View Full Details of Highfield Private Care HomeMum has been in Highfields Care Home many years and we have consistently had to be on the case of her basic care needs with the management. Care workers are constantly reminded to ensure simple routines and tasks relating to her care are done. They are also asked to let us know if she needs anything but never do. Whilst a key few are very good, many of them are are often indifferent, fail to introduce themselves or speak to mum when carrying out general care tasks and only do things when reminded to do so or asked to do If we were not constantly reminding or visiting often, I dread to think how mum would be as she cannot ask or do anything for herself. She is generally cared for, clean and medically monitored but many basic requirements specific to her are often forgotten on a daily basis and we frequently have to raise concerns with the management team.
Such wonderful, smiling and attentive staff. My mother is in good hands. The cleanliness at Highfield is very impressive as must be a challenge at times. The food is delicious and well varied too. There is always a pleasant atmosphere in communal area for the residents.
My mother moved to Highfields 2 May after a part replacement hip operation. The following day the home had a VE day celebration party an I was so surprised to see Mom joining in, sitting up smiling and waving a flag. It was so welcome after a distressing stay in hospital. My mom has been here nearly 4 weeks now. The level of care she is receiving is first class. Nothing is too much trouble and I feel well supported too. At all times, Mom is treated with dignity and respect.
Highfield Care home, has been home for my daughter since 27/04/2023. These two years past so quick it is a very friendly home, safe, clean, smells good. All the staff carers, nurses, admin, manager domestic, host are very nice, friendly and caring my daughter is very happy when any of the staff come to talk to her. They enjoy her smile, laughter and happiness when they talk to her. You feel it is like a home more than an institute, and in a lovely place.
My aunt has been at Highfields for almost three years. The manager and staff are amazing. I live outside the UK and visit a couple of times a year. But I phone in several times each week to catch up with my aunt. The staff are always friendly, helpful and let me know how my aunt is doing. There are numerous activities for residents. When I visit, the staff never mind what time of day I show up. They are welcoming. I'm always offered a cup of tea (which is appreciated). What is most important to me is 1) my aunt has settled into Highfield and is well looked after and 2) if there are any issues at all (for example she gets a cold) the staff inform me. The team at Highfield schedules time with residents' families, welcomes us to different events and we can even attend activities. Personally, I'm a fan of the yoga/movement classes! Everyone at Highfield is kind, caring and compassionate. I have peace of mind knowing my beloved auntie is well looked after.
My sister is a resident at Highfield. She has been there for a couple of years now. She is incredibly well looked after. Whenever I visit, I am always very impressed. I have great faith in all the staff I have met.
The home is friendly and welcoming. The staff are attentive to the residents needs and treat residents with care and respect. The home provides plenty of activities and entertainment. The environment is warm and welcoming and the staff always happy to help. The home provides a homely environment for residents.
My partner has been a resident of Highfield for almost 2 years. In this time he has built up a nice relationship with the majority of the staff here. They come across as friendly and approachable, and I feel as though I can approach any of them with any concerns if need be. In my mind, he is much happier in himself since coming here, he doesn't leave his room that often which is his decision, but he knows there is always somebody close by if needed. If we sit in reception area there is always a few people that stop for a while and chat, which is lovely. Also if you don't fancy what is on the menu they are more than happy to cook something else for you.
Just to say that the manager and all the staff at Highfield House Saffron Walden are absolutely amazing in every respect. They are so caring, kind, understanding and look after their resident's needs to a very high standard. Also they are very professional too. Well done Highfield.
My cousin is a resident of Highfield. I am no expert but the staff appear to be well trained and caring under firm but friendly management by the Manager and Deputy. Medical issues have been attended to promptly with a doctor in attendance when necessary. My cousin and I are satisfied and often impressed by the care and consideration he is given. In particular, the way in which residents and their families are encouraged to voice their opinions on how the home is run, the activities provided, the food served and anything else they want to say either by themselves or in regular meetings. The management reacts positively to these views and also ensures that any remedial action is well known.
