View Full Details of Abbey House Residential Care HomeMy father, who was previously independent, had a fall and is now unable to walk. So, with a heavy heart, it was agreed between us that he needed residential care. Abbey House has made the transition easy and have treated him with kindness and respect. Every time I raise a health concern, the management have already actioned a solution which is a huge relief! Location great as Dad can't be wheeled far and everything is on their doorstep for when we take him out. We can phone and visit any time. All staff are friendly and accommodating.
My mum has been at Abby House for over 6 months now and I couldn't be happier with the care provided. The staff, especially the manager and deputy manager, go above and beyond. The communication is excellent and I never worry about my mum's care as I know she is in safe hands. Mum's settled in very well, takes part in all the activities and really loves it there.
Whenever I vist mother always seems happy anff well cared for. The staff are all cheerful andhelpful. As she has settled in she is joining in with the activities which are run by a very nice lady. The food always looks excellent. We are kept up to date with regular pictures on the messaging group.
Greeted with lovely welcome to the home, Mum was shown around with us. Also given telephone number if we need to check or ask anything. Messaging group to see photos of activities doing. One of the staff has been fantastic in helping me with anxiety, with a personal touch and contact. All staff have been supportive to mum and care with being away from her home, also, son who was very ill.
My mum stayed here for two weeks respite. The only reason I rated Satisfactory for cleanliness is because some parts of home the paint work could do with a lick of paint & freshening up. The staff were all lovely & Deputy most helpful. Received photos of mum partaking in activities and she looked happy & relaxed. Food looked & smelt good. Would happily send mum here again.
The staff here are amazing, really kind and helpful. They have made my parents feel very welcome and will do anything they can to help. They are very thorough and organised taking a lot of worry away from me. Communication is excellent. They are always polite and happy to help.
My mother-in-law has been in Abbey House for nearly 2 years now. She went in during Covid, as she had had a fall and broke her hip and arm and was then unable to return to her previous care home as she was no longer mobile. She is bedbound and has dementia, but is extremely happy at Abbey House, she enjoys the food and loves the staff who all care for her so well and truly meet all her needs. They are amazing and always include her in lots of activities that are run in the home. They come up with so many things to make her time enjoyable. They have had coloured moving lights in her room for her to watch. She even had a pony visit her in her room at Christmas! And she loves the house cat that can often be found fast asleep on her windowsill! Abbey House is a small care home, the staff have all been there for a long time. It has a special feeling of being a big family and we are truly lucky to have found the best care home with so much love for the residents.
We contacted Abbey House as my mum needed to go into repsite for a couple of weeks. Two of the staff came out quickly to assess my mum and then she went in for repsite within a few days. On arriving the staff were so friendly and welcoming, we had a tour of the home and Mum was shown to her room. Most days there were some activities, sadly Mum did not feel well enough to join in but she did join in for Bingo! It is a small care home with a family feel and lovely staff.
I have been treated alright here. The staff are always helpful if I need anything. I like the food here. I am happy here, it is very friendly and welcoming.
Satisfactory.
Made very welcome. Staff are helpful and friendly. Had a problem with cold room though small plus no carpet. Food was very good but was cold most of the time.
My father-in-law was taken into hospital from Abbey House earlier in December. The care given by staff whilst he was ill and waiting for the ambulance was exceptional. They showed care and concern, keeping in touch with me and talking to Dad whilst in hospital. He is still weak but due to the wonderful caring staff at Abbey House, is able to go back home, rather than spending more time in hospital to recover and gain his strength back. They have installed a hospital-type bed and agreed to help mobilise him and make all the necessary referrals. The staff at the hospital have sung their praises too as often homes refuse to take residents back, so thank you Abbey House, for your care and support for Dad.
I have been let down in other establishments so often, soul destroying. Finally, I am settled, happy.
I came to Abbey House as my memory got extremely poor. I have been here for 15 months now. I feel safe and I don't get scared when I get muddled and forget things as the staff are always there to help. I love my room; it is upstairs which is good for me as I am quite fit for 89 and enjoy walking about. The house is run like a big family which I feel very part of. I enjoy the company of all the other residents and we do get on and help each other where we can as we all have our different 'drop offs!' that come with old age. We join in the activities and we have a lovely, sheltered garden to sit and walk in. When we can go out we go to the seafront for coffee or ice cream. The thing that you never know until you get old is 'how scary life can become but by being in Abbey House I'm not scared anymore and I have been able to enjoy life again. Thank you to our manager and all her staff.
I know this is early to write a review, but I felt I needed to put in writing how thankful I am to the management at Abbey House. Over the last few weeks, they have worked tirelessly to sort out accommodating my Mum who is ninety and has complex needs. Mum had been in hospital for a month after having a fall in her previous care home where she lived for over 5 years and was quite mobile. Sadly, as she broke her right hip and right arm in two places, they said they couldn’t have her back as she was no longer mobile! I didn’t know where to turn and then a friend suggested Abbey House. I spoke to them and they said they were happy to speak with the hospital to see what was needed to take her. After working hard with community services, Mum is now at Abbey House and seems totally content, I have managed to see her, and she said the carers are very kind and give you chocolate biscuits! Thank you so much Abbey House, you are much appreciated.
It's been a very content experience.
My mother was a resident here for several years until her death in May 2019. The care she received here was second to none and the staff always went the extra mile to make her life as happy as possible. The home managers always kept me fully informed of Mums day to day health and well being.
My father was resident in this home for nearly a year and was very happy. It is just like a family home with excellent manager and carers. He died on 20th November 2015 and in his last week he was very poorly and needed a lot of looking after. The manager and her staff looked after him splendidly and respected his dignity at all times so he was able to pass away with all possible comfort. They also treated us, his family, with respect, care and kindness. We could not have wished for a better place for my father to spend his last year in.
