Wordsworth House has a lovely, friendly atmosphere. It becomes part of your life and from reception to visiting your relative you are greeted as a friend. The longer serving staff are good at keeping you up to date with your relatives day to day moods, activities, food consumption. I was so impressed with concerts from local school, singers, the way the home is decorated for Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Royal and Sporting Events, and the quiz, activity and exercise classes as well as church services. My only suggestion would be to have the television to shown videos of: Strictly, old films, interspersed with just music playing rather than Quiz Shows, News, all afternoon

My experiences at Wordsworth House have always been top-class. I cannot fault them in any way. All of the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. I have seen firsthand "instances" they have had to put up with. I praise them for how they handle these situations. I could not do their job. They should all be proud of themselves. I certainly am. They are all hardworking people with hearts of gold.

My dad was only at Wordsworth house for 2 weeks at the end of his life. I really couldn't fault the care that he received. He was looked after extremely well, was always comfortable, clean and the carers took time to get to know him. It was very difficult to put my dad into the home but once he was there we could relax knowing that he was being looked after so well. I would not hesitate to recommend Wordsworth house to anyone looking for a care home for their relative.

My nanna has been here over a year now. She took some settling in and can be very difficult at times but the staff are amazing. Everyone you speak to is happy and chatty and it feels like they really care. My nanna calls them her friends and it does feel like that. When she kicks off we feel like she's the only one however the staff take it in their stride and deal with her. My hat goes off to them.

My mother was given a place at Woodsworth House for end-of-life care. As a family, we were distraught and did not know of this place. However, from the moment we went through the doors, we were met with kindness, compassion, and so much more. All of the staff are amazing, not only looked after my mam with the best care possible but looked after us too, my sister and brothers - nothing was too much bother for anyone - they really looked after us all, and cared for my mam until the end, all staff present giving her a guard of honour as she left with the funeral staff.

My dad is happy with his surroundings - one carer in particular goes above and beyond to make sure he has everything he needs in order to keep him comfortable and most of all happy.
The carers who care for him on a regular basis have made a point of getting to know him and certain ways he likes them done.

His room is mostly keep lovely and clean and there is always someone on hand if needed assistance in his room. Also the laundry staff are all lovely and extremely helpful.

My husband received very good care whilst living there for 5 months. All the staff showed warmth, respect and kindness to him and myself and his sons. Any issues I raised were addressed quickly and resolved. The senior staff were accessible at all times. I would recommend Wordsworth House to anyone seeing a care home for relatives.

My dad had a room on the nursing floor for 5 months where he then passed away expectedly (with terminal cancer).

The staff all tried very hard to get to know dad - who needed a lot of attention. They were all friendly, professional and considerate throughout. We spent a lot of time at Wordsworth house so got to know a lot of them.

They were especially good in dads final days and made them as comfortable as possible for dad and for us, we will always appreciate that.

I would not hesitate to recommend Wordsworth house.

A lovely and friendly home which has improved immensely since 2014, due to the great management. My mam received genuine, friendly care and efficient nursing. I watched her improve day by day during her time at Wordsworth House. The home is clean, well organised and attractive with creative touches like the little community library, etc. Though my mam was glad to get home, she always felt safe and secure and would consider respite there.

The home manager supported my mother through an issue that mum had promptly and professionally and took a lot of the time to personally keep mum up to date. The manager considers this part of her job, but I am so grateful that she went above and beyond and spoke up for mum. She made mum feel safe. The manager ensures as far as possible that the same people care for residents and this made mum's time in the home so much better than just a caring experience. Mum made some deep and genuine connections with staff and they were constantly cheerful and loving and loving with mum. Thank you.

Overall Experience

I'm not sure when the breakdown of communication with my mum started, but break down they did. After 5 years we were fairly happy with the home. But somewhere down the line the management decided they couldn't cope with her Alzheimer's advancing and so they gave an 89 year old former social worker an eviction notice out of the blue. Its delivery felt unnecessarily cruel, the contents of the letter needlessly harsh and cold. I will never forget the day I came to move her out her crying with a resident *and* a carer. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I've witnessed. It seemed an avoidable situation and in the end there wasn't much care in this care home - at least she's finally seen a doctor and podiatrist where she's moved to. There are some amazing people who work in Wordsworth House - harder working carers, cleaners and cooks you could not find. But the management style delivery leaves a lot to be desired. I feel so disappointed and let-down by Wordsworth House & Akari Care.

Very happy with the care and support my mother receives. The staff are absolutely amazing with her. I only gave satisfactory on food as some points could be served with accompaniments, pork with apple, etc. More choices of desserts, they seem to be repetitive.

I was genuinely impressed and deeply moved by the care at Wordsworth House. I was apprehensive about my mother going into a home, but the staff exceeded all my hopes. They weren't just hardworking and professional-they brought kindness, patience, and even humour, making an immense difference. With 24/7 access, I visited at all hours and always saw genuine care. The staff truly valued the residents, creating a warm and compassionate environment. When my mother sadly passed away, their support was exceptional. They handled everything with such understanding, knowing exactly how to comfort each of us. I am profoundly grateful I chose Wordsworth House. The kindness, humour, and dedication of the staff made a difficult time so much easier, and I cannot thank them enough.

Eevryone at Wordsworth House treats my mum with genuine affection and concern for her welfare. Although bedbound and suffering form dementia, staff chat to her, are cheery and encouraging. On visiting Wordsworth House, I find it reassuring that all staff, on any floor, know her by name and are interested in any comments and any concerns. Staff are proactive and communicate any issues to me in a timely fashion, either verbally or by telephone. Wordsworth House has been a very good choice of care home.

My father initially went in for respite due to the death of my mother. Every request I made to the staff was carried out. The staff were excellent, friendly and treated him with care and humour which I appreciated. He ended up staying for 11 months and passed away in their care. I cannot thank the staff enough for all they did and will always be grateful for the care my dad received.
