View Full Details of The Sycamore and Poplars Care HomeThe care and support offered to my mother and myself during the last weeks of her life was excellent. It was palliative and person-centred. All staff were dedicated to the needs of my mother and made sure we did not feel isolated, anxious or fearful about the journey we were facing.
The Sycamore Care Home is a friendly, welcoming well-run residential home. All the staff are very friendly. Dad has thrived since he was admitted 2 years ago. My only gripe is Dad has to pay an awful lot of money weekly, whereas I'm sure there are a few residents that don't pay anything, or very little for the same care. Care homes should be government-funded for everyone. Thus the low score for value for money.
Always kind and caring staff. Care home clean and well maintained. Perfect place for my mother. Mothers room is always clean and tidy. She is well looked after. Cannot fault the care home. A warm and pleasant place to be.
Brilliant. It’s called a care home, and it is quite obvious that all the staff really do care. My aunt could not be in a better place. I am kept regularly updated on my aunt’s condition and her medication needs. Whenever we visit we are always made to feel very welcome
The staff have been very welcoming of my dad and made the transition from hospital to the home very smooth and with a lot of dignity and care shown towards our family and my dad, he has settled in and the carers have been really attentive and kind with my dad I couldn't ask for anymore in a what can be difficult circumstances integrating into a new place to live
I have resided here since February 2022 and in general, I am very happy. Mostly, the staff are wonderful and dedicated to our care. Very occasionally, there have been anxieties over the feeling of loss of dignity, regarding the use of toilet facilities and needs, especially during the night. The garden is a blessing, especially to nature lovers. I have a theory that when carers need to instruct residents, such as sit or stand or move limbs etc. if the word please was added, it would add to our sense of dignity. (Also, thank you). It would benefit all staff and residents alike.
Unfortunately, we needed your services at a very sad time. As a family, we didn't want mum to go to you due to previous public bad press. However, I found the care and support that you gave to me, my family and especially my mum was excellent. I feel the support care and compassion shown to us as a family by all members of your staff was excellent and above and beyond. It was very much appreciated at a very difficult time.
My dad has been very well looked after. The carers and staff are really nice. My dad has put on 3 stone since he came here in March, with regular meals etc. When he was at home, we couldn't get him to eat and he wanted to stay in bed all day. I'm very happy with the care he receives.
Staff are truly dedicated and caring. Staff are very accommodating. My mum was very comfortable and happy while she was there. The management are very supportive and understanding. I can’t thank you enough for all the support.
The Sycamore and Poplars staff are truly dedicated and caring, no matter what time I phone, I can speak with my Aunt, and I can hear in her voice how happy she is. Staff are very accommodating when I call, as this can often be either very early or late depending on my own work commitments. It's lovely knowing that she is happy and safe.
After recently visiting a close friend, I have to say that I was extremely pleased with everything at this care home. The staff were very professional yet remained friendly and approachable. They went above and beyond to ensure we could have a good time visiting together. The visiting process was all very efficient and safe. My friend was extremely happy, and we had a lovely time. She’s obviously very well cared for, and I can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you for everything you all do.
My mother has only been there a short while, and they have made her feel like it’s her home, which is amazing! I live in London and was very anxious, I feel happy, contented and don’t worry about her being on her own. The whole team can’t do enough for you; they are caring and professional and have made a super environment for the elderly whatever their needs. I cannot praise them enough, and it does show through my mother, which is all a family can ask for. I would recommend the care home to anyone. I personally have had exceptional service and communication from every member of staff that I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with.
The Sycamore and Poplars have been through many ups and downs with management changeover, but they are consistent, and my sister is very well looked after. During this pandemic, I have arrived at the home, and she always looks happy, clean, and the staff are excellent.
My great aunt has been a resident within Sycamore and Poplars for many years now. The national lockdown has been tough on everyone, but more so for us that have loved ones in care homes. Due to the national restrictions and issues surrounding Covid-19 families have been unable to visit, this has been a very troubling time for us all. Thanks to the amazing staff across all departments within the home, we have been able to maintain regular contact with our relative. The staff are always very respectful and friendly, and whenever I have called, nothing is too much trouble for them. They have ensured that the restrictions we have all faced due to Covid-19 have had minimal impact upon the residents. Whenever I have called up, the home has always had a pleasant experience; I have always heard laughter and song, and they go out of their way to reassure us. The care provided is second to none. I cannot praise the Sycamore and Poplars enough. This team goes above and beyond and truly cares!
The Sycamore is the most friendly, caring, clean home I have ever been in. This year, the home, with a new manager, has made so many improvements in all aspects, staff training, all documentation ie care plans, risk assessment, all the staff give 100% to looking after the resident needs. Nothing is too much trouble. They are led by a very experienced manager who knows what her responsibilities are; she is always honest and supports all her staff, residents and family of residents. Residents rights are always promoted and encouraged to join in activities and access local service. My sister also agrees with this statement.
My mum has been resident at Sycamore and Poplars for some years now. We have always been welcomed to look at all aspects of the home. Let me start with the major asset of home, the staff. The staff are very friendly, approachable and hard working. They are also all always polite and respectful, and we are therefore able to depend on them for Mum's care with total trust. They are all aware of Mum's needs and appear to assist by instinct, they are so natural. I have noticed that every resident is treated equally and it is truly a team effort. I'm aware that all information regarding Mum is recorded in a correct manner and that confidentiality and professionalism is shown throughout her care. When I refer to staff I mean all. The cleaners who keep the place spotless, handy men for their work, the chefs for the fantastic food as well as the carers and admin. You should all feel so proud and sorry if I missed any group, I mean ALL of you. From our family THANK YOU.
I find it very good as my wife has been in The Sycamore for 11 years.
I find The Sycamores to be a clean and caring home. The staff are friendly and approachable. The care my mother has received has been exceptional.
My stepfather had been in Sycamore before a couple of years ago and thrived there. He was moved into independent living again as he made so much progress in the few months he was there. He is now back, at my request, following some weeks at hospital with 3 bouts of pneumonia. I was told he wouldn't live for more than a week, but after a month in Sycamores on end of life care, he is eating meals, drinking, socialising and enjoying life. Thanks to the proper homely environment and wonderful 'family of staff'. Even I, at the age of 66, wouldn't mind a stay in there to enjoy all that's on offer. (I don't need it, thank God). Not modernised or posh or starchy, but home in the true sense.
After being very poorly in hospital my mum was admitted to The Sycamore and Poplars Care Home and has been there for nearly four weeks now. In that time I can't believe how much she has improved in health and wellbeing, all thanks to the home manager and all the staff for their wonderful support and care. Mum is happy, eating well, sleeping well and she has had her hair done! A big, big thank you to everyone at Sycamore.
