Due to unforeseen circumstances, I needed to find care for my father, who had sadly become ill, at another care home. Upset and full of anxiety at the thought of my father being held in hospital, I telephoned Westbury Nursing Home to see if they could help. After a call, I was told I could drop in at any time, and I did! I met the Deputy Manager, who immediately made me feel heard, and his calm approach was wonderful at an extremely worrying time. After viewing the room and the home, I felt they had the care and patience to care for my father. The Deputy Manager came to assess Dad at the hospital, and he offered him a place. With advanced dementia, Dad, who didn't converse well, shook hands and smiled, and I knew this was the right choice. Dad moved in the next day. Sadly, Dad passed away within 36 hours, but the care he received and the compassion shown to us will never be forgotten. The staff are so friendly and caring, and grateful that they helped us in our time of need.
My mum went into Westbury Nursing home in May last year for palliative care . Right from the first day, the care mum received was absolutely wonderful .Within a month she was back walking ,talking and even taking part in the activites. All due, to the care and support from all of the staff and her family. Whenever we visited we were always made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.. Sadly mums health deteriorated in March this year and we were told as a family, that mum was at end of life. The support and compassion we received from the staff that looked after mum was above and beyond. We as a family cannot thank all of them enough. The manager of this nursing home should be extremely proud of each and everyone that cared for mum ,domestics, cooks, the activities and carers.. They all deserve much appreciation... They were like family and even came to mums funeral. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you all did for mum and us as a family.
Have been visiting family members for 3 years. The residential home is beautiful. Staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. Home is spotless but has a lovely, homely, family feel. The manager is so helpful, as are all the other staff. Friendly, but very professional. I have no worries at Westbury Gardens, my family member is in excellent hands. Thank you, Westbury Gardens Residential Home.
In January my mum had to move to Westbury Gardens from hospital. The transition was very smooth due to excellent communication with the main office carehome Manager. Mum has settled in well and enjoys being here. I've been visiting mum a lot recently since I don't live locally. When I'm not in Bristol, anytime mum needs anything the onsite managers are quick to email me. When I visit, all the carers and managers are very friendly. Everyone has been so nice. Mum also says everyone treats her very well. Mum is not very active so she doesn't join in with the social activities arranged. She does get asked to join but she prefers to rest and watch TV. As I don't live in Bristol, I am so relieved that mum is in safe good hands and is being looked after well. I'm so grateful to all the staff at Westbury Gardens.
My mother spent a happy 21 months at the Gardens before moving to the Nursing home for the final days of her life. I have previously reviewed the Gardens whose care even when she fell ill remained above and beyond. The nursing home was exceptional in their care of mum and her family. They were professional but also deeply caring. To be told it was an honour to care for mum so sums up their attitude. It made the end of her life as good as it could be. These homes use no agency staff and are willing to do whatever it takes. The homes are both spotless and the residents, even when bedbound, kept spotlessly clean. Thank you to you all.
My mother has been living in Westbury Garden Suite since November. She has a warm, bright garden room which is always clean and tidy. She loves the activities available, especially singing, and trips out are a highlight for her. Food is excellent and served on welcoming small group tables, and the home has a cozy, comfortable family feel to it. The staff excel in their warmth, compassion and professionalism, really caring for the residents and taking time to get to know them well.
My mother was extremely well looked after by Westbury Care Home during the Christmas and New Year Holiday. Westbury Care Home provided good entertainment prior to the festive season and after. This is a loved feature of the Home, and many of the residents look forward to the singing which they are able to join in with. Recently pets were brought to the home, so that the residents could enjoy interacting with different animals. The home was beautifully decorated. Two lovely Christmas trees placed so that all could enjoy them. The staff worked very hard over the holiday period giving my mother an enjoyable, comfortable Christmas, even though she was unable to at times, enjoy the lovely community atmosphere, as she is 99 years old, and finds this difficult.
A truly wonderful home for my mother who has Parkinson's disease and dementia. Staff are so caring, taking their time to get to know all the residents individually and helpful when you have questions. Nursing staff and management have exceptional attention to detail and communication is effective and timely. Everyone is approachable. Whole place is spotless, activities are varied and activity leads go the extra mile. Thank you! I would definitely recommend this lovely home.
My mother is a fairly new resident at Westbury Care Home. I am so grateful for all the care, kindness and respect that has been shown to her. The home is spotless and the meals are nutritious and tasty. Teatime always has its treats. My mother has just celebrated her 99th birthday. There were banners, balloons and a beautiful cake, all done by the staff. Thank you for the treatment and care she has received from all members of staff. A truly outstanding organisation.