Highfield looked after our dad brilliantly. The staff were so caring and went above and beyond in their care. They are very welcoming of visitors. We particularly appreciate the opportunities for residents to go out on visits, including the pub.
Dad spent the final two years of his life at Highfield Care Home, which was a surprise as he’d always said he never go and live in a care home. But he settled in well, and as it turned out, he actually loved finding a second family among the staff there, always ready to hear about the ups and downs of each other's lives and to crack a joke when times were tough. They are a great team, and the care Dad got was exceptional. Dad sadly passed away at the home, but he did so peacefully and in comfort. We can't thank the home enough for all they did for him. Including actually improving his quality of life by sorting out long-standing problems like leg ulcers and getting his cataract done, as much as being there for him as his health declined. The attentiveness and kindness he received were a revelation to us, just as much as it was to my dad.
My father was a resident for almost two years until his death in November 2022. He received a high standard of care whilst he was there. I felt extremely confident that my dad was being well cared for. There were a range of activities for the residents to enjoy and I know Dad enjoyed some of these, especially visits to pubs and restaurants which were things he loved to do when he lived at home. The staff were very caring, especially as his family could not visit very often as they all live a distance away. This went a long way to give me peace of mind.
The care at Highfield Private Care Home is really wonderful, my mum has been a resident for seven years. They always keep me up to date with everything about my mum. They know her so well and she feels like a part of family.
Highfield Private Care Home is situated in very pleasant surroundings in a quiet part of Saffron Walden. My sister has been in the home for almost three years. On entering the home you could think you were in a hotel. Everywhere is very clean and tidy. The staff are all very friendly, helpful and caring. My sister is kept clean and tidy at all times and always looks nice in her clothes. There are various activities taking place such as bands playing, yoga sessions and outings. A beauty therapist visits the home on a regular basis and is available to residents who wish to take advantage of her services. A chiropodist also visits the home on a regular basis. My sister particularly enjoys the meals; the menu is varied and residents are asked to make suggestions. There are excellent nurses onsite 24 hours each day. The manager and his office staff are available to offer help and support whenever needed. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff!
I can not praise the staff at Highfields highly enough. The care, attention and love they show my Father in Law is second to none. The home is run very efficiently by the manager, helped by staff in the office. The nursing staff are so caring and empathetic especially two staff members who are a major part of my Father in Laws team and look after him extremely well. The food is excellent, normally delivered by the smiling and warm staff member. Highfields has such a happy and warm feel about it, everyone is happy there. I must give a special mention to the maintenance guy, he works so hard and nothing is too much trouble for him. Overall Highfields is 5 star.
The quality of care and personal approach starts with the Manager and Deputy Manager. They are kind, caring and sensitive. They are easy to talk to, and always have their door open, making it easy for relatives to go in and chat. They set the tone for the care that is found throughout the home. The nurses and carers are usually the same from week to week, probably because they are full-time, means that Mum can build a relationship with them and we can do the same. Two staff members stand out as people that we have spoken to regularly. The lady who brings round meals and tea/coffee is also friendly.
My mother has now been a resident of Highfield Private Care Home for the past 8 years. In that time she has been well loved and looked after by all staff and management which has had a variety of changes over this period. As a family we are extremely pleased to find Highfield from half a dozen homes we viewed. If anyone is looking for a care home for their loved ones I can recommend that this one will not be beaten.
The care has been of a really high standard and it is a nice setting for her to be in. All the staff are very friendly, there is always lots of staff available. The rooms and facilities are of a high standard.
All the staff are friendly and helpful. They maintain the dignity of the residents and know the families well. They are courteous always. Some of the fabric of the care home needs updating and this is an ongoing programme. There is an ongoing issue with recruiting and securing an activities manager but this is currently being met by the care staff to some degree.
