View Full Details of Abbotsleigh Care CentreMy husband has been in Abbotsleigh for 7 and a half years, and I have not had to make any complaints in that time.
After a spell in hospital, my sister's dementia necessitated going into care, which was quite a shock as, at that point, I wanted her to come home. She was taken to Abbotsleigh Care Centre. Over time, she settled in and her usual happy personality returned. I can't speak highly enough of all the staff involved in her care and how the home is run. She seems very happy, she is well cared for and is safe. Her day to day life is much fuller than it would have been had she returned home. The outside space is lovely, and they can feed the chickens. There is plenty of room for people to sit, and we recently had a BBQ and strawberries and cream.
My husband has been at Abbotsleigh now for 18 months and settled in very quickly with the care of the staff who were very attentive to his needs. They always address him by name and try to engage him when they can which is not east as he is very tired and sleepy. His weight has stabilised since being there although he is very thin, but the staff try to move him regularly to avoid bedsores. He is in his chair in the coffee room every 2-3 days which he enjoys with singers coming in, organised by the entertainment team.
The staff are really lovely. They smile and have so much patience. The activities are so creative. I am amazed at how inventive the entertainment are. The staff have such good ideas. The grounds are beautiful. It's lovely to have tea and coffee facilities for guests in reception, it means you can relax with a coffee and sit in the comfortable armchair whilst visiting your relative in their room. We were so delighted to find a vacancy at Abbotsleigh at the time we needed it. Dad calls it "his home" now.
Thankyou to all of the staff, manager and chef! The celebration you put on for my dad's Diamond wedding anniversary was simply stunning. The little touches such as getting and helping him to sign a card to my mum was above and beyond. A simple thank you doesn't seem enough for everything you do but I hope this is a wee reminder of how thankful I am to you for continuing loving care of my dad and all of the residents in Abbotsleigh.
My father has been living at Abbotsleigh for 18 months and is very contented there. As a family we have been so happy with the care he has received and the friendly, caring staff who always do more than expected. As an example, the staff realised recently it was my parents' wedding anniversary and helped dad, who has long term dementia, to sign an anniversary card for my mum which was such a lovely touch. There are always activities planned and dad also seems to enjoy the food immensely! We are so relieved that we found dad such a cheerful and caring place to live.
My Aunt has been resident since mid-March 2025, having had a 6 month stay at Staplehurst Manor after a 2 week stay at Pembury Hospital after breaking her hip in a fall at home at the end of August 2024. I am very happy with almost every aspect of my aunt's care - the single aspect, which has nothing to do with Abbotsleigh, is the haphazard provision of weekly GP visits after a change in management/ownership at the Staplehurst Health Centre. Communications (whether phone or email) with the Health Centre are similarly frustrating. Abbotsleigh's staff are extremely pro-active, very caring and friendly, and very good at communicating with me as my Aunt's NOK about all aspects of her physical health and mental state.
We, as a family, are so very happy with every aspect of our mother's care. The staff are caring, friendly, and always cheerful. They always inform us if there are any changes in Mum's health and mental state. Abbotsleigh Care Centre is always clean, and the food is delicious. We feel blessed to have found mum such a wonderful place to end her days.
Mum has been at Abbotsleigh Care Centre for eleven months after a one-month stay at Maidstone Hospital. Abbotsleigh is set in a lovely quiet area in the countryside, you often see rabbits running around in the garden. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, despite my mum being non-verbal, they all still sit and chat with her and let her join in all the many activities they have going on daily. Not only do the staff look after mum they go out of their way to talk to me too, they treat me and any other visitors with the same love and care they do my mum.
My mother-in-law left the hospital to live at Abbotsleigh Care Home in 2023. Initially, she took a while to settle in, but the kindness and willingness of the staff to help her in that process was a great help. They took the time to get to know her and all her wonderful years of life; her culture and her history. Now, two years on, she speaks highly of the respectful care she receives. She enjoys the garden and bird life around her, and the innovative arts, crafts and trips offered.
My mother has been a resident at Abbotsleigh for 7 months. She was very unsettled when she arrived due to her dementia diagnosis but as a result of the treatment she has received she is now thriving and enjoying her new home. The staff are very patient with Mum and I am extremely happy with the care and support she is being given by all team members. Overall I am very impressed with the home and would be happy to recommend it to anyone. Thank you to all staff and management for Mum's continuing care.
People say that there is no place likes home. Well, I say there is no place like this home. Abbotsleigh Care Centre is what I dreamed of when looking for a safety, comfortable ad caring place for my mum to end her days. I simply cannot thank the staff enough for the care she received during her 18-month stay. Every member of staff, whatever their role, gave their absolute all every single day - activities were stimulating and often tailored to the individual. My family was always treated kindly and comfort and reassurance were always present. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the dedication and professionalism of the staff.
My mum was only at Abbotsleigh for a short time, but she was so well cared for. She died with dignity. The staff were so lovely to me and my family as well as my mum. My mum was washed and had clean clothes every day, the room was clean and always smelt nice.
My nan lived here for four years and had been moved around from multiple care homes before. The care she had was brilliant, with many activities to keep her entertained, and the staff were all very helpful and kind. I’m glad my nan finally got the care she deserved in the last stages of her life.
Our mother was at Abbotsleigh Care Centre for several months. During this time, we found the standard of care to be exceptional. The nurses were so caring, always ensuring she was comfortable and pain-free. Regularly checking on her, ensuring a high level of hygiene. The care home is spotless and we thoroughly recommend the attentive staff.
Dad was at Abbotsleigh Care Centre for just over two years whilst suffering from both Parkinson's disease and dementia. He was always treated with such respect and care throughout his time with them, always positive, always encouraging and really welcoming us (as relatives) to their extended family. We cannot thank them highly enough for the end-of-life care they gave to Dad and the support they gave to us was exceptional during this sad time. We would highly recommend this care home.
Caring and friendly staff, from the manager to the maintenance guys, who all go above and beyond to help residents settle. Always made to feel welcome when visiting. A lovely setting with well-kept gardens and grounds. Excellent communication and updates.
Very happy with the care my nan is receiving. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.
Really good, the staff are helpful, they are amazing.
Since my relative came to Abbotsleigh Care Centre almost six years ago, she has been consistently treated with care, good humour and dignity, She could be difficult to manage, even aggressive occasionally but the staff were patient. Staff worked hard to engage her and while she had capacity, she responded well to their efforts, she enjoyed their company and remained communicative and sociable for much longer than we imagined, thanks to them.
