I feel that Mum is always listened to by the staff at Kingston House. Mum is not the most sociable of people and enjoys the quiet of her room. However, she is always encouraged to join in with the wide range of activities. Recently Mum was asked by the entertainments staff if she would like a trip
out on the minibus, to which she replied only if her family could come to. This was relayed to me and I was made more than welcome accompanying staff and residents on a trip to a garden centre.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kingston House.

My mum has, within 2 weeks of being here settled in really well. The staff have been so attentive and kind and kept her busy.
They have thought about who she may get on with and sat her near them at meal times. They have made sure she has been kept busy doing quizzes, knit and natter, has been out
in the mini bus for a coffee and much more.
We can visit any time and have very quickly been made to feel part of the family.
We had a very useful meeting with the manager and visiting doctor after a week or 2, that helped iron out small details to help my mum settle better and put our mind at rest how she is when we are not there.
She has got her smile back and we can relax as she is in safe, caring hands.

Over all Kingston House is a very welcoming friendly atmosphere, with lots of smiles. Lovely to see such a range of activities going on within the home. You can see all the departments with in the home doing what's best for the all the residents. There are at times concerns, which do get dealt with.
Communication between home and family there is room for improvement.

Good, communication was not very good but is improving. Because husband cannot work often left on his own in dining room. Think sometimes he should be first dealt with, as because of his dementia (Lewy body) he imagines all sorts of things like being attacked. Also lastly is talking about standing
up because he has waited long time this is dangerous as he would fall, behind the dementia he is intelligent man and will ultimately try to do it one day.

On discharge from hospital after a major operation, I had ten days convalescence respite at Kingston House. Without exception all the staff were kind, caring and respectful, not only to me but to all the residents they dealt with. I felt that nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was
brilliant- good home cooked food every day. There was a choice of food at every meal and even extra snacks and drinks were available. Special food requests were met if at all possible. My room was good and one or two initial omissions were very soon put right. I would thoroughly recommend Kingstone House.

My cousin was extremely well cared for in the time that she was a resident. I live in Australia and only saw her a couple of times, but when I phoned, they always were able to bring her to the phone. Problem in having a response from the manager at the time, but the workers were excellent.

I am very pleased with the care and attention that the staff of Kingston House provide for my father. They are welcoming when I visit and contact me whenever my father has any requirements and to keep me informed of any issues that arise.

I am very pleased with the attention my sister got at Kingston House. The staff were uniformly friendly, considerate and helpful. I was able to visit whenever I wanted and always found my sister well looked after, even in difficult circumstances. On one occasion four members of staff were helping
her change her bedding. They could not know I was approaching the room. I was impressed by the quiet and thoughtful way they were treating my sister - they could not have been more considedrate. When arranging her funeral service I asked for donations to Greensleeves Care, and some of her friends have told me that they have contributed. I passed on a cheque for £50 myself. I had no reservations about Kingston House and really cannot commend the staff there too much.

My wife has Alzheimer's and has been a resident of Kingston House for 12 months. I visit her several times a week as I live close by. The staff keep her clean and well-dressed. Her food and medicines are regularly provided and monitored. The staff are kind and respectful in dealing with her, and the
other residents. Separate staff provide daily activities. Overall I feel they meet my wife's needs and provide the right amount of support.

Kingston House has been a wonderful place for my father since January 2024 when we needed care for him. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming, with total peace of mind that he is being looked after and all his needs met.

My father was a resident of Kingston House for a year, from December 2022 to December 2023. He was always treated with great care, kindness and respect. The staff quickly recognised that humour was a way of encouraging him to engage with them and to participate in the regular activities. He
especially enjoyed visits from animals as he was brought up on a farm. We will always be grateful for the care he received and for the staff who went above and beyond to help him. Thank you.

