View Full Details of Barchester Wilsmere House Care HomeFriendly, caring staff. Many activities every day. Plentiful lovely food.
I spent two weeks at Wilsmere House rehabilitating after a partial knee replacement. I could not return home after surgery because I live alone and my house has a lot of stairs. During my stay at Wilsmere, everything was taken care of very professionally and I was treated with an enormous amount of genuine kindness by everybody. I was therefore able to fully concentrate on my physio exercises and my recovery was much quicker than expected. My other knee replacement is due in several months and I am looking forward to another two-week stay at the Wilsmere.
My brother is receiving exceptional care in the Brookshill Unit. Every single member of staff I have met have been very caring and supportive. They made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we first came to look around. The first person I met was the manager who greeted us with a smile and made us feel at ease immediately. Nothing is too much trouble and they go above and beyond to help. My brother is terminally ill and it gives us great comfort knowing how well he is treated and cared for. I can't fully put into words what a difference the care they give makes to him on a daily basis. The surroundings are lovely and feel like home. It's always a lovely atmosphere when you come in and staff always seem happy to see you and have a chat. Couldn't ask for anything better.
A wonderful place to be in, staff are wonderful to be with, very pleasant, happy to work with. My hubby is very happy and comfortable, he is enjoying his life.
My nephew has been a resident since December 2024. I have visited him a few times and here are my observations so far: - Very warm and welcoming. Well-decorated and spotlessly clean. - Staff seem to have a real spring in their step, happy and can't do enough to help. - Nursing staff and carers are excellent. - Admin/Reception Manager was my first point of contact when I emailed in. She created a very favourable first impression and is solution-oriented. - Positive culture must come from Leadership and Management teams. Hands-down the best care home I have visited.
Very impressed with the way my mother has been cared for. The staff and management are first-class. The home is very clean and run professionally.
I just want to ensure a nurse, in particular, gets the acknowledgement she deserves. She has been an amazing nurse to my father and works with attention to detail. She is kind, compassionate and extremely caring. We could not thank her enough for her work with my father. Although my father cannot communicate, we have noticed he is relaxed when the nurse does his oral care. Huge shout out to another member of staff, in particular, too - she is absolutely brilliant. My ratings are a reflection of the home in general.
A well-organised and well-run organisation. My friend seems to be well looked after and is very happy being a resident. The entertainment is extremely good. The staff are very caring.
I cannot praise all the staff in Kenton Ward, Wilsmere House enough. They have looked after my brother for many, many years and nothing is too much for them. The ward manager is excellent (as are all the staff) and her communication skills are fantastic. She goes the extra mile to answer my queries, even on her days off! I have had dealings with another care home regarding another family member. On the face of it appeared to be a 5-star hotel however when it came to comparing the staff it was no contest. At the end of the day, it is all about the care and compassion of the staff and the staff in Wilsmere House have that in abundance. I should also mention the staff in the reception, the office support, and the senior management team. They have always been helpful and very professional and again are a credit to the organisation.
The carers are always willing to help if further assistance is required. Friendly and welcoming although I believe they do not have the time to properly ensure each resident is comfortable every minute. Hence, they would benefit with additional staff.
Friendly, happy staff. Laugh and joke with my husband and make him smile. Only been here a couple of weeks after a very long illness in the hospital. Now showing real signs of improvement since being a resident.
I cannot thank all the staff enough for the great care they gave my dad. Nothing was too much trouble. Not only did they care for Dad, but cared for my mum, my husband and myself, making sure we were ok and coping. The staff would regularly check on Dad, and when he eventually had to stay in bed, they took care of all his needs. We were kept up to date on all Dad's care and any changes that may have needed to be made.
I am very happy with the service at Barchester Wilsmere House, the staff look after my mum so well. I find the staff and management approachable (this is very important) to myself and family. The activities staff are excellent. They always put on great shows and included my mum in the majority of the activities. My mum's persoanl care is done excellently as I like it done. My mum always looks well groomed and well dressed and well turned out.
Mum moved to Wilsmere in June from another care home. From the beginning her care needs have been met to a high standard. Mum has an excellent routine from personal care to attention to her nutrition and even her makeup. Staff are always positive, friendly and smiling when Mum's dementia makes caring more challenging. The activities co-ordinators always see that Mum is involved and there is attention paid to her as an individual.
On the Kenton unit, all residents and their families are treated with the utmost respect and care. No task is too big for the staff who go out of their way to not only care excellently for the residents but also get to know the residents on a personal level. There is an atmosphere of care, joy and family throughout this unit.
The team at Wilsmere have been extremely kind and caring for our dear dad and I can't praise them all highly enough. The nursing, caring and support staff have all been lovely and very helpful ensuring that Dad was taken to hospital when necessary and welcoming him back.
My mother has resided at Wilsmere Care Home since January 2023. My family and I have been extremely impressed by the care and professional nursing treatment she has received since this has become her home. The staff are very friendly and engaging and Mum who is fortunately still very lucid and bright has nothing but praise for everybody involved in her care. Whenever I visit Mum, the nurse on duty, in particular, is always very informative about her progress or any issues she may have. When my brothers and I leave Mum to go home we are all happy that she is in a very safe environment. Recently when she had to go to hospital briefly she was very keen to get back to Wilsmere House and 'see her chums'. I think that speaks volumes.
I am a regular visitor to a resident I’m close to, he is in the Kenton dept, he’s always clean and well looked after. The staff are lovely and always friendly. I actually refer to it as his hotel. The unit manager is always super helpful and kind too.
What a great care home, very good help towards the people that are in the care. I would recommend the home to others in need. My friend has been in the home as a patient for a year always smiling and happy. We always take him out.
My husband had been in Kenton Unit for the past 6 and a half years and I can say thank you to all the lovely staff who look after my husband, and the lovely unit manager who keeps me updated at all times.
