View Full Details of Arbrook House Care HomeOur mother was admitted to Arbrook house, in the later stages of her life. We (myself, my sister and brother), were very grateful to admit our mum into somewhere so pleasant. The home is lovely, as are the grounds, and all the staff creating a pleasant and caring environment. Our mother's needs changed over time, and the nurses and wider team knew exactly how to adapt the care she needed, giving her a dignified stay in challenging circumstances. The staff's support also extended to ourselves, ensuring we had everything we needed, including meals and allowing us to stay with our mum as she approached the end of her time. The holistic support was a great comfort and relief to us. Furthermore, the management team were always seeking and responsive to feedback. We would recommend this hope highly and are very grateful to everyone associated with the home and wider firm.
Respite care was a pleasant experience, and I tried to make the most of what was available. Care was kind and caring, but care givers were often under pressure because of staff shortages, resulting in them feeling overworked, and residents let down having to wait for most basic of personal needs to be addressed. I enjoyed interacting with the staff, particularly the younger ones from foreign countries. I was very touched on receiving a card and flowers for my birthday just after arrival which was very thoughtful and much appreciated. The grounds are very attractive but unfortunately access to the lake and surrounding area is poor, the right-hand path was closed for the 5 weeks of my stay. The left side path is steep with a gate difficult to operate, not ideal. Goose droppings everywhere are very unpleasant. General maintenance can be an issue as painfully slow. Access for visitors is very welcoming and relaxed, lunch with residents possible and tea and biscuits always available, drinks and ice cream on a hot day a bonus and greatly enjoyed! Food was good on the whole but weekly menus are very unbalanced e.g. lots of pies/pastry dishes or pasta dishes in quick succession and the vegetables always overcooked! Lunch for carers needs to be scheduled so that residents can be taken back to their rooms without a frustrating wait.
Our Mum was looked after at Arbrook House Care Home for the last 10 months of her life. She died in March 2025. She needed full time supplementary oxygen support as she had Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. I'd like to pay tribute to the manager and all of their team at Arbrook House for the wonderful, care and support they provided Mum. She was very happy there. Everyone, from the nursing and care staff, to the catering staff and the maintenance staff all deserve our praise and grateful thanks. I have no hesitation in recommending Arbrook House to anyone considering a nursing or care home for their loved one.
Items marked good are not a downgrade but we are unable to utilise and have had no previous experience.
My mother, a Quadriplegic with complex needs lived at Arbrook House for 8 years till her recent death at 104yrs. She was very happy, relaxed & comfortable there. She liked the friendly caring staff, her bright room, extensive grounds & fresh foods tailored to her needs. The ongoing physio support maximised her mobility. She could not have been in a better familiar place with her well trained care team who knew her well & were very practiced about End of Life care, working closely with the hospice. The home deserves its Outstanding CQC rating
Mum's so happy living at Arbrook House Care Home. Her room looks over the gorgeous patio garden. She loves her visits down to the lake to feed the ducks. She enjoys her lunches with her table of friends. She particularly loves the harpist & the celloist when they do concerts. I wish there was a dedicated meal plan for diabetics. There must be a lot of residents with type 2 diabetes who would also benefit. She really enjoys her time with the physio who provides 1-2-1 sessions twice a week.
My mum moved into Arbrook House just over a month ago, under palliative care and I cannot express enough how much of a weight has been lifted off our shoulders. Despite her failing health, she is the happiest she ahs been in months and to see her so well looked after is true peace of mind. Every member of staff, from management through to the gardener, chef, handiman, cleaning staff and of course the wonderful carers and nurses has been outstanding in every way. Thank you.
My mother has been a resident at Arbrook House for 8 years. I cannot rate the care, compassion and kindness shown to her by all staff highly enough. Nothing has been too much trouble. The patience of all the carers and the professionalism of all managerial staff is outstanding. I was always made to feel welcome and no one was ever too busy to stop and chat with me. I would especially like to mention the dignity that my mother was shown in her final days. Thank you so much to everyone at Arbrook House.