My mum has been at Kingston House since July 2023 and her physical condition has improved considerably in that time. I’m sure she is very challenging at times but the staff are always very kind and patient with her and always keep me informed of any concerns with her health or behaviour. They are
always on top of her needs and have managed to get her joining in with activities which she has always refused before. She has moved rooms a couple of times which has always been in her best interests. Recently it has become difficult when I try to leave and they have been fantastic at distracting my mum and making sure she has the minimal amount of distress.

Mum was trying out care homes with a view to a permanent placement. As part of this, she went into Kingston. During the two-week respite care, all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. She was made to feel very welcomed and enjoyed all of the activities provided. Her room was lovely. The
food was provided to suit her dietary needs. The only thing she didn't like was the lift, which she felt was very small and dark but, because of the nature of the building, could not be larger.

Mum has been a resident of Kingston House since June 2022. She has always been well looked after and treated with respect.
In January 2023, Mum got very ill and had to go to hospital. On her return to Kingston House, she had more needs as regards her care and the home made sure that they put
everything in place to cover these needs.
Kingston House has a very good activities schedule including trips outside of the home which Mum enjoys very much.

As a volunteer at this home, I see firsthand the dedication of the staff. Although my role is generally to support on trips out, these trips are part of a wide and varied activity programme that the home offers its residents. Many of the activities are targeted at individuals' interests as well as
things that are of general interest.

I have previous knowledge of Kingston House from when, a couple of years ago, as a lay pastoral assistant, I and another LPA took fortnightly Holy Communion to those residents who requested it. I have always found the home to be efficient, well-run and secure and the residents I met all seemed to be
very happy. I now pay a daily visit to a male resident who is a very dear friend and who will be 96 in June. He has been in the home for several months. The home is excellent and my only reservation is that where my friend's room is there is a very noisy kitchen next door and an office opposite the room with a door that is continually banging shut extremely loudly. Surely a door closer would be a better option. I must street that he, I and his family do not want him moved. He likes his room and the outlook.
(With regard to Value for Money below, I am not family and have no idea how much he pays the home).

Our friend came to Kingston House in October and has settled so well because of the input of the excellent staff. Health issues have been addressed and there is an ongoing commitment to improve her eating, which had become a serious cause for concern whilst she still lived in her own home. Her
ability to walk has greatly improved and we think that the confusion from which she suffered has been reduced.
We do not live locally and the staff always phone us about any concerns so that, although we don’t see her every week, we are always fully up-to-date as regards her mental and physical health.
We are full of gratitude to all the kind and thoughtful people who care for our friend.

My mother is a resident at Kingston House. She is looked after very well - it is a great reassurance to me to know that she is safe and in good hands. Everything is good - I'll highlight a couple of particularly good areas.
1. Communication is excellent. Someone calls me whenever there is anything
to report, no matter how trivial it might seem. The staff want to get to know relatives and make me feel welcome when I visit Mum.
2. Access to medical care. The GP visits the home every week and will see any resident who needs help. The staff are able to get support from the GP at all other times. I have met the GP on several occasions - he is excellent.
Mum seems content. She enjoys the food and was particularly pleased to find out that wine is sometimes served with meals.
The fees seem very reasonable, particularly when compared to other homes. Mum is well looked after and I have peace of mind so it's worth every penny.
Thank you Kingston House.

My brother moved into Kingston House in the middle of March 2023. It was a big decision, but from the moment I contacted Kingston House the team were brilliant in helping to smooth the transition and to welcome him into his new home. Since moving in the change in him has been remarkable. He enjoys
the meals and has participated in activities and outings. He is looking forward to being able to sit out in the lovely gardens when the weather allows. The staff have been wonderful in helping him settle into his new home, through their quiet, understanding and professional approach. If I need to discuss anything relating to his care someone is always available to talk to and follow up with action if required. My brother's move to the care home was something that we all felt rather anxious about, particularly given a geographic move. I am pleased to say it has been successful, and in large part that is due to the high level of care given by the team at Kingston House.
