even visitors are made to feel welcome. Great place for those that need that little extra help.
My dad has been resident at Brookdale for five and a half years. During that time there has been the pandemic, changes in staff, leadership and ownership, but the quality of care has never diminished. Communication is a strength as is the quality of care and knowledge and understanding of the residents. A real effort is made to provide engaging activities to suit all preferences and families are enabled to feel like genuine partners to in their relative's care. When dad is confused, the staff are loving and caring, and when he is grumpy, patient and kind. Every time we visit, dad tells us that he is happy, and that is the measure of how well he is cared for.
I moved my friend here from another care home in March. After just 24hrs I noticed a big change in him. He's not mithering me to take him out all the time as he's happy staying in with all the entertainment going on in Brookdale. He's so happy now and it's really good to see. The difference here is the staff care and look after the residents at all times. It's great I love the place. Well done to the office admin and all the staff. You all do a great job and are very caring.
Our Mum has been a resident here since September 2023. Initially we had no communication from Brookdale to tell us what was expected from us, as relatives and, as this was all new to us, we felt as though some communication from the home could have helped us all - it was almost non existent. More recently, however, changes seem to have been made. Lines of communication are excellent and we are very happy with the care shown to our Mum. The staff seem kind and patient and Mum (for the most part) seems very settled. On entering Brookdale we are always greeted with a smile and staff members are always on hand to assist. We feel reassured that the staff at Brookdale do all they can to make our Mum's time there as comfortable as possible - and that makes us, as her family, very grateful.
Our Mum sadly passed away in February, having entered the home in October 2024. I wanted to note the care and compassion shown to her in her last few weeks - which were very difficult. Knowing that, when we weren't there, we had absolute confidence that she was being cared for was a huge comfort. In such difficult moments, we were treated with absolute kindness by every member of staff.
Care staff very good but as my brother is very deaf and can only see big print he gets bored. New weekly emails helpful. His room is dark and small but as he is hardly in there, its important. I would like to be notified if the funds he has at the home run low. His account went into the red but I didn't know.
So much goodness caring and compassion we have recently received, and over the past year and a half, has been outstanding. All the people at Brookdale really care. They treat the residents and their relatives with respect.
Lovely staff who look after my aunty with such care and kindness, thank you to all the staff for everything you do. One staff member took me over to the dementia unit to see the coffee shop which is amazing and showed me the menu and activities that the residents can do.
The staff are lovely and care for my Nan so wonderfully. three ladies especially just make my nans day. I love having my lunch with her and the care home makes that possible. They keep us regularly updated with the activities they do and photos and videos are always being posted. Couldn’t ask for more.
First impressions when we came to visit was as soon as we entered, we knew this was the place for our mum. The staff answered all our queries, making it a smooth transition for Mum and us, to have peace of mind that the care and the home were right. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, all the staff smile (even when they are having a rubbish day themselves). Overall, the family are pleased that Mum is being cared for with respect and dignity.
My mother was a resident from mid-October 2023, she died in the home on 2nd Jan 2024. My experiences of the care are mixed. The senior staff generally had little or no time for us and we felt they were unapproachable. The junior staff on the whole were lovely and very helpful. I did not trust that my mother was being fed regularly or given enough to drink, and being left in bed for long periods in the day. One time we visited the care quality inspector was talking to me and the senior staff were ever so nice giving me updates on my mother. The next day in the absence of the Inspector we were ignored yet again. Since my mother died I have not heard from the management of the home. No condolences have been offered. I would not recommend Brookdale.
I just wanted to share my recent experiences of the service they give to my mother. She is in the dementia care unit and unfortunately has been unwell recently, resulting in visits to A&E with long waits. On every occasion, they always ensure a carer stays with my mother, until either sent back or admitted. As I live over 2 hours drive away, it is always good to know this. As she wasn’t well, I drove up twice this week, the first time she was in A&E so I witnessed how the carers interacted with her. I am not sure if we can name them but two staff members in particular were both great at keeping Mum settled and calm. Finally, what they do in the way of activities, the cleanliness of the home, standards of food and are all to be commended.
My father-in-law has always been a fiercely independent person but was struggling on his own to take care of himself and often refused the help that home carers offered and was depressed and forgetting to eat due to delirium and dementia. However, following yet another spell in hospital, he was persuaded to consider moving into residential care for his own safety. We stayed away for a few days so that the staff could help him to settle in and to our surprise, when we next visited, he looked happy and well and the staff reported that he was enjoying the food. He really likes the staff and enjoys their company. It is apparent to us that the staff are extremely caring and go out of their way to make the residents comfortable.
Without doubt Brookdale must be at least one of the top care homes in UK. All the staff without exception are exemplary, they are friendly and know your name and always make you feel very welcome. Chose this care home because my mum was the happiest there (it is a 32 mile round trip unfortunately). Everyone is so friendly and loving towards my mum. I always know she is in good hands and safe. Keep up the good work guys, you should be proud of yourselves.
My mother moved into Brookdale one week before her 100th birthday, suffering from delirium and dementia, very distressed, agitated and refusing to stay. We stayed away for a few days for her to settle in. The staff were extremely patient and caring and we were relieved to see her smiling on a video of celebrating her 100th birthday. Each time we visited or phoned, the staff were welcoming and ready to tell us how Mum was doing. The care Mum received, when at times agitated and uncooperative, was excellent and we were confident she was being well looked after.
In December 2021, my 99-year-old mother was transferred to Brookdale specialist Dementia Unit after three months in hospital following a bad fall. I was extremely concerned how she would settle after always being looked after in her own home. From the outset, Brookdale welcomed her. Some weeks later, she celebrated her 100th birthday, and the carers helped so much in making her special day happy and memorable. Brookdale is a hugely warm-hearted and uplifting care home. I can't imagine the care being bettered. The sensitivity shown to my mum and also to me has been remarkable and so very welcome. Whenever I have any questions, they have also been fully listened to and answered with real understanding and exceptional emotional support. It has been difficult to leave my mum as I don't live nearby, but I know that she is wonderfully looked after and happy. This helps enormously. She enjoys her room, which is painted in warm colours and having a coffee and cake in the delightful cafe. I want to thank all the staff and carers, the cleaners, the ladies in the laundry - everyone who I regularly see when I visit or telephone. They are tremendous.
Recently caught up with a family member regarding my old neighbour who resides at the care home and he was telling me all about the fantastic work that goes on within the home. With help of my son over Facebook, we managed to see the residents of Brookdale went on a bus ride to Blackpool which under the current circumstances is a great team effort by all the staff there, making sure everything is accounted for but at the same time giving the residents a trip away and many memories made I am sure. I am still isolating a lot of the time but I am looking forward to coming to see my old friend soon.
I don’t always get to see my grandad especially with the lockdown period and living so far away so the Facebook page being updated daily really warms my heart to see him joining in with activities and socialising with other residents’
