My brother has been in st columbus for nearly 2 months now He absolutely loves his new forever home The manager is lovely and very approachable, when we 1st went to look at home we asked to make an appointment for a look around , the manager invited us in there and then. The home is beautifully decored and a light n airy feel about it ,the lounge n dining area is so welcoming and the bedrooms.s are tastefully decorated The staff are absolutely lovely and my brother has built up a rapport with them The food is plentiful and looks delicious and my brother enjoys it all haha There are lots of activities and trips out and a lovely corridor downstairs with cinema room shop, bar and beautiful gardens Im so releived and happy that my brother is settled and happy in his new forever home Well done staff , so glad we chose here xx
My dad is in this home, so well looked after & the staff are absolutely lovely, he is always clean & looks well cared for, he enjoys living there and also loves the staff. I would definitely recommend it.
My sister in law went into St Columbus Care for 2 weeks respite care and loved it so much she wanted to stay ... Luckily for her there was a place available. She is delighted with the care and attention she gets, and loves the company and entertainment laid on
Was at a relatives meeting chaired by the Care Home Manager and she fully informed us of what has been happening recently and what the . future plans they have. The recent upgrades have made the Care Home Improvements to a very high and comfortable standard. I find the staff very approachable and helpful and they take great care of the Residents. All food is home cooked on the premises giving a variety of choice each day. My brother in law has settled in well and I am very pleased with the care he receives. Many thanks keep up the great work.
My aunt had a lot of difficulties in accepting she needed help. She was so understand afraid and angry about losing her independence. St Columbus have been amazing at helping support both her and the family in trying to deal with how difficult the whole process has been. My aunt has now settled down and is seeming happier. The home is immaculately clean and the staff are all very gentle and accommodating of my concerns. Of particular note are three ladies who have had a good understanding of my aunt and how best to help her.
All staff have been helpful and kind to my mum. She is well cared for. The staff have a happy disposition and are always receptive to us when we visit. My mum is interacting with the staff and other residents. She enjoys seeing what is going on. The home provides a safe environment with caring staff who enjoy what they do. The home provides entertainment and trips which are more than we could have provided at home. Very happy with her placement here. Thank you all.
Very happy with mum's placement here. Although she has only been here for several weeks, Mum has settled in well and staff are kind and approachable. They are attentive to mum's needs and treat her as an individual. I am delighted that there is a garden and different activities for the residents.
Mum has been a resident in St Columbas since January this year. She went into care as an emergency admission. The level of care she has received has been very good and she is now more ambulant than she was on admission. She settled very well and is very content with her accommodation and the staff. She calls her room her "wee flat" and is full of praise for the staff. There are activities that she can attend but given her age of 96 sometimes she prefers to be in her room. That doesn't stop the staff popping in for a chat with her or a wee sing song. Every month there is entertainment which mum does go to as she loves to sing. She has a better social life than I do for which I am very grateful. She is happy and so are we as a family as the staff treat her like family. All the staff work as a team and are constant faces for mum. Nothing is too much bother. I knew things were going to go well when the day after mums admission I was greeted by name by all the staff. So welcoming. X x
Mum has only been with St Columba's for 5 months. I was apprehensive about Mum moving into care and decisions were put off for a long period. The transfer to residential care has been a remarkable success both for Mum and the family. Mum has been better the past few months since moving in than for years before and she enjoys it and calls it her home/her little flat. She has settled in really well and is well cared for by the remarkably attentive staff. It has been a great relief to the rest of the family to see her so settled and well cared for. It is a pleasure to visit Mum in her current environment and to see how much she enjoys and appreciates the care provided.
We are pleased with Mum's overall care from day to day she is well looked after her needs are all met, as a wheelchair user she needs support with everything including feeding, dressing and washing she never complains and loves her food. They are kept busy with activities and also exercise if they feel like it, there is also a cinema room and library. Mum is now 94 years old and likes a lie down in the afternoon the staff are used to her habits and are always on hand to assist. If there is a problem the manager is always available, all the staff are friendly and caring, and they all work as a team to make the lives of the residents worthwhile.
My mum has been a resident at St Columba's care home for over 6 years and resides on floor 1. All the staff are very attentive, very friendly towards her and know her little quirks. The family is kept up to date with all information by the staff which is very helpful to us. It is a pity that the residents are having to stay in their rooms at present due to the ongoing work replacing the kitchen and decorating the lounge but this is not the staff's fault and they are coping well with the situation. Overall the staff are doing a very job looking after the residents and seeing to their needs.
My aunt has been in St Columba's for nearly 5 years. The care she receives there has been excellent. When my aunt first went into the home, she was unable to look after herself and had been transferred there from hospital. She only weighed 5 stone, was really confused and we were told she was double incontinent. She is now healthy, happy, has gained 4 stone and is actually not incontinent. The staff are brilliant with my aunt. She is well looked after from every member of the St Columba's team. Putting a family member into a care home is the hardest decision for anyone, but I believe if we hadn't done this for our aunt, she wouldn't be here today.
I am very happy with the care that my mum receives from all staff. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They clearly get to know their residents well and are aware of their likes and dislikes. Social activities/outings are varied and relatives and residents are regularly asked if there’s anything in particular they are interested in.
I am very happy with the care my relative receives. She is clean, warm, well fed and treated with dignity and respect. Her wishes are taken into account where appropriate. Laundry is done daily. There are plenty of activities to keep her engaged, and relatives are welcome to join in activities. All staff are always welcoming, friendly, caring and attentive. She is as settled and happy as she can be, given her condition. Her room is clean, comfortable, warm and recently redecorated, although we are still waiting for work to be done to upgrade her bathroom. There are regular communications from the home, and staff will contact us directly if they have any concerns. The manager is approachable and deals promptly with any matter we have raised. There are quarterly relatives' meetings and any matter raised is addressed.
My mum continues to get excellent care and support from the dedicated staff. Communication regarding Mum's progress is effective. Any concerns regarding Mum's health are dealt with quickly. All staff are very friendly and helpful, from the nurses, administrator and the lady who does the washing - a true team effort. Thank you.
Excellent care as always - looking after my mum since February last year. Keep her happy and lots of activities. The staff have good humour. Well-fed and kept clean. Clean environment. A safe place for all. Would recommend it to all.
Excellent, happy with all care and everyone is very approachable and very helpful. Members of staff will help with any problem regarding my mother. Staff skills are very good. Management is excellent. Everyone is helpful.
Staff friendly and professional. Quick to resolve any problems that arise. The standard of cleanliness is excellent. The meals and snacks provided are first class. The activities and entertainment provided are very good and varied.
Very friendly staff, multiple activities throughout the week and a very warm and friendly environment. Well-managed care, with one-to-one nursing care and additional care staff on every level to ensure all our parent's needs are being met. When visiting, the care staff are always visible and cheery; even the cleaning staff seem happy about their work. When leaving after visiting, there are no lingering worries and peace of mind that they are being well looked after and cared for.
Very good care staff. My father always seems to be clean, and he really likes the food. He doesn't like other residents coming into his room uninvited, but, not sure how this can be prevented. He has had a couple of items go missing, which really upsets him.
