My wife came into Wombwell Hall, Copperfields in May 2025. The care has been excellent from all care and support staff in particular care assistant as well as housekeeping. Food is very good, cooked to a great standard. Myself and all the family are thankful for making a difficult time more bearable.

My Nan is currently living in Haslington lodge and I feel this home is full of amazing staff who really care about the residents. They show such patience, kindness and love to all the residents and the management are also amazing. Any concerns that I have regarding my Nan are always dealt with promptly
and I am also able to speak to a manager if required.


I love the fact that you can come and go as you please and are always greeted with a big smile from the staff and the residents. Thank you to all the staff at Haslington lodge, you work tirelessly hard to care for our family members.

My mum has been a resident of Wombwell Hall for over 2 years. It is one of the most difficult things we as a family have ever had to deal with, all made that little bit more bearable by the kindest and understanding of all the staff. Mum settled well into Wombwell ( not like the home she was in before
here) so that already made us feel more comfortable with leaving her there. Over time we have got to know the staff well and mum is now part of the furniture.
Wombwell have a way of understanding each and every resident's needs, which is due to the commitment of their long standing staff. All the staff are amazing and really do CARE about all the residents, nothing is too much trouble. This level of care cannot be provided by agency staff!
I have no problem recommending this care home.

My Husband was a resident in Wombwell Care Home for two and a half months when sadly he recently passed away. The love and care he received from all the Staff at Copperfields was second to none. I will always be grateful for their expertise in looking after him. This was carried out with understanding

All the carers, nurses and general staff are always friendly.
We talk to everyone and listen to how they have reacted and responded to our mum. We know she talks to them as the staff tell us information that is not generally known, memories from a long time ago. They have managed to get mum to join
in colouring activities, taken photographs of mum smiling while doing so, which we have shared with other relatives. This was particularly good for us as mum has rarely joined in with such activities.
We genuinely believe that the staff care about mum's welfare and happiness.
We are very happy that mum is being looked after at Copper Beeches, when we visit her, the interaction she has with the staff is very comforting to us.
The staff are her extended family, and to a point, ours too.

My father spent his last few months at Copperfield House and I couldn't be happier about the quality of care he received. The whole staff team were so attentive to his individual needs and managed his Alzheimer's behaviours in a calm and respectful manner, nothing fazed them! As he reached his end
of life,the level of compassion shown to him when poorly was really moving for his family and the close bond he had with staff shone through.We were able to spend as much time with Dad at the end as we wished and treated with with such care and love, we appreciated this so much and this memory will stay with us.
We would recommend Wombwell Hall for a loved one for its home from home feeling, caring staff and welcoming atmosphere too residents and visitors. Their new Neville's Garden is a beautiful place to spend time with a relative or a space for peaceful reflection. They get a 10/10 from me!

Mum was reluctant to go in a home. However her dementia meant she was no longer safe to be left at home. I wanted to let mum settle in before writing a review so I could give an honest opinion.
Here goes, I haven't seen mum look so lively and well in a long time. At home she was disengaged, staring
into space and not looking after herself. She is now extremely happy and it shows in her face every time we go. She looks 10 years younger.
Staff go above and beyond. They genuinely care about their clients. You can see it is more than just a job. The care and devotion is second to none. I've heard staff singing with them and encouraging activities. Mum hasn't stopped going on about the live singer with his guitar. She has gone from being a loner to really enjoying herself. She loves it there.
Mum is now eating properly, they know she picks fish every time but still give her a choice.
I would recommend this home every time just for the care of the staff alone. Thank you for what you do.

I recently spent a week at Wombwell - Pickwick House - for respite care. This is the 4th time I've had respite at Wombwell and I've been delighted with their service. My husband was admitted to Copperfield in February following his dementia worsening and his falls becoming a daily occurrence. He was looked after with much love and care by all the staff . Myself and members of the family visited everyday and we were made to feel welcome and encouraged to join in
any activities. Unfortunately my husbands health deteriatedand he was bed bound for the last couple of weeks but he was still looked after with the same care and attention and made to feel comfortable . My sons and I were with him 24hrs over his last week and thank everyone for the attention and kindness given to us ,nothing was too much trouble not only did they look after my husband but they supported us too . Thank you so much to all the team you are angels

