My mother has been with Blackwell for over 4 years now, the care she has received, along with the attentiveness of the staff has been amazing. As expected, we were nervous about placing my mum in residential care, but the way Blackwell have looked after her very demanding care needs has really put
our mind at ease. I receive phone calls if there are any concerns or if the team need to talk to me, and they are always on hand if I need to call - no waiting on hold or continual ringing to get through to speak to them. Recently the care home has had a bit of a freshen up, new carpets and a lick of paint. Removal of unnecessary clutter and it has really opened it up to be an inviting, clean space. It was perfectly good previously , but we have certainly noticed an upturn in the recent months. We have no problems with my mum being here, and feel lucky that she has the care she has.

This is a wonderful home my mother has vascular dementia and over the last 17 months she has become more and more reliant on care. She has been in several homes but this is by far the best , it is clean, well staffed and her room is spacious and well equipped. The staff really care about the
patients and especially my mum they keep us well informed as to her condition and go that extra mile we can't praise them enough. They have a full and varied activities callender and try to involve all the residents . It feels like a home and not an institution unlike so many others they are not monetary driven but really do care. My mum has been a resident since November 2024.

We are very happy with the care and support our mother receives. All the staff are very pleasant, helpfull and always have time for you and my mother. If we had a negative to say it would be over lost or missing clothing even when it is clearly marked up not just for mum but other residents (minor
niggle). We would and always recommended the home to anyone looking for their loved ones. Thank you everyone.

My mother was a respite resident for 5 weeks following a fall just before Christmas. From my first telephone conversation to the day she came home, I have found the care excellent at Blackwell. It would be unfair to single out any member of staff, as unfortunately I don't know the names of all the
people I have met. Everyone has been caring, patient and considerate. I came to see Mum on New Years Eve, but only stayed for 15 minutes as she was taking part in the activities and really enjoying it, which demonstrated to me the quality of this care home.
Whilst I was working, I had dealings with numerous care homes in both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, Blackwell in my opinion is certainly 5 star.

Since walking through the door to look around Blackwell Care Home, the warmth, care and compassion has been amazing. The team are so helpful and supportive to both Mum and our family. We are really happy with the systems and processes in place to keep Mum safe. The activities on offer are great and

Blackwell care home feels warm, positive, and full of life, as soon as you walk through the door.
The level of care provided brings real peace of mind. The care is exceptional, the food is lovely, the environment is clean and welcoming, and the whole place feels safe and homely. The activities
and entertainment are wonderful and bring genuine joy and meaning to the residents' days. The open-door approach is incredibly reassuring and makes you feel listened to and supported.
What stands out most is the staff. Every member of staff shows politeness, genuine kindness, compassion, and dedication, going above and beyond every day. The difference they make is immeasurable, and I honestly cannot praise or thank them enough.
My mum is really happy here and I would happily recommend this home

Not had much experience of care homes, but it seems very clean & tidy and not smelling like some others I have visited. Staff seem caring & efficient, sometimes they seem to be busy to take my mam to the toilet straight away. Seem to have a lot of activities going on, involve the visitors as well.
My mam has vascular dementia quite badly, so unfortunately can't ask her for a opinion as most of the time she does not know where she is. But we know that she is safe and that piece of mind for us all.

My Mum has been in Blackwell Care Home for about 4 months. I am happy that she is being adequately cared for in a safe, clean and caring environment. Her personal needs are being met, and she is encouraged to engage in meaningful activities.

Mum has been at Blackwell Care Home for over 3 years now and during that time we have seen both staff and residents come and go. The time Mum has been at the home both herself and us have been fully supported and listened to by management and carers alike.
Mum has been encouraged to be independant
but also helped and assisted when needed. As Mums condition worsens the staff are mindful and respectful of her advancing needs. All the staff really do seem to care, this being shown in their attitudes, communication and support they offer.

My mum is very well cared for. The carers are amazing with her. The carers are always smiling, so caring and polite. They can't do enough for our family. Anything I ask for I get done as quickly as possible. If I have a problem I go to see the nurses or the management, I don't hesitate to speak up.
Myself and my dad are so happy Mum is in safe hands. I just want to thank the carers so much, they work so hard and it's a hard job. They need to be recognised more in the pay scales.

Although my mother has only been a resident for a short period, she has settled in very well and the care she is receiving is excellent. The staff throughout the entire care home, regardless of their individual positions, are extremely welcoming and caring. This has obviously been very appreciated
by my mother, myself and our wider family. We viewed several care homes before visiting Blackwell Care Home and I am pleased to say that after looking around this home and meeting the people, we looked no further.

My sister was moved into Blackwell Care Home early this year and on my first visit I could tell on entering the building that it was nothing like any of the care home I had experienced before. The atmosphere in all areas was fresh, bright and airy. The staff are friendly and eager to help when
required. Particularly impressive are the efforts made by the handicraft personnel who keep residents occupied and entertained throughout each day. I am happy that the management and staff are taking good care of my sister and sure they will continue to do so.

Blackwell Care Home have nursed my mum incredibly well, which is why, despite many health issues, she is still with us at 95. The home is beautifully clean, absolutely no smell at all, staff are all friendly and approachable and as I'm a frequent visitor, have got to know them well. Mum has her hair
done every week at their little salon and is always dressed nicely. Activities are on Monday to Friday, including foot spas and nail polishing. Food is also cooked fresh and there is lots of choice. I could not have picked a better home.

Welcoming staff who are always happy to discuss any issues, even when under pressure and extremely busy.
The team have made us feel like an important part of the care home.
Team and management are open to ideas and feedback.
Oral hygiene for residents is one area where improvements could be made
as it would appear (from my observations) this is not routinely carried out.
A special shout-out should be given to the staff who keep both the home and the clothes of the residents very clean.

After having a relative's meetings at the care home my dad is in, a lot of things were discussed and hopefully will be resolved, including newsletters (regularly), letting us know where and how much is in the pot after events that have happened.

My wife has found the Care Home to be satisfactory in so much as all her needs are catered for. There is a very friendly and pleasant atmosphere which helps to make an unfortunate situation more acceptable. The staff are very approachable which makes it very easy to rectify any problem that may
arise. Overall a very caring nursing home.

My mum was in the care home for six years, and the care was excellent. The staff really cared for my mum, and the love and support in her final weeks were amazing; so grateful to the staff. I would highly recomend this home.

My mum is very well cared for. The carers are amazing with her. The carers are always smiling, so caring and polite. They can't do enough for our family. Anything I ask for I get done as quickly as possible. If I have a problem I go to see the nurses or the management, I don't hesitate to speak up.

My mum was in the care home for six years, and the care was excellent. The staff really cared for my mum, and the love and support in her final weeks were amazing; so grateful to the staff. I would highly recomend this home.