Our family wanted to hold a 'Marriage Blessing' early for their father who unfortunately might not be around when the actual wedding takes place. The whole Arbrook team embraced this suggestion of an event and went over and above anything we had thought of. The events organiser put all his creative skills and energy into making the afternoon not only beautiful and moving but a day to remember forever. They even brought in a very talented harpist who played all afternoon.
My husband was staying at Arbook House on palliative care, he only had 2 short months but in that time the care he received was excellent from the carers to the office staff, cleaners, laundry, and kitchen staff. In fact, everyone made him and us welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, I am so grateful to each and every one of you who made his final 2 months as comfortable as you could. Much love.
We moved my father here when he lost his ability to walk at age 78. Although he may never get used to his new life completely, he has settled in well and we are so grateful for the sincere care he receives. My father has complicated health needs and we find the nurses do a good job of keeping his wounds and dressings clean and taking photos to keep track. The only thing I would change is that the carers could provide manual hands-on movement daily as he doesn't voluntarily move his own body. Also adding an in-home psychotherapist, masseuse and support during continuous care appeals by keeping more accurate and detailed notes would be helpful.
Excellent care home, wonderful caring staff, great facilities, beautiful surroundings. I cannot recommend a more beautiful, wonderful place and it deserves 10 out of 10.
I have been here for 3 weeks and all I can say is that everyone was so kind and considerate, thank you. The food was wonderful. The carers and nurses were so understanding and patient, thank you. I feel so much better having stayed here for the 3 weeks, again thank you.
Having seen my brother go through the horror of dementia, from a happy, functioning, healthy family man, whose life was curtailed between March and October 2024 in the cruellest way, with no ability to get much out of life, unable to communicate or react to family members. The staff of this lovely care home made it all bearable, with such care, humour and expertise and as important, sympathy. We couldn't have asked for better treatment, never to be taken for granted and so appreciated.
Regarding food, the chefs do their best with what is supplied. The meat is not good quality. I find the staff and management excellent and the care I receive also. I cannot fault anything other than the quality of the meat supplied.
As soon as I visited Arbrook House Care Home, with a view to my husband becoming a resident, I knew Arbrook was for us. From the start, my husband and myself and the members of our families have been treated with extreme kindness and respect. I have been able to feel secure during the 17 months knowing my husband was completely looked after.
I went to view Arbrook House with my wife and we were very impressed with the warm welcome we received. We were shown all the amenities that are available and the room that was being offered to us. The residen experience manager and all the staff we met and have since met have shown a very caring and positive manor as well as a professional approach. The house is kept in an immaculate state of cleanliness and the decoration is excellent, the grounds are a joy to see. My sister has been in Arbrook now for just over 5 weeks. She has a ground floor room which is ideal for her needs. She assures us that all the staff, whether nursing or caring, are very kind and very helpful. As a family we are delighted to see that my sister is happy and so well cared for.
My Father spent his final few months at Arbrook. The care he received was above and beyond. Residents are treated with kindness and respect. The management is approachable, available always, and responsive. Relatives are welcomed with open arms to have lunch and become part of the Arbrook family.
Following an inspection visit to Arbrooke House we were immediately impressed with everything. From reception, bedrooms, dining room, lounge and outside areas. An assessment by the manager was comprehensive resulting in early occupation. We have found all staff to be happy friendly people which makes for a really nice comforting environment for my wife and me as her carer/husband. The quality and variety of food are excellent and the cooking staff are particularly accommodating to meet our every need.
What a fantastic experience my mum had while staying at Arbrook House, following an injury. Being sight impaired, her challenges are somewhat different maybe to others, so this was a consideration for us as a family choosing the correct environment for her. The staff were exceptional, they were kind, caring and treated Mum with dignity and empathy. Nothing was too much trouble. The home is fantastic, it's clean and has beautiful gardens which the staff ensured Mum enjoyed. There was entertainment every morning, lovely meals and I can honestly say she really didn't want to leave. I will always be grateful for the wonderful care you gave to Mum and want to thank the whole team at Arbrook, you are outstanding.
