View Full Details of St Mary's Care HomeMy 96 year old mom needs 24/7 residential care for both her dementia and daily care needs. Having spent some respite care in some, we feel we are very very fortunate to have managed to secure a spot for her on a long term basis at St Mary's. The placement officer was our first point of contact. Super helpful, caring and knowledgeable about the needs of individuals who are senior and suffer with dementia. She took time to try and match mom with the most suitable room in the home. Mom is very happily settled after a few weeks. The team at St Mary's are quite incredible. Kind, always cheerful and pro-active. From admin, to clinical and maintenance staff members. Absolutely everyone made us feel so welcome. Including Bunty, a gorgeous Staffy that visits on occasion. Mom loves the gardens which are in full bloom at the moment, and enjoys the live singing sessions and vintage movie screenings. Mass twice a week in the on site chapel is what she cherishes the most though. Thank you St Mary's!
My relative moved into St Mary's just before Christmas 2024. On her very first visit she metaphorically 'put her slippers on' at Adam's afternoon music session. She walked straight in, started singing and dancing and immediately introduced herself to the other residents. St Mary's is a perfect fir for her. Since then she has settled nicely and become much healthier with all her needs looked after. The whole team are fabulous, keeping me informed and included in all the key decisions knowing that I live some distance from the care home, making visiting much trickier. When I need to phone for any reason, I am always greeted with a cheery and responsive outcome. Nothing is too much trouble. It is very reassuring to know that she is settled and well looked after. I/We couldn't ask for more.
My close friend has settled well at St Mary's and is enjoying her stay. She finds the food excellent and enjoys a glass of wine. What has impressed me is that the staff are respectful and include her in activities such as putting up decorations. When I visited we sat in the lovely orangery, with lemons an oranges hanging off the branches. It has views of the garden and yet is sunny and warm. We both enjoyed sitting there. There is a cinema which she had visited and I am always made to feel welcome. There always seems to be something going on, in particular dancing twice a week!
The minute you step through the beautiful reception area it feels like you're in a first class hotel (but with better security). Next thing you notice is warmth and positive energy and that comes from the staff. Every staff member we encounter is smiling and not just for me. The staff actually enjoy their job and being with the residents who are relaxed and happy. So many homes I've visited look like glorified hospital wings but St Mary's clearly thought about the layout of the place and the importance of social space. It even smells positive which reflects the good cleanliness and mindfulness there.
Astonishing standards from all staff; cheerful, knowledgeable, caring and very organised.
The care staff provide also extends to the resident's visitors. The residents are treated with respect and are encouraged to take part in activities. It is very uplifting to see the joy residents experience during the music sessions in particular. Staff carry out their duties in a very agreeable manner. No effort is spared for special occasions such as milestone birthday.
My dad has been living here about 2 years and he has always been happy and cared for when I visit.
I was transferred directly to St Mary's from hospital. The excellent and highly motivated personal care provided by the staff was very impressive and played a major role in my rehab. The comfort and facilities in my room and elsewhere in the care home are first class.
My friend was transferred to this care home from hospital after suffering a severe stroke. His mobility is compromised. He has received professional and compassionate care on an ongoing basis.
My wife has been a resident since February 2024 at St Marys. The staff including carers, nurses and management are all very friendly and very professional, it's a very relaxed atmosphere and all the staff are approachable if you have any questions. The decor and rooms are adequate with light colours giving a calming feeling. The home has an excellent restaurant and bar and also entertainment twice a week, on the whole, I would say St Marys is very good.
In the 18 months since my sister has been here. The improvement has been immense. She is cared for very well and all the staff on the first floor are very kind and friendly. She has been receiving physio and has improved physically. Long may it continue. The staff deserve all the praise they can get.
My mum came to St Mary's Care Home in March 2023 after various previous homes. The level of care, help and therefore improvement in my mum has been nothing short of unbelievable! I cannot thank the staff enough for their commitment and hard work, every single one of them has been amazing. There is not a place in the world I would rather my mum to be.
Since coming to St Mary's the improvement in my sister's health both physically and mentally, has been nothing but extraordinary. She has had a complete transformation in her behaviour and this I directly attribute to her placement in a home where the care has been second to none. My sister has some very challenging issues which needed to be addressed and I am so pleased the staff persisted and brought her to a point where she continues to improve.
I have found this home to be exceptional. It has exceeded my expectations. The staff displays care and affection for all the residents. The medical team has been on top of my Godmother's medical needs. It is clean and safe and the meals are good. There are various activities for the residents where the staff are hands-on with motivating residents and I have always felt welcome. There is continuity of staff which is great. All very good at St Mary's.
We are so delighted with the care that our friend is receiving, it is so different to where she was before. The carers are always lovely, smiley and friendly. The management and administrative team are also very friendly and kind and always remember you. Our resident has been very happy even when she finds somethings too much after her previous experience and the staff are patient and kind when she therefore doesn't always want to engage with activities etc.
Well-maintained home in a nice location. Nice atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff.
My brother was transferred from the hospital to spend his last days in the warmth of St Mary's Care Home. Whilst my brother only had days to live and was seriously ill, he received a level of care I could have not anticipated from everyone at St Mary's. This put my mind at rest helping me to handle the eventuality. A wonderful care home.
St Mary's Care Home has a very warm and friendly atmosphere. All the staff are very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. There are plenty of activities for residents and a lovely chapel and clergyman. It is very comfortable there and plenty of lovely food.
I cannot recommend St Mary's highly enough. Since my friend arrived here I have seen a huge improvement in her well-being. The staff couldn't be more caring and attentive and with regards to my friend, I now have peace of mind that all her needs are taken care of and that she now has the loveliest environment to live in. So grateful to everyone at St Mary's.
A lovely calm environment, where a relaxed ambience greets you when you visit. Residents are treated with the utmost respect and dignity and the care given to my husband from the kind, compassionate and happy staff, goes above and beyond my expectations. A very well-kept, spotless, tidy place with a homely feel. The staff are approachable and problems are dealt with immediately and effectively, nothing is too much trouble. Activities focus on enjoyment and the interaction between staff and residents is very heartwarming. I can speak confidently that this is the right place for my husband and I would like to convey my huge thanks to all the staff who have made my life easier and given me peace of mind.
