View Full Details of Dewar CloseMyself and my wife felt very welcome every time we visited. Also the facial recognition on the entry door made it much easier for us to visit at whatever time of the day we wanted. The reception area was also welcoming with it's great cafe vibe, where we got to meet other residents and their families. We both felt that he was very well looked after and he was at ease with all the staff and the care he was being given.
Both of my parents became residents at Dewar Close a year ago. The staff are all very kind, friendly and supportive and the care that they have received has been excellent. Whenever I have visited, everywhere is always warm, tidy and spotlessly clean. They had separate rooms across the corridor from one another so it was easy for Mum to look in on Dad as he became more frail. Sadly my father died two months ago but the care that he received in his final few months, despite being in bed for most of the time, was exemplary. We were all very grateful that he was able to remain at Dewar Close until the end and the staff showed considerable kindness and support not only to my Mum but the family as a whole during this difficult time. Mum continues to live here and is very happy with everything. She frequently tells me that 'everyone is very kind, they look after me very well and the food is very good'. She particularly enjoys the music on a Monday and the church service on Wednesday.
My mum was adamant that she did not want to go in to a care home but thankfully we persuaded her to have a look around Dewar Close. From the minute we entered the building the staff welcomed her and were so friendly that she agreed to go in the home. Two weeks on she has settled in nicely at her own pace. The staff are wonderful, friendly and caring. The home is clean and tidy and she is enjoying the food. The family now have peace of mind that my mum is now safe and very well cared for. The staff are a lovely team and a credit to the care home
Thanks you for the excellent care shown to my father in the final few weeks of his life. Although his stay with yourselves was fairly short the level of care and attention shown to him was both comforting and heartwarming.
I feel very happy that my mum is in a safe and comfortable environment. She is very content and has made friends. The lounge/kitchen area is lovely, like a domestic set up. I like that the staff are consistent, it is always the same friendly faces. A beautiful, immaculate home.
A friend of mine has her mum in Dewar and she told me that she was worried at the start as didn't know how her mum would be in the home she can be a very stubborn lady, but things have worked out just grand as she tells me it is very nice to hear that her mum is doing good.
My mum is very happy with Dewar so far, as are we. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Mum loves the food and her room. She has made a good friend and they get along well together. She enjoyed her trip to the people's pub and partaken in the church service.
I am very pleased with the way he has been welcomed. They are very good at helping him to settle in. I know he can be difficult when he feels unsettled, but they have been very patient with him. They are good at encouraging him to make progress.
Wow... What a place - we had heard some bad things about this care home and all I can say is what an absolutely amazing place and staff here at Dewar Close. We moved my mother-in-law down from Staffordshire to be closer to us, so we could see her more often. All staff greet us with a happy friendly face! They couldn’t do enough to help us when we dropped my mother-in-law off for the very first time. They were so lovely with her showing her around and they all introduced themselves to her which made her feel relaxed, safe and happy which made us feel we had chosen the perfect home for her. The home itself has a homely touch throughout its hallways and all sitting rooms. It is spotlessly clean and tidy and her bedroom is decorated lovely too! We are so happy for my mother-in-law to be living here and can’t wait to see her flourish with the great interaction.
Care is second to none. Mum always looks lovely and clean. Mum has dementia so can sometimes have difficult days, but there is always someone to reassure her and give her comfort and a hug and for me that is very reassuring to know that if I’m not there someone is taking care of her. All the staff are approachable and very kind. I was very unsure about putting my mum in a home, but because of her condition I had to make a choice and I’m so glad that I chose Dewar Close.
Mum went into Dewar Close for 2 weeks of respite at the beginning of February due to a decline in her memory. Mum and myself were very apprehensive as it was the first time Mum had needed respite and we did not know what to expect. The home manager met us at the door and introduced herself to us and chatted to Mum in such a friendly manner that we felt instantly welcome and at ease, we were then taken up to Mum's floor and shown to her bedroom. Each of the carers on Mum's floor came and introduced themselves to us and chatted and reassured Mum as they helped us unpack. To watch Mum relax and settle over the next few days with all the reassurance and care shown to Mum was amazing and it was (and still is) wonderful to see her become more confident and outgoing and make new friends. Mum is now a permanent resident and loving her life at Dewar Close and joins in all the activities with the carers and lifestyle coach whom she is particularly fond of. Huge thanks to you all at Dewar Close.
The care given to my mother-in-law is above excellent. The staff care for her every need and are very patient and understanding when she is confused. We as a family are kept informed of her day-to-day activities. We are extremely happy that she is in the right care for her needs. I have recommended Dewar to a neighbour and her mum is now a permanent resident at Dewar Close.
Our mum who has Alzheimer’s moved in about a month ago, leaving our home after 4 years of family care. She has settled well and seems very happy when we visit her. The management and care team have been great and the communication both via the portal and directly over the phone exceptional. Dewar Close, have been great in supporting us in the transition, in what has been a complicated move to a new environment. Thank you.
I chose Dewar Close as a care provider for my grandmother. She has been there for now 5 years. The experience for both myself as a visitor and the experience for my grandmother has been overall outstanding. Rapport has been built with the staff, management team and other service users. It feels like one big family and a second home. A big thank you to Dewar Close for the amazing care and friendship. My family and I appreciate you for the compassion and love that you give.
Mum has been at Dewar Close for nearly 4 months and is settling in well with the help of some great carers and staff. Thank you. There is plenty of encouragement to join in activities, which helps Mum feel involved and valued. Dewar Close is happy for the family to visit and be involved in their care as much as possible which is really appreciated and has helped the transition for all of us. Mum has enjoyed the garden during the warmer months, the garden is a lovely place to visit, well looked after and there have been some great events held in the garden for family and residents to be involved in. A very big thank you to you all.
Dad has been at Dewar for ten months now. We have all been very impressed at the care Dad receives, the staff are very attentive and make Dad feel valued and safe. Dewar is extremely good at involving and supporting the entire family which is very special. They have even given us staff time to support us in taking Dad out to see our mum who lives elsewhere and this meant the world to all of us. Thank you for enabling us to know that Dad is in very good hands.
Mum was placed in Dewar Close for respite care. Management and staff made this straightforward forward and Mum was made to feel welcome which reassured us. Mum enjoyed the week and the staff made her feel comfortable, safe and secure. We thought the grounds were lovely and well-kept. Our daughter visited Mum whilst she was there and she was made to feel welcome. We would be happy to use Dewar Close again. Thank you to all the staff.
I was delighted with the care my brother receives. He was looked after extremely well, carers are wonderful. Food is good and always someone popping in to see he is alright. Really impressed with this dementia unit. I phone regularly and they pass on I have phoned. Thank you all.
My stepfather has been at Dewar for over three years and their care for him is excellent, the staff are fantastic and friendly, it is well led and the activity guys are outstanding! Thank you for everything, here he is well looked after safe and happy!
Mum in Law was moved here from hospital, the staff are fabulous, kind and caring and I have yet to meet an unhelpful member of staff. The transition from home to hospital to care home is a difficult task at any time, but from the first visit to look around to mum in law being admitted has been a better than expected journey, thanks to the professionalism and dedication of the staff. The family have been supported as well as mum in law. Food and range of activities on offer is brilliant. The home is very clean, tidy and welcoming. What more could you want! Thank you to all the staff.
