My mum, was admitted under emergency respite on 22nd December, due to requiring nursing care after hospital stay and fall. Mum's condition was more severe than we'd thought and on 29th December, we were advised from the Home's GP that mum would be moving to palliative care.

This was a shock for us as a family, however, knowing that we were being taken care of by Nic and her team was such a relief to us. Mum has previously received respite care in Meigle and loved every second of her time there. The team are just second to none and for once I was secure in the knowledge that mum was being cared for like she was a part of their family. When mum became ill, I knew that there was nowhere else we trusted and at the worst time for our family, we were supported to a level that I had not thought possible and for that, we will be forever grateful. Mum had the death that she deserved, as a family we got to spend the time with her, medical support was given and we could focus on mum.

Reply from Sine Stirling, Care Officer at Meigle Country House

Thank you for your kind words. We all loved your mum, she was such a pleasure to have around and was never short of a story. The amount of items she knitted was amazing, and was beneficial to so many others. I'm glad you felt supported by the team here, as we really do aim to not only assist the...

Mum is a resident in meigle care home and I feel very privileged that she is here. We looked at several before choosing Meigle and it is by far the best.
Being small it comes with a cosy homely feel. All staff are extremely friendly when I visit and very caring towards mum.
She has settled well and even with her dementia recognises how lucky she is to be in such a lovely home.
Her room is kept exceptionally clean and tidy, as is the rest of the home.
The other residents all appear happy and contented.
Mum enjoys the visit from the petting dog each week also the visit from the local primary 7's even if she doesn't remember always what they did.
Getting her hair done each week is lovely too, as she used to visit the hairdressers weekly before.

Its hard to find anything negative. It might be nice to have a board somewhere that said what had been happening, ie what activities done with the kids, as mum never remembers.

Reply from Sine Stirling, Care Officer at Meigle Country House

Thank you for your feedback, it is always reassuring to hear how you feel how things are going. I love the suggestion of the board giving a short overview of what's been happening. We will look at this and see how we can progress with this.

Mum has been a resident since 2021. Dad was a resident a few years before then. He died very peacefully there. We chose the home because of its warm, friendly and homely environment . Being a smaller home it has a more family atmosphere. My parents got to know the staff quickly and vice versa. Mum feels safe and secure. She can either join in with activities or spend time in her room, she chooses which she prefers. Her room is always clean and tidy with her own bedding, chair, pictures and ornaments which make her room hers.

Good staff make a good home - can't fault anyone, smiling, approachable and friendly so it's been easy to careplan mum's care from the food she is able to eat, her medical care to how she likes her hair. Food is amazing don't think there is anything mum hasn't liked. Communication with staff is excellent we always know what's going on. Would stay there myself if I needed to.

Mum stayed here for six months from November 2025. I was deeply impressed by the care and kindness given to her for the entirety of her time at Meigle. The home is in a beautiful setting and is full of character and comfort. The one thing in particular that stood out for me was the staff who worked there. It is clearly a very united team who are kind, attentive, diligent and extremely approachable.I witnessed first hand how they really went to extreme lengths to accommodate any concerns Mum had and this is to the immense credit to the in-house management team. On behalf of my family I send them very considerable thanks for all that they did, not just for Mum but also us. As far as I am concerned you became trusted friends who gave be an huge amount of support and advice and I will always remember that. I would highly recommend this home.

John

My father is a resident and I can’t say anything but positive remarks. The manager is so nice and very caring and is very easy to talk to. I have never been in a care home like this, as it’s just like a big house full of care and residents come first. The food is first class and the time spent with my dad is always caring. The staff are all friendly and approachable, nothing is ever a problem. It was very hard looking for a loving place for my dad, as a family we want the best care for him and the first time I walked into the care home it felt so calm and caring. Also, the member of staff who is managing the care home as well is really nice and has a caring nature. Meigle Country House is a very special place and we as a family are so happy and feel so lucky that our dad got accepted as a resident.

This care provider is excellent in every aspect. The care is very considerate, helpful and really displays tender care. My mother is full of praise for her 'Angel Girls', as she calls them (Mum is 106) 'The soup is so good'.
All in all this home could not be better.

Note - Mum does not suffer from dementia or other related problems.

Staff, manager and deputy are always helpful when I raise a query and have gone to great lengths to get things right. We always feel welcome when we visit. Most importantly, mum is looking and sounding very well and in my view this is attributable to the quality of care she receives here.

I had visited several care homes when my mum was needing residential care.
The atmosphere and the layout at Meigle were very homely. There was laughter and smiling faces. The focal point of the residents' lounge and dining room was beside the offices which meant that staff were always close at hand.
Staff are very helpful, kind, professional to residents and their families.
Residents are treated with care and dignity. Staff get to know their background and their likes and dislikes etc.
Nursing care is very thorough.
End of life care is gentle and very respectful.

It is not an easy decision for families and their loved ones to tackle the issue of residential care but it is a huge relief to know they are well cared for and safe.

I find that all the staff take good care of my mother. The staff inform the family if there are any issues that need attention. There are not enough activities to keep the residents brain active.
All residents are well groomed and clothes are always clean.
None of the resident's smell of urine, they are always toileted when required.

Visitors are made welcome and can at any time talk to staff about their resident's welfare and how they have been since their last visit.

The home has a lovely atmosphere. Try and make sitting areas relaxed without chairs in a line or semi-circle. Quiet areas or busier areas are catered for. Staff always friendly, helpful and really build up good relationships with their residents.

Meigle Country House Care Home provides a high standard of care in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. My dealings with the managers and staff have always been productive and I have felt fully supported in my aim to have the best possible outcomes for my mother. I have been freely able to seek their advice and reassurance as to appropriate engagement with my mother as her dementia progresses. I am satisfied that the staff treat my mother extremely well and demonstrate a genuine fondness for her in their interactions. Of particular note is the effort made to provide wonderful home cooked meals, with meal choices that encourage healthy eating.

My extended family visit frequently and feel welcomed whatever time of day they call in. Throughout several months of visiting, none of us has had any cause for concern over the care my mother receives. Indeed, we feel that a place at Meigle Country House Care Home has been the best possible outcome from a challenging and emotionally fraught situation.