My Father moved into Westbury Nursing Home after being told he was palliative from hospital. The manager, nurses, carers, cooks, cleaners and entertainment lady were all so lovely in caring for Dad. They were all compassionate, and sympathetic to Dad's needs and requests with dignity, kindness patience and understanding. As a family, we were treated so well with refreshments, quiet space always a welcome smile from staff and a hug if needed and kept up to date with dad's care. We as a family cannot recommend this place enough for the care of your loved one. The nursing home made my dad's last weeks, comfortable with monitoring dad's pain relief and symptoms. Treated Dad with dignity and respect always speaking to Dad directly and honouring his every request, so kind of you all. They looked after Dad and us as a family, with kindness care and compassion, huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
My father moved to Westbury Gardens from Kent, having had a short spell in hospital after a fall at home. The staff were wonderfully supportive as he settled during what was a very difficult time for him. The garden is a lovely, thoughtfully furnished home. With only 20 residents, it's not too big and the overall atmosphere is homely. It has a beautiful garden which is well looked after and is lovely to sit in. Many of the staff have been there for years and there is a good rapport between them. The food is excellent and there is a good range of activities. The staff are all very helpful and communicative and I'm confident my father is being well looked after. It is a very well organised and managed home and we couldn't be happier with our choice.
We have travelled a long way to visit our mother and were apprehensive as to what kind of nursing home she is in. On arrival, we were so relieved and happy to find such a lovely, cheerful and bright home she is in. We feel content and happy knowing she is in such a caring and good hands. We feel she has settled well, considering how many moves she has made. She enjoys the food and is very pleased with how many times her room is cleaned. We are confident that her time and good care will continue as we've witnessed. Thank you.
My mother has been in the care home for two years. Initially, she was reluctant to go into care but now she acknowledges it was a great move. The home is a lovely environment and the staff are wonderful. The quality of nursing care is first-class. One of the biggest advantages of being in the home is the level of social interaction. The home recently put on a stage show which involved both residents and staff. It gave my other a real joy and was a truly enjoyable event. Social functions and entertainment are regular events here in the home.
A delightfully caring, peaceful and harmonious home that gives individual thought to the needs of all residents of the Gardens at the Westbury. In the time that my mum has been there, she has relaxed and flourished and I can always feel confident that she will be safe and well looked after.
Staff know and understand my aunt well. They adapt their approach as things change. There is currently an activities coordinator, and it is good to have the regular activities that go with that. Staff ring us promptly about my aunt if the need arises. Email could be used more to get information about events and general updates about the home through to residents' families.
My mum has been in this care home for just two weeks. The treatment and care she has received have been outstanding from all members of staff. We as a family have all said what a wonderful nursing home it is. We are always made welcome when we see Mum and we go at any time. I just can't praise everyone enough for their fantastic care. Well done all.
My Nan is currently in Westbury Nursing Home and I don't think she could be treated better! The staff are always so friendly when I go in to visit her and I love that I can still have 1-1 time with her. She is the lady who never wanted to leave her last home but since being diagnosed with Dementia, we had to find something more appropriate to help her long term. Knowing she is safe here is such a weight off of the shoulders. Sadly in hospital, she was never rehabilitated so lost most of the strength in her legs but this care home makes her as comfortable as possible and for that I'm so grateful! She has also gained weight back since being here (she was becoming very frail) and the staff are always coming around with meals and cake! The rooms are quite dated but I think this is appropriate for the elderly. Thank you for looking after my Nan and giving her the care that she needs. Our family were admittedly struggling before we found you and we are all at ease now she is happy and safe!
My brother who was diagnosed with dementia, was a resident for 18 months. I can honestly say he received the very best care, kindness and respect from all the staff that I could ever wish for him. This gave me immense peace of mind knowing he was being so well looked after. All the staff were always supportive, helpful and kind to myself and my husband. Every time we visited we were always supplied with endless tea, cake and biscuits. They came across to us like nothing was too much trouble, always going above and beyond. They also helped celebrate his birthday with banners, balloons and cake of which we all thoroughly enjoyed. In my brother's last days, he received the most amazing end-of-life care that I've ever known, by all the staff. My family and I will forever be eternally grateful. We cannot sing the staff's praises enough, they truly are the most dedicated, committed team. We highly recommend this nursing home to anyone seeking a place for a loved one.
This is a lovely nursing home, the managers, nurses and care staff, are wonderful. They are kind, respectful, gentle and very patient. The level of care is of an excellent standard and the home is spotless and the cleaners make it sparkle. The food is excellent which is very important to my dad. When it was my parent's 75th wedding anniversary they arranged a meal for them to have together and made such an effort to make their day special, with balloons, banners and a cake. They went above and beyond. I am a registered nurse myself and I looked at a lot of nursing homes. I know quality care when I see it and the Westbury nursing home provided everything we were looking for in a care home for my 94-year-old dad.