My mum has been a resident for over a year and after visiting her yesterday it was easy to see the care and compassion is as always second to none. The staff are exceptional and treat her with such respect and dignity , the lunch looked very good and wholesome , as much as I didn't want her
to be in a care situation I chose what I consider to be the best . It looked very smart yesterday new floors new chairs , good to know the increase in fees is channelled back in for the good of residents. The only improvement I would like to see is not the tv constantly on with totally non appropriate programmes . Maybe a cd player with age appropriate music ? Most respond and enjoy background music specially dementia sufferers . Only my opinion of course . .A huge Thank you to all the wonderful caring staff , for always being there for my dear mum and the managers for always keeping me up to date with personal/medical details .Haslington deserves 5*

On arriving for the first time, I thought the home itself was very pleasant, nicely furnished, and had a very homely feel to it.
Although all the carers were very friendly, I observed how the carers interacted with the service users. Well, there was no interaction at all! They stood almost on guard,
chatting to each other, there was no trying to interact at all with residents. Only did a service user stand up, that they would approach to be told to sit down. No magazines, books + just sitting, staring into space or falling asleep through boredom.

Mum has been a resident for nearly 4 years now. The care / support she receives is brilliant, if she needs anything all she has to do is ask. Always treated with dignity and respect by ALL staff, they are one big happy family, nothing is too much trouble for mum or me as a visitor! All rooms are always
cleaned everyday to an excellent standard. Mum enjoys the food which they can choose from a menu, snacks/drinks are offered during every morning and afternoon if wanted. Carers will engage with activities if needed or required. Residents can watch TV in any of the 2 lounges. The home has regular singers in every month throughout the year. They hold summer events in the sunny garden/lounges for special days e.g. mothers day/fathers day/ easter etc on-site hairdresser available. Residents that are able to go on trips to the beach/ NR train etc. Mums feels happy/ safe/ settled at Madeira Lodge

My husband spent the last two months of his life in the care of the staff of Wombwell Hall. During that time he was treated with respect and dignity, throughout the day members of staff would come into his room (never just passing by his open door) and chat with him about a variety of subjects. They
made it their mission to learn about him and his life drawing on photographs and my experiences of our long life together. His personal care was exemplary. Unfortunately my husband was confined to his bed, but this did not mean he was excluded from all the activities - he was visited by professional pantomime actors and Skye the support dog and, at my request, the staff ensured that music was playing in his room all day. I was treated with kindness and respect; I felt listened to and supported in what was a very difficult time for me. I was encouraged to take part on activities including a hilarious pantomime, exercise sessions and an uplifting and inclusive Carol Service.

I want to share my full support for Wombwell Hall and its incredible team, led by a dedicated and compassionate manager. While working in this sector is never without challenges, the staff at Wombwell consistently go above and beyond to provide care that is both professional and heartfelt.
It's clear
that both the manager and her staff are deeply committed to the well-being of every resident.
The recent CQC rating is disappointing and, in my view, doesn't reflect the hard work, dedication, and care I've witnessed at Wombwell Hall. I'm confident the next review will provide a fairer reflection of the exceptional efforts made by the entire team.

My mother has been a resident for the past 6 months, and has settled in well. She can be very difficult and demanding person, but we have noticed a gradual change in her behaviour, with our visit last weekend seeing her extremely happy. She now communicates with other residents, and joins in some of
the activities. The attention given by the staff to the residents is first class, they pick up and respond to all requirements no matter how small. This level of detail can only be observed when you spend time in the Care Home. The quality of food is extremely good, and the choice available is excellent. My mother commented recently that they provide ice cream whenever requested. The staff provide a variety of activities, supplemented by in-house services, such as a hairdresser. Residents are encouraged to leave their room and spend time in the general communal areas. Some areas are maybe looking a little tired, but this is being addressed by the new owners.

My dad came into Haslington Lodge Care Home in July for end of life care. He was given approx 6 weeks due to his COPD deteriorating. We are now in January 2025 and my dad still here!
I put this solely down to the attention and care he receives from all the staff.
I don't worry about my dad living
there and I know when the time comes he will pass in comfort and love.
