View Full Details of Barchester Newton House Care HomeMum was poorly and had to go into hospital, she had such a lovely welcome when she came out. I love coming to see Mum, she's always happy.
After trying three homes for my brother, Newton House is by far and away the best. All the staff are caring and create a wonderful atmosphere. They all create a family atmosphere, allowing residents compainship, fun and private when needed
On announcing our care needs/support they were met and we were assured. When visiting with any pending questions there has been a senior member of staff who puts our minds at rest and answers question appropriatly. As were self funding once the funding come to an end the home staff contact social services so she doesn't have to move out.
Our elderly father arrived at Newton House after losing his lifelong partner very suddenly whilst in a different care home. With nursing needs and subsequently diagnosed with vascular dementia; from my very first visit, everyone I met was always friendly, helpful and welcoming. The care shown to my father was truly amazing, he was difficult and unwell but this never stopped anyone from supporting and nursing him. No matter how my father behaved or treated the staff, they were unfailingly cheerful and cared for him so well, Keeping him shaved and smart right to the last which was great comfort to the family. If a visit was challenging, someone on the staff always noticed and offered support and understanding, All of the staff welcomed any of us day or night, always with a smile, always supportive of us and so caring with my father, it was as close to being at home with your family as you can get. His passing was quiet and peaceful with our wishes as a whole family totally respected
I live in Cambridgeshire And whilst I would love my mum to be closer there is simply no other care home that could meet their standards. Having been a nurse I appreciate the challenges dementia clients can bring. I feel my Mum is loved , cared for and every effort is made to engage her in the plethora of activities on offer. The activities team are on another level, they bring care, love and fun to every resident on a daily basis. My mum was recently granted a wish to play football. It was a very special moment seeing mum not only receive her wish but to enjoy it so Much. What you offer as a home is very precious , highly recommend.
My mum had to go into care after being diagnosed with dual dimentia . Although some days her condition can be challenging Newton staff are always kind and patient with her . She has found her room her safe place and is very comfortable in her surroundings. She loves going to get her hair done in the salon and Katrina is excellent with all her customers .
My Mother became a resident of Newton House Grantham August 2024 from a Leicester Hospital with a limited life expectancy, due to the care, & support by the nursing staff & care team plus encouragement by the fabulous activity team, I'm happy to relay Mum is now enjoying life (September 2025) with new friends, joining in daily activities within the home & outside excursions. Having her nail polished & regularly onsite hair appointments. Family have always been welcomed by staff when visiting, who always make time for visitors. I must also highlight the calm & friendly atmosphere in the Brownlow community.
I found the staff very friendly and Professional from management and admin to nursing and the care team. My Mother was there for respite care for a week and thoroughly enjoyed her time. If I have one observation it is that whilst I was given brochures on first enquiring several months ago I had to chase a couple of times to check details. I feel that admission information could be more comprehensive especially for first timers for example, how to ID mark clothing. This is an observation not a complaint.
Staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and very helpful. There was a wide range of activities daily to suit varying interests and abilities available for residents to attend if they wanted to, staff did try and encourage this. According to my mother the food was exceptional, she enjoyed every meal. Her room was always clean and tidy as were the lounges that I went into and corridors. All in all a very pleasant experience, my mother enjoyed her stay. Thank you to a hard working dedicated staff team.
From the moment I walked in the doors, we were greeted by lovely staff. The home smelt nice and the furnishings are cosy. Mum said the meals were so good with plenty of variety each day. The one thing that stood out for me was the Entertainment. Absolutely outstanding and much fun. The staff are amazing. Newton House has restored my faith in Care Homes. 5*.
I have been very happy with the care that Mum has received since moving into Barchester Newton House Care Home. She says the majority of staff are very patient and kind and she feels safe there. The activity team have been amazing in ensuring that she has felt included as much as possible, even though she is profoundly deaf and stays mostly in her room. They supported her wish to visit a garden centre and have got to know her hobbies and interests and help her communicate using a whiteboard. They have been incredibly supportive and understanding when I was anxious about going away and she told me their visits and hugs made her day, they are so patient and caring with the biggest smiles. I have been to many care homes and this is definitely one of the best. It has a very welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in, can highly recommend it.
My mother, sadly, passed away in November after spending more than three and a half years at Barchester Newton House Care Home, it was a difficult decision to put Mum in a home but we couldn't have found a more loving and compassionate place for her to spend her last years. Dementia is a cruel illness that robs the relatives of the person they once knew but to see your loved one happy and content in their world surrounded by such loving, caring professionals is, without doubt, the best care and attention we could have given Mum. The time we spent with her in the home was precious, she was always treated with the utmost respect and given the dignity every person should receive. We couldn't speak more highly of all the staff. The decision-making is hard but if you truly care for your loved one and are in need of a care home, look no further, there is nowhere better. All the staff actually care. Our grateful thanks for looking after Mum.
Went along to join in the sing-song followed by pin the nose on the snowman (blindfolded, of course). The whole time was enjoyed by everyone there, judging by the smiles. Although I am not a resident myself, I can honestly say, I enjoyed myself too. I find, on every visit, the atmosphere is a happy one and staff are really helpful and kind. My husband says meals are lovely too. A big thank you to everyone.
Our dad spent six weeks in Barchester Newton House Care Home. He was so happy there. The staff were loving and caring right up to the very end. They allowed him to keep his dignity which was so important to both him and us. Not only did they care so well for Dad but they looked after us all too. We could never thank you all enough.
My husband was a resident in Barchester Newton House Care Home from September 2023 to February 2024. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and support that they provided him. They engaged with him and really turned a corner with him. He started interacting with other residents and joined in with the wonderful activities provided. He even started smiling again and regained some of his personality. Something I hadn't seen for a very long time. Thank you to all at Newton House for making the last few months of his life special.
The home provides amazing care for my mum, she is happy and content which is all credit to the staff at the home and the care and support they provide. They are also welcoming when visiting and keep us well-informed. The activity team there are brilliant, providing a full activity calendar with the staff always doing it with such enthusiasm and energy. It is so reassuring to know that Mum is in a home that provides her with the support she needs whilst also encouraging her to keep as much independence as possible and still get the most out of every day.
My husband has been a resident at Barchester Newton House Care Home for five months now and during that time, he has received the best care. The staff are the backbone of Newton House and are very caring and compassionate. The activities team give their all to ensure all the residents are made to feel special.
All good.
The staff at Barchester Newton House Care Home are all wonderful, from the manager down to the cleaning staff. Mum received excellent care during her stay there, the staff were friendly and made her feel at ease and she loved the bird table provided by the activity team. And then when my mum suddenly passed away recently, they couldn't have been more caring and supportive, I am so grateful.
