On our visit to see my mum we have found the staff very caring and helpful. With any queries that we might have they are happy to help if they don't know they will find out for us.since my mum has been here she seems very calm and happy and settled, even happy to be here
We have nothing but good things to say about Winchester House. The staff are amazing, from the Receptionist to the Nurses everyone has taken excellent care of our mother. The food and activities are varied and the house is set in a quiet tranquil location. I would highly recommend this lovely care home.
I was only at Winchester House for 2 weeks respite and, on the whole, my stay was uneventful. My main complaint was the food provided and the serving thereof. For the amount I was paying, apart from breakfast, the portions were inadequate and did not always meet what was mentioned on the menu. For instance the menu stated "soup, served with roll or homemade bread." On enquiring, I was told this was never served. Sometimes salad was supposed to accompany a lunch or supper item and this would be served with chips instead. Hardly nutritious.
The property is very nice and well maintained, the staff very caring and helpful, meaning mum was well looked after. The main downsides are (1) location - difficult to get to & no public transport and (2) policy of not allowing residency unless evidence of two years funding which meant mum could not stay there.
Amazing place.! Dad moved here permanently after reluctantly realising he could no longer live independently. All of the staff were so welcoming and supportive and he quickly felt completely at home. As well as supporting Dad, the staff were very supportive of us as a family - nothing was too much trouble. Dad's room was lovely and nicely decorated - the whole home is maintained to a high standard and set in beautiful grounds. Dad was definitely well fed and this made a huge difference to his fitness (he put on half a stone over a four week period). Our only regret is that we could not persuade Dad to move here earlier! In the end he only had four months at Winchester House but in that short time we could see it made a huge difference to him both physically and mentally. As well as making a huge difference to the quality of his life it also meant that, as a family, we no longer needed to worry about him in the same way, as he was being looked after and enjoying life.
Our Father was in care at Winchester House for 15 months and the genuine care he received was outstanding. As soon as you walk through the main door you can feel the caring environment and the Reception staff, especially one, were so welcoming and supportive. The Care Staff were very friendly, thoughtful and always respectful of our father and treated him with dignity. It was such a comfort that our father was so well looked after and safe and it gave our Mum great peace of mind each time she left him. The level of care and kindness was excellent and this was emphasised when Dad passed away - the staff on duty, especially two staff members, made the day as comfortable and easy as it could be for us and we thank you again.
Everything is done efficiently and a smile on everyones face. There is a lovely waiting area for when the patients are being cared for. The front of desk (Reception) are so helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
My mother spent just over 3 years at Winchester House. All the staff helped her feel safe and secure, which was always very important to her. There were plenty of activities arranged, which my mother always enjoyed. I would happily recommend Winchester House.
Thank you all for looking after me. You are kind and cheerful also very happy people excellent care!
Happy with mum's care. Mum is happy and settled here.
Our experience since October last year of our mum's care has been very good, the staff have been very attentive and the food is of a high standard. We are pleased she is being well cared for, and have peace of mind when we go home.
My mum spent two weeks at Winchester House for respite care following a 19-night stay in Medway Hospital. She enjoyed her time there, and all the staff were very kind and compassionate to her. She was able to get the rest and care she needed to enable her to gain her strength, and mobility and be well enough to go back to her own home. I wouldn't hesitate to place her there again should the circumstances arise.
Staff were quick to learn names. I was positively encouraged to use the call button at night to get drinking water. The television really needed a manual, but everything else was intuitive. Staff put themselves out to accommodate late returns from hospital, much appreciated. Overall: Excellent.
Amazing team at Winchester House Care Centre. My mother was well cared for in her last few weeks of life. Everyone who visited Mum had good words regarding the home and staff who made sure we were all looked after too and we can not thank them enough.
My father entered respite care after years of trying to avoid care homes and was quite worried about how he may be looked after. These worries quickly disappeared due to the lovely and caring environment at Barchester Winchester House Care Centre. His initial assessment was detailed and was aimed at giving him the best care possible, this included finding out what he likes to eat and what he liked to be called. My father has always been extremely happy staying at the home, on every occasion and has only expressed how well he is looked after. The carers feel like family to him and the other residents like friends. I couldn't recommend Winchester House enough.
To keep it brief - excellent facilities and staff. From the moment you walk in, everyone is so kind and friendly. Mum is cared for extremely well by all the staff. I have been coming here on and off for ten years and it just seems to get better year on year. Thank you to all the staff, you know who you are!
My dad was placed here last November after frequent falls and unable to stay at home anymore. The home is always clean and the decor is very tasteful. There is a menu available each day with fantastic choices to choose from with an option to choose something off the menu. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and support that has been given to my dad, all the staff are so friendly and happy! A must in my opinion. My dad is really happy and he has a good structured day with routine, there is also a timetable of events throughout the week that range from boat trips, crafts, games, singing and entertainment. There is always something to do. Staff are always available to answer any questions and are very knowledgeable in their roles. I was quite worried when Dad first went into residential care but I can honestly say I never worry and feel 100% confident about his welfare, safety and that his day-to-day needs are met.
I could not have wished for better care for my lovely mother. All the staff were just amazing and so caring not just to my mother, but to all the family and friends that visited her. I have many happy memories with mum during this very sad and difficult time thanks to the level of caring, support and genuine care, they really did care. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and compassion.
My brother and I arranged respite care for my dad as we were all going abroad for my daughter's wedding. Prior to his admission, my brother and I visited the home to look around. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. Dad also went there for lunch to meet the staff and residents before his stay. On the day of his admission, everyone welcomed Dad and us. The staff could not have been more helpful, making Dad feel safe and comfortable. We were in regular contact with the staff while we were away. Dad was so well cared for and staff kept us fully informed on how he was. I cannot thank every staff member enough for the support they have given us, as a family, and how they looked after Dad. It gave us peace of mind while we were away. We would recommend Barchester Winchester House Care Centre to anyone looking for a home which will care for their loved ones.
