View Full Details of MillfieldMum has been a resident at millfield since November 2021. The care towards mum and the support towards us has always been outstanding from day one. Unfortunately mum had a 6 week spell in hospital due to her mental health, Alzheimer's and falls in July, it was touch and go as to whether she would be able to go back home as she was so poorly but millfield did everything they could to get her back safely and with a proper support package in place, since she has been back she has started talking again, walking, eating and drinking, ( which she had not done for 6 weeks) this is all down to the hard work, commitment, dedication, continuity of care love, professionalism and kindness from each and every member of staff that work at millfield. I would like to say a huge thank you not just from me but from my mum and all the family. Anchor homes should be extremely proud of all the staff working at millfield.
Mum has now been a resident at Millfield for a year and it is so comforting to continue to see the same first class support and care and cleanliness. Absolutely excellent, with a will to provide care with dignity and encourage a social community with varied activities and celebration events. Everyone has a welcoming smile whenever I visit and it is clear that they are up to speed with the needs to support my mother plus providing regular feedback to any questions I have. Thank you all at Millfield as I really do not know what I would do without your support.
Mum has just finished 2 weeks of respite care at Millfield. Ann was friendly and professional from the start of our engagement, arranging everything. Mum moved in seamlessly and was given a great room with a nice view. She was introduced to other people in the home, so she could socialize with them. There were various activities arranged, including singing. Whenever I spoke to mum she kept talking about how nice the food was. It was a great stay for her and I am sure mum will be going again, if they will let her.
Mum initially joined Millfield Care Home for respite for a short while after her health deteriorated whilst living alone, this was an enormous relief for me and my siblings as our efforts to look after mum in her own surroundings became overwhelming and impossible to continue, as we constantly worried about mum's care 24 hours a day. From the very 1st enquiry to this day we cannot thank the care and administration staff enough at Millfield Care Home. They're all extremely friendly and professional showing loving care. A great example was when mum made her own mind-up to become a full time resident, she told one of the care staff who bent down to mums height and gave a her a proper loving hug and a kiss on the cheek and mum beamed with a great smile. Mum's told all of her family that she "like's it here and that they really do look after me", we are so relieved knowing that she's in good hands and interacting with other residents which has also lifted her mental wellbeing.
I have been really impressed with Millfield. It's such a huge step for anyone to go into supported living but Mum settled in well. The staff are caring, know their residents well and are attentive to their individual needs, even down to who they like to sit with at mealtimes. They also know relatives and are very welcoming. I am only able to visit infrequently but I am kept informed through the monthly newsletter, pictures and occasional emails. It was a particular pleasure to see how the team helped Mum celebrate her 95th birthday recently. They put in a lot of effort to make residents feel special particularly on their birthdays with cake and gifts. Mum was thoroughly enjoying herself dancing to Frank Sinatra sung by a live entertainer. Other special occasions are also regularly celebrated and clearly enjoyed. Well done all.
My sister has been in Millfield for 17 months and so pleased we picked Millfield. The first few weeks I was heartbroke, but now I smile when leaving her. The staff are wonderful and very helpful if we have to ask details. The food is amazing and I can say my wife eats everything. I love all the entertainment for the residents and all the hard work they put in to it. Thank you staff at Millfield.
The staff at Millfield went above and beyond to make sure Mum enjoyed a lovely 93rd birthday. For a small sum we were able to book family members in to join her for lunch (a service they have recently re-introduced since suspension during Covid). The kitchen staff had baked her a lovely birthday cake too. Special dining tables had been set up with balloons and banners. There was a card and gifts from the staff too. Photos and videos were taken for the social media page and the magazine - both good ways to see what activities are taking place. Last week Mum and other residents were taken on an outing to Portland Basin for a canal boat ride. It's so good that she can get out occasionally, despite needing a wheelchair to do so
It was my mum's 93rd birthday today, and the home permitted us to join her for lunch. The food was superb and there was a home made birthday cake complete with candles, and birthday decorations around the table. It made it really special for mum. Nothing is ever too much trouble and we are all so pleased to have found this superb home for mum where she is cared for and cherished.
We are always pleased to see now our friend is looked after and to see that he is happy being here. The staff are very friendly and we can see that he is comfortable and content.
