Positioned at Wombwell Gardens in the town of Northfleet Wombwell Hall is a 120-bed care home offering specialist residential nursing care and palliative care for those living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, confusion, and other similar conditions.

The purpose-built care home is in a quieter part of Northfleet’s urban community. Surrounded by green space and tree canopies, the home is set in a pleasant and peaceful position yet benefits from easy access to town-based amenities.

Having recently benefitted from a thoughtfully designed refurbishment, the communal areas such as the dining rooms, lounges, day rooms, conservatory, hair salon and treatment rooms have been designed to enhance the daily lives of everyone who calls Wombwell Hall their home.

Kindness is at the heart of everything the care team does at Wombwell Hall; person-centred care and wellbeing is top priority. Personalised care plans consider not only medical, personal, and dietary needs, but also the individual's likes and dislikes, religious preferences, and suggestions from family members.

As part of a person-centred care delivery plan, individuals are encouraged and supported to participate in their pastimes and hobbies or embark on learning something new in a fun and inclusive environment.

Wombwell Hall has many places in which to relax, dine, exercise, socialise and be creative. The landscaped garden and patio are the perfect spot to spend time with friends and family, or with one of the many neighbourhood groups or volunteers who visit.

I can't comment on food or drink as Jean is peg fed. Jean has been treated with good care whilst being here. She has no bed sores or redness as the carers & nurses turn her regularly. She has had no infections around her peg site or any blockages. Her care has been excellent.

My Mother in Law is cared for at Wombwell Hall. She was recently moved to the care home from another facility. Since the move she has settled amazingly well. Care staff are amazingly welcoming and are exceptional at what they do. We feel her care is well above the standard from the previous location.
My Mother in Law in included and regularly moved to the lounge area to spend time in the company of other residents. There is a really comprehensive programme of activities lead by Mollie and her team. These activities, not only focused to residents but to families and visitors too. The small touches like laying dining tables with flowers and glasses, easter eggs for residents, birthday celebrations and much more make all the difference to residents. Staff go above and beyond to make this a community rather than a facility. Highly recommended to anyone who has to make the difficult decision for a loved one to enter care.

My dear 92 year old Mum who has Alzhiemers and many other medical/care needs has been in Weller House since Sept 2025. She was put into care in Weller House after a fall & hospital stay of 8 weeks & shortly after loosing her husband of 67 years, who was her main Carer. So this move was most upsetting
and very confusing for her.
From the moment my Mum arrived at Weller House the Care, support and empathy that my Mum received was and always has been outstanding. This is not a plush Care Home but all rooms are clean & do not smell. My mums clothes are laundered. There is a hairdresser & chiropodist linked to Weller House, as well as a very fun, young and caring activities team, who are totally inclusive, whether the resident is in their room or in a communal area. Weller House staff are consistent, keep routines and are friendly but professional and totally approachable. They care about my mum and our family too. They are an exceptional group of staff and I cannot Thank them enough.....

My dad is in Pickwick House and has been poorly over the last week. The staff in Pickwick House have been absolutely wonder both to him and to me. The kindness and care is wonderful. They are always there with a smile and kind words. I am pleased to say dad is much better now I have no doubt this is
due to the care and respect that he has received. Thank you to all of the staff especially Amadeep who is the unit manager who goes out of her way to reassure you when you leave and always keeps you updated. All of the staff are absolutely wonderful thank you to you all you are all angles.

Sadly, my mother-in-law was only resident at Wombwell for three weeks, but during that time she received loving care. The staff were also very considerate to all our family as we were constantly there to be with her. Yes, at times there were communication hiccups, but that was more related to the transition
from hospital care to palliative care and not all the staff had been made aware. We were grateful for the loving care mum received during her last three weeks.

