View Full Details of Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care HomeFrom the day Mum arrived at Hugh Myddelton, she has become calmer and more peaceful. All the staff have been so supportive, gentle and kind. She is so happy here and hasn't once asked to go home to her house. The Greek speaking carers have become her friends. A male carer has been going above & beyond & has been learning the language to help. The activities co-ordinator is a miracle worker & got Mum involved in all sorts. Extremely well managed, clean, calm & happy place.
I am very happy with this care home. The staff are cheerful, attentive and caring to my mum which is reassuring when I leave knowing that she is safely being looked after. I would definitely recommend this care home.
Everything very good - really could not fault much at all. All staff and management friendly and helpful.
My experience of the Barchester Hugh Myddelton is very satisfactory. My sister is cared for, washed, changed, hair coloured. I can ask any carer to feed my sister/wash/change and it's done on the spot. Meals on the menu are fabulous, and fed on time. If I mention my sisters name to any carer/nurse they are aware of whome I am talking about instantly. Her room is kept spotless, and her bathroom clean + tidy.
My Mum was at Hugh Myddelton for the last four weeks of her life. The care she received was wonderful - we could not have wished for anywhere better for her, or nicer, kinder, more loving people to care for her. She was treated with kindness, dignity and respect, and the care extended to our whole family. We were welcomed at any time of day or night, and the staff took a genuine interest in us as a family, not just seeing Mum as a patient. We cannot express strongly enough our gratitude to all the staff for making Mum's last few weeks of life as full of love and care as they possibly could have been. Thank you.
My mum moved to Hugh Myddelton House Care Home at the end of February 2025 for palliative/end of life care. As a family we have been very impressed with the professional, and compassionate care she has received and the support and kindness we have all been shown. Thank you.
I am enjoying my stay here. The staff are friendly and caring about me. I am feeling safe and comfortable. I love to join everyday activities and meeting my family here. Everyone is happy and kind here. That's why I choose to stay here permanently.
I have no complaints, thanks to all the staff and managers. The service, food, drink supply to visitors are very generous. The staff, particularly, are so supportive and willing to help my loved one. Fantastic on the whole.
All staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful towards any visitors. So overall, the atmosphere is of a very happy, well-managed home. My husband seems to be relaxed and happy there. The facilities all seem to work well. The garden is a great asset in good weather.
Care for my mother here is excellent, I'm very happy with the care here, the staff are really nice. My mother also has access to a wide range of activities, such as flower arrangements and going on trips.
I am a resident of Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home. I love to live here at Hugh Myddelton. Everyone is very friendly and takes care of me, that's why I prefer to stay here. I like to join live entertainment and different events.
Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home has been wonderful for my mum, we definitely chose the best place for her to be. All the staff are very friendly, happy people who care for my mother's needs without us needing to worry. There is always some kind of entertainment being arranged or sometimes a pub lunch. My mum was very ill, on her deathbed in a hospice before coming to Hugh Myddelton, they have cared for her so well that she is now able to return back to her own home full-time. We really appreciate all their help in the last six months. Thank you!
Excellent care, homely environment, great facilities, wonderful staff, great food and entertainment/activities, visitors made welcome as well as relatives of past residents, individuals needs are catered for, it’s like one big happy family here in Hugh Myddelton, the garden is a real haven with various birds, squirrels, snails and slugs (they pinch the bird feed).
All the staff are so patient and friendly and always on hand for any questions. We always feel confident that our sister is being well cared for and everything is being done to make her as comfortable as possible.
My mum, who had advanced dementia, spent her last month at Hugh Myddelton after leaving the hospital after a fall. The care she received was wonderful. It was a fairly confusing time for all of our family and the discharge from the hospital felt pretty disorganized. However, the staff were amazing in making sure that everything was in place for her arrival and helped to settle her in very well. Everyone was friendly, respectful, and caring - Mum was made comfortable and I could see that she felt relaxed, even though she was not able to talk. After the fall her medical needs were much greater and were completely catered for. I would like to say a special thank you to the unit leader, who took the time to talk with me when Mum first arrived. On the morning that Mum died, everyone was so kind and gave me space to just sit and pray. Thank you.
The nurses are fantastic, they go above and beyond to care for their residents. They celebrate special occasions for the residents, like decorating the dining room for Valentine's Day. Everyone is friendly and approachable. I have witnessed nurses first hand getting antibiotics delivered the same day for their patients even though the pharmacy they use doesn't offer this same-day delivery. They make it happen.
My husband spent 5 months in the hospital and 1 month in the rehabilitation unit. He came here (Hugh Myddelton) in May 2023. At Hugh Myddelton House his needs are being met considering he is paralysed. I would recommend High Myddelton House for anyone who needs care, be it dementia or other illnesses.
My 98-year-old mother-in-law with dementia needs 24-hour care after a series of falls. We are extremely pleased with the care she gets at Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home. Staff have clearly got to know her as a person and centre her care around that, which is amazing. Mother-in-law is always very concerned about appearance and she is still extremely well turned out and even with varnished nails and a new hairstyle every time we see her. Hugh Myddelton House takes her to medical appointments too. I particularly appreciate the presence of nursing staff because caring with dementia is challenging and I think nursing staff bring a lot of expertise. I feel confident knowing Mother-in-law is being much better looked after than I could manage myself.
My father is a current resident at the home and was discharged there from the hospital. Prior to deciding that a nursing home was the right place for him, my husband and I were shown around by two ladies, one of whom took the time to sit and discuss my dad's needs with me. They both provided me with reassurance, kindness and empathy for the big decision that we would be making. My dad had a fairly chaotic discharge from the hospital, however, the general manager and staff were amazing in making sure that everything was in place when he eventually arrived and helped to settle him (and me) when he did. I have nothing but praise and admiration for all of the staff. Everyone is friendly, respectful and obviously cares for the residents - they work hard and include the residents in activities or just chat with them. My dad’s nursing needs are completely catered for and any issues are seamlessly dealt with by the qualified staff there. I’m confident that this is the right place for him.
My dad has been in Barchester Hugh Myddelton House Care Home for the last four and a half years and is very happy. My mum sadly was diagnosed with dementia earlier this year and is also now a resident. The care they receive is excellent and is a comfort to the family that they are being well cared for. Thank you to all the staff and the nurses.