My aunt - Wendy Murray - has been a resident at Millfield for over a year and myself and my wife have visited on several occasions. The staff are always excellent and very caring. The staff were extremely helpful in organising a 90th Birthday celebration last weekend if I lived closer I would be booking my room there when I need the kind of care that Millfield provide. You should all feel very proud of the work you do
Mum's had a bumpy ride with her health in recent years, and I have to pay tribute to the whole team at Millfield for helping her through it all with good cheer, kindness and calm efficiency. The staff are such lovely people and so good at their jobs, I honestly don't think you could find better. I never have a whisper of doubt that she is looked after with exactly the same dignity, care and understanding when I am not there, as when I am. As well as the friendly and helpful staff, I also commend the delicious and varied menu, cleanliness and maintenance, programme of activities, facilities, safety and security, and the attractive indoor and outdoor spaces. It was a fraught time leading up to Mum giving up her independence, but these days I can sleep easy in my bed knowing she's safe and sound, comfortable and cared for by professionals.
My aunt was a resident for eleven and a half years prior to her death in April 2025 . She was 97 . Her care throughout was exemplary ; it could not have been better. She always felt safe , content and even loved ; she considered Millfield to be her true home. Each time she was hospitalised she was welcomed back upon her return and every allowance and adaption made for her safety and comfort. I very much doubt that she would have lived the long life that she had anywhere else .
My mother moved into Millfield when she was 102, and while giving up her independence was initially difficult, the lovely, welcoming staff helped to make that transition much easier. They encouraged her to join in - from making Christmas cakes to Bingo, while also respecting her privacy if she wanted to stay in her room and read. My mum soon made friends, and the carers ensured that this nascent friendship group was accommodated in the dining room, at all mealtimes. The catering staff were terrific, too: the food was always well-cooked and varied, and when my mum lost her appetite, they would go out of their way to prepare food that would tempt her to eat. My mum lived in Millfield for three years. When her health inevitably began to decline, I was truly humbled, and extremely grateful, for the care and compassion displayed by all those who looked after her in Millfield. I really cannot fault Millfield as a Care home. When my turn comes, I hope my children will choose Millfield for me.
My mother went into respite care for 2 weeks in May. She was made to feel very comfortable from the start by the staff, her room was really pleasant as it looked over the garden. All the staff were excellent and looked after all her needs.
It's been more than two months since my mother arrived at Millfield, and we couldn't be more pleased with how things have turned out. After a period of great family stress, it's been a huge relief to see her settling in so well. The staff are immensely kind - big-hearted - and attentive. They respond to any questions, concerns and requests immediately, and are clearly very fond of all the characters in the home - now including my mother, with her own idiosyncrasies! The care is exemplary and extremely personalised to the needs of each resident. The atmosphere is warm, easy-going, calm and welcoming - visitors are greeted with smiles by everyone they meet, and a lot of effort is put into getting to know friends and family. From the restaurant to the shop, the daily activities and the hairdresser, the facilities are great - plenty of stimulation and entertainment for residents. All the carers are lovely, reflecting on what is clearly the Anchor ethos. I'm so glad we found Millfield.
My Father attends Millfield every 12 weeks or so for a fortnights respite each time. He has done this for several years since suffering from a debilitating stroke. He wouldn't go anywhere else. On each visit he is welcomed with genuine smiles and happy faces from all the staff. I cannot speak highly enough about the care he receives whilst he is resident at Millfield, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they even join in with his singing!
My mum has been a resident here for 4 months. The care is exemplary - the staff are friendly and caring. There are daily activities for the residents ranging from music to current affairs to gentle exercise. Information is shared in Millfield's monthly magazine and via Facebook. Special events such as Easter, St George's day and (upcoming) VE day are celebrated as are birthdays. I'd certainly recommend Millfield to anyone looking for a care home.
My aunt has been a resident at Millfield for 2.5 years, she is very well cared for. The home has such a nice atmosphere which you feel as soon as you walk in. Visitors are welcomed, the staff are kind and cheerful. The facilities are excellent, the food looks wonderful. There is even an upstairs hair salon, with a visiting hairdresser attending every week. My aunt has recently had a birthday and for the 2nd year running, the home arranged for a professional Elvis impersonator for my aunt and the other residents to enjoy. There is always a lovely cake for birthdays. When Millfield had first learned of my aunt's love for Elvis, they arranged a wonderful canvas picture of a young Elvis for my aunt to have on the wall of her room. It was a very kind and thoughtful gesture, entirely at their own initiative and expense. Millfield is really lovely home, we feel so fortunate that my aunt has a place there. The residents' best interests are at the heart of everything they do.
Mum was a resident at Millfield for 2 1/2 years. I really couldn't have placed her in better care. The staff were so caring and compassionate and acted in mums best interest every time. Mum came to regard the staff as her friends and part of her family. Thank you so much to everyone at Millfield for making her last years so enjoyable.

Nothing was too much trouble, we could all join Mum for cake and coffee and she had a wonderful day.
