Overall Experience
We had to put our mum in a home, and it wasn't an easy decision!
However we were actually blown away, we were greeted by the Manager, who made sure mum had everything she needed, also on each visit she asks, how we are, how we feel mums settling and if there's anything she can assist with
The building is decorated lovely, and it's spotless! The gardens are beautiful and well maintained!
There's a cinema room, a hair/beauty salon an activities room, library and even a small lil pub and sweetie shop

The staff are lovely and very welcoming May is on the ball and there to help with any queries, also there's one carer in particular called Linda that, has made me feel so at ease looking after mum and that this home was the right choice!

My Auntie was admitted to St Columbas for end of life care. She only had 18 days at St Columbas but our experience was tremendous. The staff were so outstanding both to her and our family. We were always made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. On the day my Auntie passed away Nicky, the nurse on duty explained everything that was happening, we never at any point felt scared or kept in the dark.

My aunt moved into St Columbas care home in March 2026. From the very 1st day she was in there, she loved it,she felt settled and comfortable, staff where always there to lend a hand and make sure her needs where met. The rooms where immaculate and dining hall was also very clean. The other residents looked happy and content. On the day my aunty passed, the nurse(Nikki)'was always on hand to tell us what was happening and to reassure us that my aunt was never in any pain or discomfort.

Mum admitted to St Columbas Care Home 23rd Feb 2026. Overall the care support towards Mum has been great. However Mum does have capacity and more stimulation tasks would have been welcomed. Understand each resident's needs vary. More maybe games, quizzes, bingo my mum would love. Movie nights etc. Staff/nurses lovely.

This care home offers excellent care to my mother. Staff are so nice, very caring and always ready to help. The manager and staff nurse keep me informed either by phone or face to face meetings regarding any adjustments required to ensure my mother receives the very best of care they can provide. Happily I have nothing negative to say, only good thing. I am delighted with the home in general and so happy with all the staff.

Was at a relatives meeting chaired by the Care Home Manager and she fully informed us of what has been happening recently and what the . future plans they have. The recent upgrades have made the Care Home Improvements to a very high and comfortable standard. I find the staff very approachable and helpful and they take great care of the Residents. All food is home cooked on the premises giving a variety of choice each day. My brother in law has settled in well and I am very pleased with the care he receives. Many thanks keep up the great work.

My aunt had a lot of difficulties in accepting she needed help. She was so understand afraid and angry about losing her independence. St Columbus have been amazing at helping support both her and the family in trying to deal with how difficult the whole process has been. My aunt has now settled down and is seeming happier. The home is immaculately clean and the staff are all very gentle and accommodating of my concerns. Of particular note are three ladies who have had a good understanding of my aunt and how best to help her.

Mum has been a resident in St Columbas since January this year. She went into care as an emergency admission. The level of care she has received has been very good and she is now more ambulant than she was on admission. She settled very well and is very content with her accommodation and the staff. She calls her room her "wee flat" and is full of praise for the staff. There are activities that she can attend but given her age of 96 sometimes she prefers to be in her room. That doesn't stop the staff popping in for a chat with her or a wee sing song. Every month there is entertainment which mum does go to as she loves to sing. She has a better social life than I do for which I am very grateful. She is happy and so are we as a family as the staff treat her like family.
All the staff work as a team and are constant faces for mum. Nothing is too much bother.

I knew things were going to go well when the day after mums admission I was greeted by name by all the staff. So welcoming. X x

Mum has only been with St Columba's for 5 months. I was apprehensive about Mum moving into care and decisions were put off for a long period. The transfer to residential care has been a remarkable success both for Mum and the family. Mum has been better the past few months since moving in than for years before and she enjoys it and calls it her home/her little flat. She has settled in really well and is well cared for by the remarkably attentive staff. It has been a great relief to the rest of the family to see her so settled and well cared for. It is a pleasure to visit Mum in her current environment and to see how much she enjoys and appreciates the care provided.
