View Full Details of Ackroyd ClinicMy mother-in-law was discharged from hospital directly to Ackroyd Clinic for palliative care at the beginning of July. The family have been amazed by the level of care she's been receiving by all the staff. My mother-in-law cannot get out of bed, so is totally dependent. All her needs have been cared for from all the professional, friendly staff.
During my auntie's stay at Ackroyd, the staff were caring, respectful, fun and friendly and made her feel at home. She felt safe. Her clothes were washed and ironed, her room was kept very clean, as was the rest of the home. Loved having her hair done. The food was excellent and had good choices. She really enjoyed the concerts, pantomimes, games, sing-alongs and afternoon teas, which made her feel part of a family and made good friends. Thank you to all of you at Ackroyd.
Mum had been self funding for a year until we lost trust for her & had to move her. She has dementia and wheelchair bound but she had a nasty Black eye, 2 more utis and a chest infection in the past few months. She had lost over 8kg of weight and basically was ignored and treated with no dignity. Marevto sit in a heavy harness while in her wheelchair and electric material chair. I asked repeatedly to loosen the tight straps and when she left on Tuesday she had wounds on the top of both legs. Mum has a needless hospital visit to A&E and nothing wrong with her and they checked everything even after a CT scan. We then found the huge mistakes and photographs of her very sore bottom and mistakes with her medical history & we were not informed of any of this. Therefore as soon as we were aware and retained the report we made quick steps to move mum asap. We got excuses and I went to see mum and she was laid in bed with only a tight sanitary pad on her and nothing to protect her dignity. Bad!
The home has a wonderful atmosphere, the staff are very kind and friendly and will help in any way they can. The care is excellent. Also, the entertainment is very good. My husband enjoys doing little quizzes to help him use his mind and the food is delicious. And plenty of it.
I don't know where to start other than a huge thank you to every member of staff. My Mum was a resident for the last year of her life. I'm in awe of anyone that works in this profession, but the staff here were all so compassionate, kind, caring and patient, Mum was always clean, well fed and always had a supply of different food and drinks especially cake or icecream! Her room was always emaculate and her clothes were washed and ironed daily, But also everybody was so welcoming of us too at every visit we was welcomed with a smile an update and a laugh. Mum never joined in the activities as she was bedbound and didn't want to (her choice) which was a shame because everyone looked so happy at the events and games and parties. There's always something to celebrate at Acroyd and so much effort goes into it. Even at the end the support and care both Mum and we received was second to non, As a family we thank each and everyone of you
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ackroyd Clinic for the exceptional care they provided to my mum. From the moment she arrived, it was evident that she was in compassionate and capable hands. The staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure her comfort, treating her with the utmost dignity and respect. Throughout her stay, the team demonstrated remarkable kindness and professionalism. They were attentive to her needs, always ready with a warm smile and a reassuring word. Their dedication to providing high-quality care was evident in every interaction. In her final days, the staff's support was invaluable. They managed her care with sensitivity and grace, allowing her to pass peacefully and with dignity. We are deeply grateful for the compassion and respect shown to her during this difficult time. Thank you, Ackroyd Clinic, for making her final days as comfortable and serene as possible. Your care and kindness will always be remembered.
My dad was admitted to Ackroyd for palliative care. He lived his last 5 weeks in comfort and being well looked after by the staff. Thank you to the team at Ackroyd for taking great care of him. No ratings for activities or value for money as they weren't appropriate.
My mum was an end-of-life patient at Ackroyd Clinic. My mum was a bit frightened at first going into a nursing home, after all the bad things people say about them. My mum gave it a try and her fear turned into fun and laughter. The staff here made my mum's final 4 months happy. My mum formed good friendships with the staff, the staff loved her. The care my mum received from this nursing home was brilliant. I can't thank them enough.
All staff and management have been exceptional at Akroyd Clinic. They have been so caring and kind to Mum as she had been there about 2 years, she became one of the family. Her needs were cared for in a dignified way, she was clean, settled and safe. Mum loved the food which was provided which was a very high standard, she was always clean, dressed, hair done and always looked so comfortable when we visited. Nothing was too much for all the staff, they took the time to talk to you about Mum and it was lovely to see them as it was to see Mum. When mum passed away everyone was so respectful and so kind. A big thank you to all staff and management who kept us informed along the way with Mum's care and were so kind. Thanks all.
