My grandad was put into the home for a short period. Throughout these last couple of weeks, the staff have been very accommodating, welcoming and reassuring. They answer any questions honestly, making a lovely environment for the family of the guests. My grandad struggled to settle but the staff would not let that stop them from trying. The facilities have a range of activities like day trips, barber and movies.

My Grandad was admitted to St Columba's recently and I was blown away by the level of professionalism and care offered by the staff here. The staff are kind, caring and always available to talk and help, especially through difficult periods.
Maryrose is a fantastic manager and has helped us through the whole process, always taking the time to answer any questions we had and keeping us reassured throughout my Grandad's stay.
Although he has only been at St Columba's for a couple of weeks, it has been incredibly reassuring knowing that he has been somewhere he is safe, comfortable and genuinely cared for. Every member of staff we have spoken to has been friendly and welcoming, and it is clear how much they care about the people they look after.

As my Grandad gets ready to leave, I just want to say a massive thank you to Mary-Rose and the whole team at St Columba's for everything they have done for him and for our family. We couldn't have asked for better care!

Firstly I would love to say MCH is the most amazing place ever. My Mum absolutely loved the place. Her first taste was respite care for two weeks after 14 years of me caring for her fully. She always said she didn't want to go into a care home but after her 2 week break she came home and didn't stop talking about what a wonderful time she had and when she would go back for another holiday. The second time she went she decided she wanted to stay.
Unfortunately Mum was diagnosed with dementia not long after she moved in. The staff were absolutely amazing with her, even on her bad days. She was there just over 2 years before she passed away.
MCH is a lovely home from home care home. The staff are amazing and so knowledgeable in their roles. They get to know the families and always kept us updated. The staff that cared for mum will always have a special place in my heart and I couldn't thank them enough. Karen, Sine, Nic, the care assistants and obviously Duncan the chef.

Thank you xxx

Thank you so much for your kind words Dee. Your Mum was a very special lady and so full of enthusiasm for everything that was going on, in fact her enthusiasm was infectious and rubbed off on everyone. We miss her so much and is often in our conversations. We have passed on your kind words to all the staff. Take care!

My mum, was admitted under emergency respite on 22nd December, due to requiring nursing care after hospital stay and fall. Mum's condition was more severe than we'd thought and on 29th December, we were advised from the Home's GP that mum would be moving to palliative care.

This was a shock for us as a family, however, knowing that we were being taken care of by Nic and her team was such a relief to us. Mum has previously received respite care in Meigle and loved every second of her time there. The team are just second to none and for once I was secure in the knowledge that mum was being cared for like she was a part of their family. When mum became ill, I knew that there was nowhere else we trusted and at the worst time for our family, we were supported to a level that I had not thought possible and for that, we will be forever grateful. Mum had the death that she deserved, as a family we got to spend the time with her, medical support was given and we could focus on mum.

Reply from Sine Stirling, Care Officer at Meigle Country House

Thank you for your kind words. We all loved your mum, she was such a pleasure to have around and was never short of a story. The amount of items she knitted was amazing, and was beneficial to so many others. I'm glad you felt supported by the team here, as we really do aim to not only assist the...

Overall Experience
Mum is a resident in meigle care home and I feel very privileged that she is here. We looked at several before choosing Meigle and it is by far the best.
Being small it comes with a cosy homely feel. All staff are extremely friendly when I visit and very caring towards mum.
She has settled well and even with her dementia recognises how lucky she is to be in such a lovely home.
Her room is kept exceptionally clean and tidy, as is the rest of the home.
The other residents all appear happy and contented.
Mum enjoys the visit from the petting dog each week also the visit from the local primary 7's even if she doesn't remember always what they did.
Getting her hair done each week is lovely too, as she used to visit the hairdressers weekly before.

Its hard to find anything negative. It might be nice to have a board somewhere that said what had been happening, ie what activities done with the kids, as mum never remembers.

Reply from Sine Stirling, Care Officer at Meigle Country House

Thank you for your feedback, it is always reassuring to hear how you feel how things are going. I love the suggestion of the board giving a short overview of what's been happening. We will look at this and see how we can progress with this.

Overall Experience
Mum has been a resident since 2021. Dad was a resident a few years before then. He died very peacefully there. We chose the home because of its warm, friendly and homely environment . Being a smaller home it has a more family atmosphere. My parents got to know the staff quickly and vice versa. Mum feels safe and secure. She can either join in with activities or spend time in her room, she chooses which she prefers. Her room is always clean and tidy with her own bedding, chair, pictures and ornaments which make her room hers.

Good staff make a good home - can't fault anyone, smiling, approachable and friendly so it's been easy to careplan mum's care from the food she is able to eat, her medical care to how she likes her hair. Food is amazing don't think there is anything mum hasn't liked. Communication with staff is excellent we always know what's going on. Would stay there myself if I needed to.

We had to put our mum in a home, and it wasn't an easy decision!
However we were actually blown away, we were greeted by the Manager, who made sure mum had everything she needed, also on each visit she asks, how we are, how we feel mums settling and if there's anything she can assist with
The building is decorated lovely, and it's spotless! The gardens are beautiful and well maintained!
There's a cinema room, a hair/beauty salon an activities room, library and even a small lil pub and sweetie shop

The staff are lovely and very welcoming May is on the ball and there to help with any queries, also there's one carer in particular called Linda that, has made me feel so at ease looking after mum and that this home was the right choice!

Overall Experience
Mum stayed here for six months from November 2025. I was deeply impressed by the care and kindness given to her for the entirety of her time at Meigle. The home is in a beautiful setting and is full of character and comfort. The one thing in particular that stood out for me was the staff who worked there. It is clearly a very united team who are kind, attentive, diligent and extremely approachable.I witnessed first hand how they really went to extreme lengths to accommodate any concerns Mum had and this is to the immense credit to the in-house management team. On behalf of my family I send them very considerable thanks for all that they did, not just for Mum but also us. As far as I am concerned you became trusted friends who gave be an huge amount of support and advice and I will always remember that. I would highly recommend this home.

Mum moved in on the first of this month. It was clear from the beginning that we, as af family, were being supported, not just Mum.
It is clear to me that the strong management team genuinely care for the residents and their families.
At a recent event, it was clear to me that this strong leadership cascades down through the team to the residents.

Thank you, Wendy and team for helping us all help Mum settle into her new forever home.

My Auntie was admitted to St Columbas for end of life care. She only had 18 days at St Columbas but our experience was tremendous. The staff were so outstanding both to her and our family. We were always made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. On the day my Auntie passed away Nicky, the nurse on duty explained everything that was happening, we never at any point felt scared or kept in the dark.

Review of Drumdarroch House Care Home from Lucy G (Sister of Resident) published on 5 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My sister lived at Drumdarroch for just over 16 months, during which time her needs were fully met by the very kind and caring staff. Drumdarroch is a well run home, and the leadership is excellent, and it shows.
It was a relief to me to be able to quickly reach a place where I trusted that my sister was in very safe hands, and surrounded by kind people. I know that great care was taken at mealtimes, for instance, as it did take a long time for her to consume enough nutrition, often delicious homemade soup which was a favourite of hers. The entertainments team included her as much as they could, and she enjoyed musical afternoons etc. Her laundry was always carefully done, and delivered cheerfully back to her room and neatly put away.
As I live at a distance, it was nice to be so warmly greeted when I visited, and I felt looked after too!

I knew that I could phone whenever I needed to, for peace of mind. Thank you all for taking such good care of her.
