Edendale Care Home has been the right place for my 90 year old Mother-in-Law. Staff have always been seen to be caring and very friendly. It stands head and shoulders above the other care homes that we have seen and dismissed. We feel reassured that my wife's mother is being well looked after. Well
done to all the staff there.

When I visited my brother-in-law, I was surprised to note that there was a music Video on the TV with the volume at full blast, followed by a music concert. Myself and other visitor could not converse due to the noise. Surely this is not appropriate for these residents? I suggest music from 1940s,
1950, and 1960s, music that they can relate to! Also, there seemed to be many staff standing around the kitchen area and not interacting with the very bored residents.
Reply from Adam Hutchinson, MD at Madeira Lodge Care HomeMany thanks for your feedback, it is valued and taken on board. We will look into this and get in touch with those on site, and I will ask our regional director to reach out to you to discuss how we can improve on this for your future visits.

Sadly, my mother-in-law was only resident at Wombwell for three weeks, but during that time she received loving care. The staff were also very considerate to all our family as we were constantly there to be with her. Yes, at times there were communication hiccups, but that was more related to the transition
from hospital care to palliative care and not all the staff had been made aware. We were grateful for the loving care mum received during her last three weeks.

My Mother has been at Maderia Lodge since May 2025. I was away, my Sister lives a 3 hour drive away, Mum was taken into hospital, the team at Maderia, had great communication with us, keeping the family updated.
Mum was very upset and more confused than normal in hospital. On her return, to Maderia,
as she came through the doors, she said lm home....
Absolutely amazing team you go above and beyond Thank you,
Leonie (Daughter)

My beloved Uncle was placed at Copper Beach this summer. Overall my uncle is very content which is really important. I love the fact it's so inclusive regardless of mobility and how interactive staff are. I'm confident my uncle is safe and is being well looked after which is so important when trusting

My Mum's severe dementia means that her behaviour can be challenging to manage. During several recent visits I witnessed extreme kindness and excellent care from all staff, both towards my Mum and to me. As I live too far away to be able to visit as often as I would like knowing my Mum is being cared

I cannot speak highly enough of the care that my dad receives at Pickwick House. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and treat my dad with respect. The food is of a very high standard always fresh and hot. Pickwick House is always clean thanks to the domestic staff especially Claire who keeps
dads room spotless and always finds time to talk to dad about football. The nursing staff are so professional and welcoming and I know that my dad is being so well looked after. They always have to to speak to you and keep you up to date about medication etc. Thank you for making what was a very stressful emotional time so much better than we thought it would be.

We were at breaking point and when the fire brigade were called, we knew the time had come to put mum in a home. She was a bag of bones, barely existing. Fast forward 6 months, and with the right support and care, mum is a new person. I cannot thank you enough for making my last memories with mum, happy
ones. She is well fed, clean and looks engaged again. What makes the difference is the staff, the care and compassion shown is remarkable. The residents are treated with dignity and respect. To witness the staff treating the residents like they would a family member is touching. Every member of staff we have encountered cannot do enough to make the resident feel like they belong. Mum refuses to join in any activities but I can't fault the home for what they try to do. We've seen, singing, nail painting, bingo, baking to name a few. I would have no hesitation in recommending Maderia lodge as the perfect home from home, I've got part of the mum back I thought I'd lost. Thank you
Reply from Adam Hutchinson, MD at Madeira Lodge Care HomeThese are fantastic words about the support you have received, and we are thankful we have been able to support you and your family during this time

My partner was extremely well looked after during his stay at Wombwell Hall, from May 2023 until April 2025. They were very kind and patient and always had different things going on for all the residents. His cleanliness and appearance was taken care of on a daily basis, there were hairdressers and
a chiropodist, who came to the home on a regular basis. The menus were varied and with lots of nutritional value. Each room has their own TV and window, looking out onto the gardens on the estate, so the residents can see the local wildlife, foxes, squirrels and birds and the varied amount of different established trees and shrubs. Everything is regularly maintained and kept in good working order, in the home and outside in the grounds. The home is reached either by car or a regular bus which runs every half an hour and the bus stop is only two minutes walk away. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a care home to use this establishment, they won't be disappointed.

Overall I feel my mother is treated well and the staff are caring and kind.
However, I feel that asking me to bring in toiletries for my mother is ridiculous as she's paying in excess of £70.000 a year! In addition the toiletries are 'shared around'.
The new clothing I bring in for her mysteriously
disappears and she's always in someone else's attire! It's a lot of money and I expected better.
They have this 'resident of the month' tick box scheme and I've brought these issues to the attention of the staff numerous times but nothing ever changes.

My mother in law has been at Wombwell Hall for 18 months mostly in Pickwick House and we are impressed with the kind and caring attitude of all the staff - not only to residents but to family members as well. They are happy and smiling even in difficult circumstances, welcoming - giving time to discuss
concerns and friendly. They are professional and their interpersonal skills are excellent. My mother in law is a long term resident so we have had a long experience of life at Wombwell!

Copperfield House is a superb, well-run, and organised house with lots of exciting, interesting activities for the residents.
They pride themselves on a very personal touch with their care, which has the residents happy and engaged.
The facilities are excellent, with recently redecorated and revamped
rooms that are homely yet functional for the residents.
The house manager, is brilliant, so friendly and helpful; you always feel as if your loved ones are the only reason they exist.
I would thoroughly recommend Wombwell Hall and Copperfield in particular for any loved ones who you have a requirement for.

Woodbury House has cared for my husband for 14 months. As his dementia has worsened and his behaviour has become more challenging, they have continued to treat him with respect and to demonstrate evident care for him, despite the very obvious difficulties they have faced. Under the manager's leadership
the staff are positive and keen to help. They have proved very supportive not just to my husband but also to my son and to me, treating us with sensitivity when his behaviour has been at its worst. This Home is highly recommended.

I enjoyed my stay at Weller House and look back on it with pleasure. I had broken both my wrists and, unable to look after myself, I was referred for care. I have Parkinson's disease and also very bad osteoarthritis and therefore everything was difficult for me. I could not look after my own hygiene
and also found it very difficult to eat as I could not hold the cutlery and therefore needed a lot of help. The food was very good and plentiful. I had a very nice, comfortable room with an armchair and a TV. I could also use the lounge, where there were various activities during the week. There's no doubt that it's very difficult to have to surrender all aspects of your care over to others but I can only say that everybody was very helpful and I experienced nothing but kindness and concern for my welfare. The carers and staff alike were very responsive, cheerful and easy company. They have my admiration and grateful thanks.
