Staples keep running out (tea bags, sugar and sweeteners). When asking for anything the answer is mostly 'not at this minute' or 'you will have to wait'. Staff do not come into the room so that my wife can see them or hear them a lot of the time.

My aunty came in for a short stay from the hospital, and the difference the staff have made to her is fantastic. My aunty had poor mobility and had lost a lot of weight, and now after two months, she has put on weight and is able to walk a little, and this is all down to the wonderful staff.

My aunty came in for a short stay from the hospital, and the difference the staff have made to her is fantastic. My aunty had poor mobility and had lost a lot of weight, and now after two months, she has put on weight and is able to walk a little, and this is all down to the wonderful staff.
She now gets her hair done once a week, and is joining in activities and is "living" again, and I could not ask for more.

Unfortunately, my mother was admitted to Wombwell Hall Care Home in January 2020 and the home has, of course, been in almost permanent lockdown since then. Notwithstanding she is 93 this year, contracted covid and is still with us which can only be due to the care and diligence of the excellent staff. Due to the minimum amount of inside visits that I have been able to make over the past 15 months, I feel unable to comment on some areas.

It has taken me a little bit of time to write this after losing our dear Mum-in-law to Covid. Although this was the most terrible time for us, the staff in the home showed such care and compassion, allowing us to visit to say our goodbyes.

It has taken me a little bit of time to write this after losing our dear Mum-in-law to Covid. Although this was the most terrible time for us, the staff in the home showed such care and compassion, allowing us to visit to say our goodbyes. The poor staff have suffered from a terrible time in the last few weeks, as covid took hold, and they have been nothing short of remarkable, always continuing to try and smile despite the pressures they have faced. I could not have wished for a better group of people to care for her and also for us. They even dressed up on Christmas Eve and went around the outside of the home to try to cheer everyone up, from the maintenance man, activities, housekeeping and managers - all of them made such an effort to try to make the best of a bad situation.
Thank you will never be enough.

Richard has enjoyed a varied career. After beginning his post college working life in social care, he then focussed on working with teenagers and young people. This in turn led him, (by accident he will tell you) to take to the high seas, and spent a number of years on cruise ships around the globe. Upon returning to dry land, Richard worked in a number of related industries both in the UK and for a short period abroad - hospitality, entertainment and show management, including media and local radio - he even became an award winner whilst managing a seaside pier and theatre!
However, this led to Rich being headhunted back into health and social care management, which is where he has stayed for the past 15 years. He has worked as a Home Manager, General Manager, Operations Director, Regional Manager and Director - and now is delighted to join Belmont Healthcare as the General Manager at Wombwell Hall. A little care village with a big heart and ambitious plans for the future...
