The herons is a brilliant care home, staff very friendly and welcoming. They keep us updated on how our dad is doing and any changes that have happened. The herons is always very clean and tidy. The meals at the herons are excellent and they always have a choice of what they want. Plenty of daily activities to do, they have a long garden at the back where residents can enjoy a stroll or sit down in various seating areas.
My mother has been a resident at the Herons for a few years and I can't praise it highly enough. It is well managed, safe and clean and the staff are kind, friendly and competent. The manager and senior staff members communicate promptly with me when necessary and relatives are encourage to join meetings to contribute opinions and suggestions. There is an amazing programme of activities morning and afternoon seven days a week (and no two weeks are the same!) She plays games, does fitness sessions, enjoys creative activities and there are regular visits from, for example, local primary schoolchildren, musicians and a range of animals and their humans (even including owls, reptiles and furry ones) In addition, regular trips out are arranged for residents. Overall, I know that we made the right choice for my mother
A few months ago my mother moved into The Herons care home in Toton. Since she has resided there her life has been filled with such excitement, her eyes have a beautiful twinkle again. Every day she participates in the many activities the home provides, on many occasions visitors will drop in to give very interesting speeches, never a dull moment from one day to the next. My mother thoroughly enjoys the meals and says they are of an exceptional standard. All the staff are so genuinely loving & caring, they truly go above & beyond to ensure everyone is cared for & happy. The home is a spotlessly clean environment. I feel so blessed that my mother was accepted as a resident in this absolutely wonderful home, I myself live on the other side of the world & have no worries whatsoever knowing she is so happy. Thanks to all the staff, who do such a wonderful job.
I can only give positive feedback .... the staff at Herons are empathic and caring, going above and beyond their role to give a bespoke care. I am always kept informed of any concerns or changes for my loved one. When I speak to the Team I am reassured, there is no sense of shame or judgement at Herons, a love based approach is their foundation.
My mother came to the Herons in February this year and was made very welcome from the first day.All the staff are friendly, polite and nothing is too much trouble. Any queries I have are answered efficiently, if my mother needs additional care - (doctor)the staff include her for the next doctors visit, or if urgent get the doctor out. The manager, runs this care home with the utmost respect for the residents, and their needs are put first. The environment is relaxed, comfortable and clean at all times.
My relative is very happy living at the Heron's. She feels safe and secure, knowing someone is at hand should she need them, which she wouldn't have had in her own home. She found the initial move very difficult, but knows she made the right decision. She gets on well with the staff and finds them helpful and caring. Some go over and beyond to make her more comfortable, whilst others sit and chat and make her laugh.
My Mother-in-law joined the residents of The Herons in March 2025. Prior to this she was been living alone and self caring, having been a widow for 27 years. Since becoming a resident she has gone through a number of emotional states from feeling comfortable and safe to being angry and agressive in manner. The most recent issue blew up over a misunderstanding about a basic houskeeping issue. Each event has been handled by the team with patience and tact. Giving time to listen to her and thereby defusing the situation gently. Her son and I have been kept informed and we have been able to contribute information that will add to the teams knowledge and understanding of her reactions. We are more than happy with the level of care she is receiving and would not hesitate to recommend The Herons.
My relative moved to the Herons in spring 2025 with much reluctance. However, she loves it as she has company, and is no longer in mental decline. She is moving about more and has had no hospital admissions since moving here.
The Herons is a really lovely place for mum to be. The staff are all very attentive and mum is quite happy with her daily routines. If ever we have a question or query, the staff always try to sort it out as soon as possible.
My mum has been a resident at The Herons for just over 3 years. The care and support she has received from the whole team has been amazing. Mum recently passed away and the support they provided to me was outstanding. One of the team was with mum so that she was not alone when she passed away. I can not recommend them highly enough.
My aunt has been a resident in the Herons for the past two and a half years, she always looks clean and well cared for when i visit. She seems to get along with most of the carers and never complains. She enjoys her dinners apart from the fish pie lol, indeed she always says that the food is very good. Her general health has improved and she seems well , if there is an issue its been dealt with by a visit from the doctor. The room she is in is clean and tidy and has some of her possesions with her. All in all we as a family are happy with the care she receives, and hope it remains so. The staff are friendly and most are easy and helpful .
We are very pleased with the care and support that our Mum receives. She has been a resident for three and a half years. She enjoys the activities, particularly the crafts. The home provides her with plenty of people to talk to and she's happier living at The Herons than living on her own at home. The home provides a safe environment for her to live in. The medical care is good and she has always been seen by the doctor if she has needed to. The home provides the residents with a weekly hairdresser and other services are provided where necessary. We have peace of mind, knowing she is so well looked after by all of the team.
My Aunty is cared for in the Herons She is happy with the care given All of her needs are met The home is always clean And as a family member I am well Informed as to any changes in care The staff are friendly and supportive Always act in a professional manner I would recommend the Herons to anyone Looking to place their relative in care
My mum became a long term resident in June 2024 following very serious illness which left her unable to return home to my dad as she had significant mobility issues. The staff have cared for my mum with kindness and encouraged her to do as much as possible for herself. It's very much a family environment with many staff having worked there for a long time. Visitors can make use of a number of very homely spaces, including a kitchen/conservatory and a reading room. The home is spotlessly clean and residents laundry is always returned having been laundered with great care. There's an extensive activities calendar which caters for a wide range of interests. There's food is usually good, with the option to ask for more if you have a larger appetite. My mum thrived in the Herons and by some miracle has now returned home to my dad. The Herons care and support from everyone made that happen.
My mum went to The Herons in July 2024. She did not want to go, it took a while for her to settle. She began taking part in activities and her smile returned. In Jan 2025 she became poorly and we knew it was the end of her life. She remained at The Herons and was cared for with great dignity and respect. We as family members were treated with such care. I cannot thank everyone enough. Excellent and highly recommended.
The staff were always helpful and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Mum was always treated with respect. She always looked well cared for. When she was ill she was always treated with dignity, as were her family. The home always had a nice atmosphere and staff and residents were always happy. Would recommend the home.
My mum was admitted to The Herons Care Home some 6 months ago with unspecified dementia. She was a very active woman but unfortunately the dementia was aggressive and she passed away peacefully in December. During the time being cared for The Herons staff were amazing when looking after my mum but also helping our family through this terrible experience. The care home is clean, friendly and very functional. We cannot praise everyone enough for the care, information and how much love and attention they gave to my mum. Thank you everyone.
Excellent facility. Staff are all outstanding in carrying out their duties.
My dad has been at The Herons since February. I can't say enough good things about this place. The Herons has everything you could hope for, for a modern care home, yet retains a homely feel. Spotlessly clean and amazingly friendly and helpful staff. My dad is so well looked after here, it's been a massive weight lifted off me. They work so hard here, but still make time for a chat. Keep up the great work, and thanks for looking after Dad.