My partner was extremely well looked after during his stay at Wombwell Hall, from May 2023 until April 2025. They were very kind and patient and always had different things going on for all the residents. His cleanliness and appearance was taken care of on a daily basis, there were hairdressers and
a chiropodist, who came to the home on a regular basis. The menus were varied and with lots of nutritional value. Each room has their own TV and window, looking out onto the gardens on the estate, so the residents can see the local wildlife, foxes, squirrels and birds and the varied amount of different established trees and shrubs. Everything is regularly maintained and kept in good working order, in the home and outside in the grounds. The home is reached either by car or a regular bus which runs every half an hour and the bus stop is only two minutes walk away. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a care home to use this establishment, they won't be disappointed.

My mother in law has been at Wombwell Hall for 18 months mostly in Pickwick House and we are impressed with the kind and caring attitude of all the staff - not only to residents but to family members as well. They are happy and smiling even in difficult circumstances, welcoming - giving time to discuss
concerns and friendly. They are professional and their interpersonal skills are excellent. My mother in law is a long term resident so we have had a long experience of life at Wombwell!

Copperfield House is a superb, well-run, and organised house with lots of exciting, interesting activities for the residents.
They pride themselves on a very personal touch with their care, which has the residents happy and engaged.
The facilities are excellent, with recently redecorated and revamped
rooms that are homely yet functional for the residents.
The house manager, is brilliant, so friendly and helpful; you always feel as if your loved ones are the only reason they exist.
I would thoroughly recommend Wombwell Hall and Copperfield in particular for any loved ones who you have a requirement for.

I enjoyed my stay at Weller House and look back on it with pleasure. I had broken both my wrists and, unable to look after myself, I was referred for care. I have Parkinson's disease and also very bad osteoarthritis and therefore everything was difficult for me. I could not look after my own hygiene
and also found it very difficult to eat as I could not hold the cutlery and therefore needed a lot of help. The food was very good and plentiful. I had a very nice, comfortable room with an armchair and a TV. I could also use the lounge, where there were various activities during the week. There's no doubt that it's very difficult to have to surrender all aspects of your care over to others but I can only say that everybody was very helpful and I experienced nothing but kindness and concern for my welfare. The carers and staff alike were very responsive, cheerful and easy company. They have my admiration and grateful thanks.

My mum has been a resident of Wombwell Hall for over 2 years. It is one of the most difficult things we as a family have ever had to deal with, all made that little bit more bearable by the kindest and understanding of all the staff. Mum settled well into Wombwell ( not like the home she was in before
here) so that already made us feel more comfortable with leaving her there. Over time we have got to know the staff well and mum is now part of the furniture.
Wombwell have a way of understanding each and every resident's needs, which is due to the commitment of their long standing staff. All the staff are amazing and really do CARE about all the residents, nothing is too much trouble. This level of care cannot be provided by agency staff!
I have no problem recommending this care home.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.596)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.596) out of 10 for Wombwell Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 36 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.596 for Wombwell Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (298 Excellents x 5) + (67 Goods x 4) + (33 Satisfactorys x 3) + (8 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 408 Ratings = 4.596
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wombwell Hall Care Home is based on 34 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 120 registered maximum number of service users is 24, which has been reached with 34 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Richard Lawson

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2025

Richard has enjoyed a varied career. After beginning his post college working life in social care, he then focussed on working with teenagers and young people. This in turn led him, (by accident he will tell you) to take to the high seas, and spent a number of years on cruise ships around the globe. Upon returning to dry land, Richard worked in a number of related industries both in the UK and for a short period abroad - hospitality, entertainment and show management, including media and local radio - he even became an award winner whilst managing a seaside pier and theatre!

However, this led to Rich being headhunted back into health and social care management, which is where he has stayed for the past 15 years. He has worked as a Home Manager, General Manager, Operations Director, Regional Manager and Director - and now is delighted to join Belmont Healthcare as the General Manager at Wombwell Hall. A little care village with a big heart and ambitious plans for the future...

Richard's whole career has centred around the same basic core principles and values, from day one. A love, respect and duty of care for people, a passionate commitment to the most outstanding customer service which includes caring - really, really caring. And that is as true today as it ever was - and what you will find at Wombwell Hall.
