Since my friend moved to Wombwell Hall in March under the 'fast-track' he has thrived. He settled in well, with the staff being very welcoming and caring.

He gets on well with them and vice-versa. It's true to say he has exceeded expectations, in part down to him, but also the home.

My dad was transferred from hospital to Wombwell Hall for palliative care. The care was outstanding, as was the communication between me and the home, and my dad's wishes were all outstanding. They not only looked after my dad but made sure his family were ok. After dad passed away, the nursing staff gave us time with dad and were very sympathetic and understanding.

This is a good home - but self-funding at £6000 a month, I think is excessive.

Having now come to the end of my self-funding, I am now awaiting the assessment of my future.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Wombwell Hall Care Home

We are delighted that you feel the Home is good, we have spoken recently regarding your position here at Wombwell Hall which is a permanent one and I understand an assessment will be undertaken by social services in order to secure funding for you.

Shortages of staff causes problems on some occasions for less mobile residents, left without cups of tea from breakfast to 5pm.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Care Advisor at Wombwell Hall Care Home

Thank you for your comments, we have employed additional staff to support the Unit and will look into the refreshments that are offered to Residents throughout the day to ensure they are receiving regular drinks.

I feel Mum has improved greatly, especially with self-esteem. Regular contact with carers and activity ladies made her feel so welcome and the social aspect has improved her confidence greatly.
Carers always treat my mum with dignity and make relatives of residents feel welcome.

Thank you.

I feel fairly happy in my care home and also comfortable. The food leaves a lot to be desired. Some food does not look like in the pictures in the home booklet.

Richard Lawson
Richard Lawson Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2025

Richard has enjoyed a varied career. After beginning his post college working life in social care, he then focussed on working with teenagers and young people. This in turn led him, (by accident he will tell you) to take to the high seas, and spent a number of years on cruise ships around the globe. Upon returning to dry land, Richard worked in a number of related industries both in the UK and for a short period abroad - hospitality, entertainment and show management, including media and local radio - he even became an award winner whilst managing a seaside pier and theatre!

However, this led to Rich being headhunted back into health and social care management, which is where he has stayed for the past 15 years. He has worked as a Home Manager, General Manager, Operations Director, Regional Manager and Director - and now is delighted to join Belmont Healthcare as the General Manager at Wombwell Hall. A little care village with a big heart and ambitious plans for the future...

Richard's whole career has centred around the same basic core principles and values, from day one. A love, respect and duty of care for people, a passionate commitment to the most outstanding customer service which includes caring - really, really caring. And that is as true today as it ever was - and what you will find at Wombwell Hall.