Our Mum has been a resident at Ackroyd House since 2016 where she was looked after for her deteriorating Dementia condition. For the last two years, Mum has been classed as end-of-life and has had no cognitive ability. She didn't know her family or friends and was in a comatose state most of the time. Sadly she passed away aged 91 on 7 October 2024. We have nothing but praise and thanks for all the staff and agency workers who helped in so many ways to look after her and ensure she was comfortable. Without their dedication and care, I'm sure she would not have continued living for so long. Our sincere thanks to you all from all the family.
My late wife was a resident at Ackroyd Clinic for approx 3 months. She was placed there by the hospital when they discharged her from the stroke unit. When the time came to decide whether she remained there or to come home with carers, I made the heartbreaking decision to leave her in the home. It was the right one, I could not have cared for her to their standards. They were outstanding to the end of her life. I will always appreciate how they looked after her. Thank you.
I am more than happy to review Ackroyd Clinic. Regarding patient-centred care I would rate excellent. The staff do regular reviews with family around Mum's overall care and go beyond to facilitate all her needs. Mum is no longer able to make choices so have developed a plan around what Mum would have wanted to wear, eat and spiritually believed. The staff are all so kind to Mum and her family, nothing is too much for them to do. All managers have been accessible and very attentive.
The staff looked after my mother very well whilst she spent her time here. She had a lovely room with a garden view and they even put a birdhouse on her window as they knew she loved nature and animals. The food was lovely and she would always give the nurses (certain ones in particular) a smile.
My dad is in Ackroyd Clinic, the staff, agency workers and management go above and beyond to cater for my dad's needs it's like 1 big family. They all go that extra mile, there are so many good leaders working here from management all down to the cleaners etc.
I can't fault Ackroyd Clinic in any way whatsoever, staff were always very professional and caring and couldn't help enough which made my mum's stay very comfortable as she was there on end-of-life care. Staff really couldn't have done enough. Apart from caring for her, they took time to have a chat and joke with her as this is what mum loved they tried everything possible to get her to eat and drink when she struggled to do this I really wouldn't have wanted my mum anywhere else for her final days she was always cared for in a proper manner.
My father-in-law came out of hospital into the care of Ackroyd House. He was very poorly in his last home and in hospital. In the past two weeks at Ackroyd House, with the amazing care he is receiving, he is a changed man. Their duty of care is outstanding! They make sure he's comfortable, fed, has plenty of fluids and look after him superbly. All the staff are friendly, kind and compassionate. My father-in-law is extremely happy and after having bad experiences in other homes, I didn't think we would find a home this good. We are all so happy with everything. The home is bright and clean and his room is large and comfortable. The choice of foods at meal times and snacks are plentiful and well cooked. We have met the owner, manager and lots of staff who are all informative and friendly.
Mum has been a resident at the home for three years and is now on an end-of-life care plan. The management of the home has been very supportive of what can often be an emotional and stressful journey. The staff are excellent - they are always pleasant and helpful, and the care given to Mum has been second to none. The rooms and communal areas are well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The in-house catering and laundry services are also excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending Ackroyd Clinic, and I am very grateful to everyone there.
Wow what can I say, absolutely amazing care given to my step-dad. All of u have been fantastic, you really are in the job for care. We want to thank you all, absolutely outstanding, looked after us all as a family, as well as our dad.
My dad spent the last few weeks of his life here with end-of-life care. Every single member of staff treated him and us with dignity and care at all times. There really was no limit to what they could do to make a frankly horrible situation at least a little bit better. In the end, when he passed they again showed true care and really helped my dad and all our family.
Although my mother was only in Ackroyd Clinic for two weeks receiving end-of-life care, the staff and the care she received were very good and she was treated with dignity up to the end of her life. The staff were also very helpful to us after her passing, answering all questions we had and contacting the funeral directors.
