View Full Details of Brownscombe Care ResidencesI have been visiting Brownscombe for 14 months I am known to staff and feel welcome and at home when I visit. All staff are friendly, approachable, smile and spare the time to chat and update you. The facilities are fantastic as are the variety of activities on offer would highly recommend. All the residents seem happy and content as do the staff.
Having to find a care home for a loved one is never an easy experience, but the moment you walk through the doors at The Brownscombe the staff and surroundings fill you with confidence that it is a very safe environment where the residents are given the very best of care. It is spotlessly clean, the staff, without exception, are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and are always on hand to answer any questions you may have. The food is excellent, the rooms are bright & airy, there are many varied activities for the residents to participate in and the resident care exemplary - what more could you ask for.
All staff very good, very helpful and nothing is to much to ask, my mother is in good care and safe. I feel confident that all thats done for her is without questions Thank everyone for doing your best for my mother.
Brownscombe Lodge is a very attractive building in a superb location. Because of it's location up a hill, the air is always fresh and welcoming. My room was comfortable and well designed with a door opening onto the downstairs entrace so I could open it when weather was hot. The staff were very caring and anxious to please and were always friendly despite being super busy. Overall I would highly recommend Brownscombe. It feels very homely.
My sister was well looked after at the home for the whole of the 6 years she a resident. She felt as though it was her home, and the staff made her feel as it was. The staff were always attentive and caring, and had a positive attitude.
My sister has been a resident of Brownscombe for some time now. She does at times exhibit challenging behaviour but is always treated by staff with care and empathy. Nobody wants their loved one to be in a care home but every time I leave Brownscombe it is in the knowledge that my sister is being well care for. All the staff are welcoming to me, and I feel comfortable raising concerns with them and they are always positive and responsive. The activity staff work hard to provide interesting things for the residents to do. They like to include families and friends in events and activities at the home which is also very welcome.
My brother has been a resident at this care home for a while now and we can't praise it enough, the Manager, Nurses, care staff are so helpful and kind, nothing is too much trouble for residents and family. My brother always looks very well kept with clean bedding, fresh clothes and he looks clean. The meal choices are excellent. Grounds and garden are lovely too. Very happy.
When we first went to look around Brownscombe we were very impressed with the greeting made by the staff and the cleanliness of the home! Out of the other homes that we looked at Brownscombe was our first and only choice! All the staff are so friendly, and are approachable if needed!
If you have your love one in this home, move them. Resident was medicated without any reference to family or POA. Care levels were inadequate and visiting external service raised safeguarding concerns. Staff care reports inadequate and training very poor, movement and handle of residence very poor. Food and service hygiene very poor. Safety system not working properly and alarm calls ignored. Now moved and residency in another home and a completely different person. Don't be fooled by the 4* looks, high turnover in care and agency staff and residence left alone for long periods of time.
"Brownscombe" The building, facilities and the amazing staff far exceed expectations. This is a friendly home from home environment. For patients who can, there is always a range of activities and wonderful events put on. The nursing care is exemplary, the cleaning staff and food are all cooked, and the premises is fantastic. Visitors are cared for too, and in emergency fit waters. They even fed me during my mother's last days. Her end of life care and my time were given in loving care & support. It was more than ever hoped for.
Our Aunt was discharged to Brownscombe after a very long stay in hospital. It was a very upsetting time for her as she was unable to return to her previous care home of 10 years, which she loved, as she now needs more specialist nursing care which they couldn't provide. We were very worried that she would be unable to adapt to a new home but due to the attention and care all of the staff have shown her and her beautiful surroundings she has settled in surprisingly well. The staff at all levels are very welcoming, approachable and always keen to deal with any issues that arise quickly and efficiently, nothing ever seems too much trouble. We are very much hoping this can be a permanent placement for our aunt as we are sure with Brownscombe's continued care she will be very happy there.
My mum stayed at the Brownscombe Care Residency for about four weeks on end of life care. In that time she was so well looked after by all the nursing staff, who were always on hand to deal with any questions I or any other members of our family had. When mum first arrived at the home she was amazed at the facilities on offer like the cinema room and salon. As mum's health deteriorated she was always treated with care and dignity until she sadly passed away.
We were given this care home as one of three options on discharge from hospital after a stroke. It was definitely the best of the three. The management team is approachable and friendly and the care staff are gentle and caring. Any time there was an issue this could be discussed and corrected promptly. The entertainment team are delightful and tries and keep people busy. The rooms vary in size, price and convenience for the communal areas, so you "pay your price".
My dad's stay with you was only a couple of weeks but in my opinion, he was well looked after and cared for. I was very touched by a member of staff who when finished their shift checked on him. Saw he was not quite right and stayed with him until his last breath.
Mum has stayed at Brownscombe Care Residences a few times now and I think it feels like home for her. She adores the company of all the wonderful staff that look after her so very well. I travel a few times a year and I'm delighted that Mum is happy at Brownscombe when I'm away and I know that she is being well taken care of. The rooms are very comfortable and the decor throughout is lovely. Thank you to each and every one of you for helping to make Mum's stays with you a safe, comfortable and happy environment for her to be in.
You cared for my husband with care and compassion and he was a very sick man. I always thought that he was in safe hands with yourselves and the staff were wonderful with him. We were very lucky to obtain a place here and so close to home.
I would like to say from myself and on behalf of my family, how pleased we are with the care that Dad is receiving. We appreciate he is probably not the easiest resident you have had but all the staff have shown him courtesy and respect. I don't think we could have chosen a better home for Dad, so a very big thank you to all the staff.
My mum moved in to Brownscombe Care Residences in early November 2024 with advanced vascular dementia. Sadly, she passed away yesterday. But my family are comforted by the fact she received such wonderful care during her short time at the home. All the staff were kind, empathetic and professional at all times. They have always been so welcoming and accommodating to family and friends who have visited Mum. We could not have chosen a better nursing home for my mum to end her days in. Thank you Brownscombe.
My friend's husband and myself would like to say how much we are pleased and grateful with the care she is getting. The receptionist, the managers, the well-being department and every carer have shown us courtesy and respect and we would like to show our appreciation.
From the very first there was a feeling that all the staff really did care about all the residents, as apposed to caring because they were supposed to. Not one single time did I visit my mother and not think she wasn't being looked after impeccably. She was looked after in a way quite impossible at home, and it was never lost on me that the staff treated her as I would. It was reassuring that any issues there occasionally were (as indeed you would expect there to just occasionally be given the nature of a care home), were always addressed and resolved. I have nothing but praise for all the staff and would not hesitate to recommend the home to anyone needing to find a safe and caring environment for their loved ones should it become necessary. When my mother died she did so as peacefully as imaginable, and to the very end was cared for. The best I can say really is that 'care home' actually does apply, as the staff care and it does have a home feel.
