View Full Details of Wordsworth HouseThe home manager supported my mother through an issue that mum had promptly and professionally and took a lot of the time to personally keep mum up to date. The manager considers this part of her job, but I am so grateful that she went above and beyond and spoke up for mum. She made mum feel safe. The manager ensures as far as possible that the same people care for residents and this made mum's time in the home so much better than just a caring experience. Mum made some deep and genuine connections with staff and they were constantly cheerful and loving and loving with mum. Thank you.
I'm not sure when the breakdown of communication with my mum started, but break down they did. After 5 years we were fairly happy with the home. But somewhere down the line the management decided they couldn't cope with her Alzheimer's advancing and so they gave an 89 year old former social worker an eviction notice out of the blue. Its delivery felt unnecessarily cruel, the contents of the letter needlessly harsh and cold. I will never forget the day I came to move her out her crying with a resident *and* a carer. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I've witnessed. It seemed an avoidable situation and in the end there wasn't much care in this care home - at least she's finally seen a doctor and podiatrist where she's moved to. There are some amazing people who work in Wordsworth House - harder working carers, cleaners and cooks you could not find. But the management style delivery leaves a lot to be desired. I feel so disappointed and let-down by Wordsworth House & Akari Care.
I was made very welcome. The staff were helpful and responded to requests and questions.
Warm welcome when arrived. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Any issues are addressed promptly. More private space to meet friends and relatives would be useful. Also the Bristro could have a small fridge for milk.
Very happy with the care and support my mother receives. The staff are absolutely amazing with her. I only gave satisfactory on food as some points could be served with accompaniments, pork with apple, etc. More choices of desserts, they seem to be repetitive.
I was genuinely impressed and deeply moved by the care at Wordsworth House. I was apprehensive about my mother going into a home, but the staff exceeded all my hopes. They weren't just hardworking and professional-they brought kindness, patience, and even humour, making an immense difference. With 24/7 access, I visited at all hours and always saw genuine care. The staff truly valued the residents, creating a warm and compassionate environment. When my mother sadly passed away, their support was exceptional. They handled everything with such understanding, knowing exactly how to comfort each of us. I am profoundly grateful I chose Wordsworth House. The kindness, humour, and dedication of the staff made a difficult time so much easier, and I cannot thank them enough.
Eevryone at Wordsworth House treats my mum with genuine affection and concern for her welfare. Although bedbound and suffering form dementia, staff chat to her, are cheery and encouraging. On visiting Wordsworth House, I find it reassuring that all staff, on any floor, know her by name and are interested in any comments and any concerns. Staff are proactive and communicate any issues to me in a timely fashion, either verbally or by telephone. Wordsworth House has been a very good choice of care home.
My father initially went in for respite due to the death of my mother. Every request I made to the staff was carried out. The staff were excellent, friendly and treated him with care and humour which I appreciated. He ended up staying for 11 months and passed away in their care. I cannot thank the staff enough for all they did and will always be grateful for the care my dad received.
Overall staff have been great although I think there should be more than two staff on Dad's floor for breaks, workload and safety. And more food options.
The care and kindness, often good-humoured is quite evident.
I believe my mother receives the best standard of care possible. My mother requires assistance with all aspects of daily life and always presents as clean and tidy. She seems comfortable and content. Each member of staff is respectful, courteous and friendly. There is a real affection in each interaction. We as a family are extremely grateful.
I have no complaints to say about this care home.
This is a very well-kept care home. The staff are caring to the residents and always willing to help. I have had no concerns and would always speak to the manager if I did. My mother is settled and staff know her needs. Even the domestic staff go above their duty for the residents.
My mum was only at home for less than three weeks. She was well looked after. The staff were all amazing and caring. All the staff I encountered were friendly and welcoming. My mum never got the chance to take part in any activities as she was quite poorly, so I cannot comment. Overall, a lovely comfortable home with great staff who are caring and friendly.
My mam was a resident at Wordsworth House for almost two years, until she died in February 2024, at the age of 102 years. Although Mam was diagnosed with dementia and had mobility problems, she was alert and interested in many topics. My sister and I were so happy with the wonderful care she was given during her time at Wordsworth. The staff were all kind, patient and caring at all times, and always showed respect and preserved Mam's dignity. We will always be grateful to them.
My mam was in Wordsworth for nearly two years up until she sadly passed away in February. During her time there, she was very happy and enjoyed getting to know the staff, some of whom became more like friends to both her, me and my sister. I am so grateful to all the staff for their excellent care and support. They always treat Mam with kindness, patience, humour, encouragement and dignity. Always willing to go the extra mile.
Wonderful care by wonderful, caring people. Everyone was kind, efficient and helpful. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their hard work.
I would like to thank the staff at Wordsworth House Jesmond for looking after my brother with terminal cancer. His wife died on New Year's Day 01/01/2023. He was in the home for eight glorious months they made him and my family very welcome. Could not thank the staff enough. He loved all the staff both day shift and night shift. Thanks very much.
I wish to express our gratitude and praise for the care and nursing given to my brother-in-law while he was in the care of Wordsworth House in Jesmond. All the staff were fantastic with the way they looked after him, he wouldn't have lasted so long without him staying at this home.
Words cannot express how wonderful this place is. Everyone at Wordsworth House care for the residents as if they were their own family member. My uncle came here January 2023 and very recently lost his battle with cancer. Every single team member loved him and his fantastic sense of humour. He did not want to leave and felt as though everyone was an extended family member. Thank you from all of the family for making my uncle feel so special from the minute he came to you.
