In my 3 1/2 years that I have stayed here in Copperfield I have enjoyed myself with the friends I have made here and I hope it will continue for me.

I always found this care home extremely helpful, the staff always smiling in difficult situations, they always seem to know what to say and how to handle the residents. It's a hard job and very much undervalued.

My friend is in a lovely clean room with lovely staff and care. The food is lovely. She is kept lovely and clean with change of nightdresses done regularly.

My wife has Parkinsons and dementia and is 89 years of age. Since my wife was admitted in June this year, I have visited her every day. From day 1 I have been treated with kindness and friendliness, I feed my wife her dinner always, and the food is excellent and nourishing. There is always a choice
of the two to choose from. The staff, from the matron down to the cleaning, are very good and helpful when I am present, to the residents and visitor. The activities staff are enthusiastic, inventive and have varied programmes.

Since the arrival of the manager in Pickwick House at Wombwell Hall, I have noticed a big difference in very little time.
The team appear to be less rushed and there seems to be more of them on duty at any one time.
It is lovely to see more residents in the day room and there is a lot more interaction
with the team.
A trip out to the café this afternoon - how wonderful.
Well done team Pickwick.

I have been very impressed with the care and attention which the staff have given to my husband.
He has been treated with dignity and encouraged to get moving after as spell of six weeks in bed at hospital.
After two weeks he is able to stand out of the chair and beginning to walk again.

The nursing staff are very helpful and accommodating. On my pre-visit was shown all over the residence and I was very impressed. Nothing is too much trouble. Since my mother was admitted it has taken a lot of worry and pressure away from me and I now can relax and concentrate on other matters knowing
she is in good hands. The carers are very supportive and very kind, listening to my concerns and putting my mind at rest. I can and will thoroughly recommend Wombwell Hall if asked.

Staff are so helpful and supportive, and go out of their way to assist my mother and keep us informed as to her wellbeing.
She finds it difficult to eat - but has been assisted to find things that suit her.

Although I think the staff are dedicated to their jobs, I feel sometimes there seems to be a lack of organisation and urgency to deal with issues.
I appreciate that the staff are under a lot of pressure due to shortage of staff and funding.

My mum was a resdient for over 4 years and in all that time, all the staff have looked after her with dignity and respect. They cared for her as though she was family. We will always be grateful for all their care and help in making mum's last few years as happy as it could be.

The staff are always welcoming when I visit my husband. They tell me what has been happening with him. They are a lovely bunch and seem more like family than staff.

My mother has been at Wombwell Hall (Pickwick House) for nearly 3 years. We spent a lot of time investigating all the care homes in the area and found that Wombwell Hall was the best in every respect. The staff are clearly dedicated and caring for all of the residents. It requires a special kind of
dedication to care for the elderly and they have it. I would have no hesitation in recommending Wombwell Hall.

This care home is excellent. They are making my mother very comfortable and all the staff are very kind and caring, especially the lady in charge. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone. My Mum is well fed, looked after with the utmost kindness and happy.

Richard Lawson

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2025

Richard has enjoyed a varied career. After beginning his post college working life in social care, he then focussed on working with teenagers and young people. This in turn led him, (by accident he will tell you) to take to the high seas, and spent a number of years on cruise ships around the globe. Upon returning to dry land, Richard worked in a number of related industries both in the UK and for a short period abroad - hospitality, entertainment and show management, including media and local radio - he even became an award winner whilst managing a seaside pier and theatre!


However, this led to Rich being headhunted back into health and social care management, which is where he has stayed for the past 15 years. He has worked as a Home Manager, General Manager, Operations Director, Regional Manager and Director - and now is delighted to join Belmont Healthcare as the General Manager at Wombwell Hall. A little care village with a big heart and ambitious plans for the future...


Richard's whole career has centred around the same basic core principles and values, from day one.
