View Full Details of Wombwell Hall Care HomeMy wife came into Wombwell Hall, Copperfields in May 2025. The care has been excellent from all care and support staff in particular care assistant as well as housekeeping. Food is very good, cooked to a great standard. Myself and all the family are thankful for making a difficult time more bearable.
My mum has been a resident of Wombwell Hall for over 2 years. It is one of the most difficult things we as a family have ever had to deal with, all made that little bit more bearable by the kindest and understanding of all the staff. Mum settled well into Wombwell ( not like the home she was in before here) so that already made us feel more comfortable with leaving her there. Over time we have got to know the staff well and mum is now part of the furniture. Wombwell have a way of understanding each and every resident's needs, which is due to the commitment of their long standing staff. All the staff are amazing and really do CARE about all the residents, nothing is too much trouble. This level of care cannot be provided by agency staff! I have no problem recommending this care home.
My Husband was a resident in Wombwell Care Home for two and a half months when sadly he recently passed away. The love and care he received from all the Staff at Copperfields was second to none. I will always be grateful for their expertise in looking after him. This was carried out with understanding and compassion. Thank you to all the Staff for making a heartbreaking time more bearable. I send my love to you all.
My father spent his last few months at Copperfield House and I couldn't be happier about the quality of care he received. The whole staff team were so attentive to his individual needs and managed his Alzheimer's behaviours in a calm and respectful manner, nothing fazed them! As he reached his end of life, the level of compassion shown to him when poorly was really moving for his family and the close bond he had with staff shone through. We were able to spend as much time with Dad at the end as we wished and treated with with such care and love, we appreciated this so much and this memory will stay with us. We would recommend Wombwell Hall for a loved one for its home from home feeling, caring staff and welcoming atmosphere too residents and visitors. Their new Neville's Garden is a beautiful place to spend time with a relative or a space for peaceful reflection. They get a 10/10 from me!
We appreciate the staff looking after our wife/mother, in her time at the home. Was looked after more and respected more at the home, then her time in the hospital. Thank you so much for all you done for us.
I recently spent a week at Wombwell - Pickwick House - for respite care. This is the 4th time I've had respite at Wombwell and I've been delighted with their service. The staff are kind, caring, engaging and attentive. They go to no end of trouble to meet my needs and support me accordingly. I'd particularly like to thank five members of staff.
My husband was admitted to Copperfield in February following his dementia worsening and his falls becoming a daily occurrence. He was looked after with much love and care by all the staff . Myself and members of the family visited everyday and we were made to feel welcome and encouraged to join in any activities. Unfortunately my husbands health deteriatedand he was bed bound for the last couple of weeks but he was still looked after with the same care and attention and made to feel comfortable . My sons and I were with him 24hrs over his last week and thank everyone for the attention and kindness given to us ,nothing was too much trouble not only did they look after my husband but they supported us too . Thank you so much to all the team you are angels
My husband spent the last two months of his life in the care of the staff of Wombwell Hall. During that time he was treated with respect and dignity, throughout the day members of staff would come into his room (never just passing by his open door) and chat with him about a variety of subjects. They made it their mission to learn about him and his life drawing on photographs and my experiences of our long life together. His personal care was exemplary. Unfortunately my husband was confined to his bed, but this did not mean he was excluded from all the activities - he was visited by professional pantomime actors and Skye the support dog and, at my request, the staff ensured that music was playing in his room all day. I was treated with kindness and respect; I felt listened to and supported in what was a very difficult time for me. I was encouraged to take part on activities including a hilarious pantomime, exercise sessions and an uplifting and inclusive Carol Service.
My Mother-in-law has been a resident for a couple of years it is well looked after by the kind and caring team here at Wombwell. 'Warm, clean, entertained and safe' would be my few-word summary. It's good to see the refurbishment going on too.
I want to share my full support for Wombwell Hall and its incredible team, led by a dedicated and compassionate manager. While working in this sector is never without challenges, the staff at Wombwell consistently go above and beyond to provide care that is both professional and heartfelt. It's clear that both the manager and her staff are deeply committed to the well-being of every resident. The recent CQC rating is disappointing and, in my view, doesn't reflect the hard work, dedication, and care I've witnessed at Wombwell Hall. I'm confident the next review will provide a fairer reflection of the exceptional efforts made by the entire team. Thank you to the manager and everyone at Wombwell Hall for your tireless dedication, you make a real difference every day!
