I enjoyed my stay at Weller House and look back on it with pleasure. I had broken both my wrists and, unable to look after myself, I was referred for care. I have Parkinson's disease and also very bad osteoarthritis and therefore everything was difficult for me. I could not look after my own hygiene and also found it very difficult to eat as I could not hold the cutlery and therefore needed a lot of help. The food was very good and plentiful. I had a very nice, comfortable room with an armchair and a TV. I could also use the lounge, where there were various activities during the week. There's no doubt that it's very difficult to have to surrender all aspects of your care over to others but I can only say that everybody was very helpful and I experienced nothing but kindness and concern for my welfare. The carers and staff alike were very responsive, cheerful and easy company. They have my admiration and grateful thanks.

My husband was in Wombwell Hall from 9th July until 28th July. He was so looked after and all the staff looked after him, especially one member of staff in particular! They made his last days so comfortable, me and my son's couldn't have asked for a more comfortable end for him. I would like to send my love and best wishes to all the staff. You are wonderful.

My mother has been in the home for 20 months and we have found that her care is exemplary and cant find no fault at all. The care she is receiving during these difficult times, living with her dementia is excellent. The staff are very polite, caring for all her needs and keep us informed of any problems.

My mum has been a resident of Wombwell Hall for over 2 years. It is one of the most difficult things we as a family have ever had to deal with, all made that little bit more bearable by the kindest and understanding of all the staff. Mum settled well into Wombwell ( not like the home she was in before here) so that already made us feel more comfortable with leaving her there. Over time we have got to know the staff well and mum is now part of the furniture.
Wombwell have a way of understanding each and every resident's needs, which is due to the commitment of their long standing staff. All the staff are amazing and really do CARE about all the residents, nothing is too much trouble. This level of care cannot be provided by agency staff!

I have no problem recommending this care home.

My father spent his last few months at Copperfield House and I couldn't be happier about the quality of care he received. The whole staff team were so attentive to his individual needs and managed his Alzheimer's behaviours in a calm and respectful manner, nothing fazed them! As he reached his end of life, the level of compassion shown to him when poorly was really moving for his family and the close bond he had with staff shone through. We were able to spend as much time with Dad at the end as we wished and treated with with such care and love, we appreciated this so much and this memory will stay with us.

We would recommend Wombwell Hall for a loved one for its home from home feeling, caring staff and welcoming atmosphere too residents and visitors. Their new Neville's Garden is a beautiful place to spend time with a relative or a space for peaceful reflection. They get a 10/10 from me!

I recently spent a week at Wombwell - Pickwick House - for respite care. This is the 4th time I've had respite at Wombwell and I've been delighted with their service. The staff are kind, caring, engaging and attentive. They go to no end of trouble to meet my needs and support me accordingly. I'd particularly like to thank five members of staff.

My husband spent the last two months of his life in the care of the staff of Wombwell Hall. During that time he was treated with respect and dignity, throughout the day members of staff would come into his room (never just passing by his open door) and chat with him about a variety of subjects. They made it their mission to learn about him and his life drawing on photographs and my experiences of our long life together. His personal care was exemplary. Unfortunately my husband was confined to his bed, but this did not mean he was excluded from all the activities - he was visited by professional pantomime actors and Skye the support dog and, at my request, the staff ensured that music was playing in his room all day. I was treated with kindness and respect; I felt listened to and supported in what was a very difficult time for me. I was encouraged to take part on activities including a hilarious pantomime, exercise sessions and an uplifting and inclusive Carol Service.

I want to share my full support for Wombwell Hall and its incredible team, led by a dedicated and compassionate manager. While working in this sector is never without challenges, the staff at Wombwell consistently go above and beyond to provide care that is both professional and heartfelt.
It's clear that both the manager and her staff are deeply committed to the well-being of every resident.
The recent CQC rating is disappointing and, in my view, doesn't reflect the hard work, dedication, and care I've witnessed at Wombwell Hall. I'm confident the next review will provide a fairer reflection of the exceptional efforts made by the entire team.

Thank you to the manager and everyone at Wombwell Hall for your tireless dedication, you make a real difference every day!

My mother has been a resident for the past 6 months, and has settled in well. She can be very difficult and demanding person, but we have noticed a gradual change in her behaviour, with our visit last weekend seeing her extremely happy. She now communicates with other residents, and joins in some of the activities. The attention given by the staff to the residents is first class, they pick up and respond to all requirements no matter how small. This level of detail can only be observed when you spend time in the Care Home. The quality of food is extremely good, and the choice available is excellent. My mother commented recently that they provide ice cream whenever requested. The staff provide a variety of activities, supplemented by in-house services, such as a hairdresser. Residents are encouraged to leave their room and spend time in the general communal areas. Some areas are maybe looking a little tired, but this is being addressed by the new owners.

Since being lied to again I am not happy with my situation. Its okay if you have dementia or something else but just have no mobility, because my last hospital visit is beyond a joke. My social worker has not visited so I don't know what is happening. But I can't wait to get out of here even if I have to discharge myself.

Following my father's stay with you for 5 months in the Micawber unit at the beginning of the year due to an injury and his not being able to be at home, we decided to place him for one week of respite care in August as my mother had to have an operation and he needed to be looked after.
We cannot fault the care that the carers and the office team at Wombwell Hall at all, he was so well looked after and he felt completely safe and at ease with everyone he met.
We all felt that they could not do enough for us and at every point that we needed help or advice you were there. You even took him for his important hospital appointments whilst he was on his 5-month stay.

Thank you again and we wouldn't think twice about using you.

My mother was well looked after, although only in for a short time. She had a nice room with a patio sliding door and with a pleasant view. The building security was good as were the staff. Personal hygiene could be improved, as far as shaving goes. We had to speak to staff a few times to get a shave daily.
Food and drink could be improved. Would like to talk to the chef personally, maybe weekly, to discuss needs to do with my uncle's carbohydrate levels.

Carers are not medical and do not understand he is hurting in his Coccyx when in one position too long, so he does not complain. But he would like to be moved off Coccyx more often.

Richard Lawson Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2025

Richard has enjoyed a varied career. After beginning his post college working life in social care, he then focussed on working with teenagers and young people. This in turn led him, (by accident he will tell you) to take to the high seas, and spent a number of years on cruise ships around the globe. Upon returning to dry land, Richard worked in a number of related industries both in the UK and for a short period abroad - hospitality, entertainment and show management, including media and local radio - he even became an award winner whilst managing a seaside pier and theatre!

However, this led to Rich being headhunted back into health and social care management, which is where he has stayed for the past 15 years. He has worked as a Home Manager, General Manager, Operations Director, Regional Manager and Director - and now is delighted to join Belmont Healthcare as the General Manager at Wombwell Hall. A little care village with a big heart and ambitious plans for the future...

Richard's whole career has centred around the same basic core principles and values, from day one. A love, respect and duty of care for people, a passionate commitment to the most outstanding customer service which includes caring - really, really caring.