My mother has been a resident for the past 6 months, and has settled in well. She can be very difficult and demanding person, but we have noticed a gradual change in her behaviour, with our visit last weekend seeing her extremely happy. She now communicates with other residents, and joins in some of the activities. The attention given by the staff to the residents is first class, they pick up and respond to all requirements no matter how small. This level of detail can only be observed when you spend time in the Care Home. The quality of food is extremely good, and the choice available is excellent. My mother commented recently that they provide ice cream whenever requested. The staff provide a variety of activities, supplemented by in-house services, such as a hairdresser. Residents are encouraged to leave their room and spend time in the general communal areas. Some areas are maybe looking a little tired, but this is being addressed by the new owners.
Since being lied to again I am not happy with my situation. Its okay if you have dementia or something else but just have no mobility, because my last hospital visit is beyond a joke. My social worker has not visited so I don't know what is happening. But I can't wait to get out of here even if I have to discharge myself. Food needs improvement. No telly in room. Staff few and far between. Please get me out of here as soon as possible.
My dad arrived at Pickwick House on the 22nd of June, in his words he was happier than he thought he would be. He loved being around the other residents and loved the staff. He had the best last 14 weeks with them, and myself, my sister and brother would like to thank you all for loving him and caring and making him as happy as he was, we appreciate you all, Dad's words God bless you all.
Following my father's stay with you for 5 months in the Micawber unit at the beginning of the year due to an injury and his not being able to be at home, we decided to place him for one week of respite care in August as my mother had to have an operation and he needed to be looked after. We cannot fault the care that the carers and the office team at Wombwell Hall at all, he was so well looked after and he felt completely safe and at ease with everyone he met. We all felt that they could not do enough for us and at every point that we needed help or advice you were there. You even took him for his important hospital appointments whilst he was on his 5-month stay. Thank you again and we wouldn't think twice about using you.
My mother was well looked after, although only in for a short time. She had a nice room with a patio sliding door and with a pleasant view. The building security was good as were the staff. We were able to take her for a walk around the pleasant grounds which she enjoyed. When she passed away the staff were very understanding and helpful.
The care my Nan received at Wombwell was above and beyond. I am so grateful to them, they built lovely, genuine relationships with my Nan as well as the whole family. When Nan passed every staff member was so kind and considerate, I cannot thank them enough. They really did make it feel like a home away from home.
Personal hygiene could be improved, as far as shaving goes. We had to speak to staff a few times to get a shave daily. Food and drink could be improved. Would like to talk to the chef personally, maybe weekly, to discuss needs to do with my uncle's carbohydrate levels. Carers are not medical and do not understand he is hurting in his Coccyx when in one position too long, so he does not complain. But he would like to be moved off Coccyx more often.
The whole team at Micawber House have made my uncle welcome. The majority of the carers are kind and considerate and take into account his needs and dignity. He enjoys the food. The room is kept clean, but is in need of an update, as is the bedding. Hopefully, as mentioned in one of the meetings with the home manager, the refurbishment of the rooms are underway and there will be more showering facilities in the new en-suite bedrooms.
My 98-year-old mother came into the home in mid-February this year. At first, she was reluctant to accept where she was and the help that was available. She is now happy and pain-free most of the time. She does complain but usually, the issue has already been dealt with. The staff, that we have met and seen, are all wonderful and do their very best to support Mum. Her room is dated and tired but clean and has a fantastic outlook. So very acceptable indeed. The food is good but Mother does grumble about this sometimes. That said she never asks for alternatives so that makes it harder to please her. Based on what I've seen, the food is very nice. She has lots of visitors who bring her in whatever she wants. For someone who has been fiercely independent all of her life, the environment is not what she ideally wants but deteriorating health has made this the only safe option.
We couldn't thank the staff at Pickwick enough, they helped my granny's last few months of her life the best, catered to her every need, Pickwick is very clean, always had fresh bedding, washed and bathed her, when she wanted food looked clean and nice. The staff didn't just look after the patients but the family too, when it was her last few days they did their all to make sure Granny and the family were as comfortable as we could be. When we would bring the children down they always make sure the children were good and had colouring. The staff always pull their own weight, no one though they was better than anyone else. Thank you again Pickwick, you restored my faith in care homes, love to you all!
