View Full Details of Halcon CentreWarm and friendly staff team, always helpful & professional. My brother loves coming for his stays at Halcon; he is stimulated and supported throughout the visit. He loves the entertainment & the jolly atmosphere, always being included in the fun and patient staff support him with a smile. Fabulous support for me as well, thank you.
Back again for my respite stay and despite the hot weather I was welcomed in to a pleasant comfortable environment the temperature inside just right. As per usual I had a wonderfully warm Welcome from all which was lovely. During my fortnights stay I was offered water ices or choc ices by the catering staff as well as the usual tea and coffee or cold drinks. Everything was done well to enable us to stay hydrated and cool. Fans everywhere. Trips out were arranged around the weather and arrangements if one asked. I had needed a wheelchair appointment and a carer was arranged for me to attend this and drive the WAV vehicle so I could attend despite the appointment being at 9.30 a.m no mean achievement . I was taken shopping, plus a trip to Vivary Park. Lovely accessible and wide tarmac paths and the most glorious Garden and magnificent trees . Thank you Halcon plus all the staff, you never let me down.
My son has been a regular respite user at The Halcon Centre for the last few years and I can't rate the care he has received highly enough. The attitude of meeting him where he is at and demonstrating interest in who he is as a person as well as caring for his physical needs, from both the management and whole team has been outstanding.
My respite at this car home was meant to be a seven-day break. Haven't hadn't had any respite for five years. This is my first experience with respite initially they couldn't be kind enough almost overly nice, but that was a reason for that I will explain in a minute I'm a vegetarian I don't feel like the cases for my dietary needs properly even though I paid 1700 pounds to stay for seven days turned out to be very stressful. I hadn't had a bath in literally five years. The first bath they gave me was really nice and warm and hot. The second bath they gave me was just warm. Even though they know it's a massive effort for me to get from my wheelchair to the bath being hoisted. I was quite shocked from previously being a professional earning 35,000 a year to be disregarded as completely disabled. They couldn't see past the fact that I was in a wheelchair that is not true that they are a really good place for disabled people on discharge, I was treated very badly. The manager was a very rude man
My sister always enjoys her stay at Halcon and I feel relieved to know she is in good and safe hands with kind staff.
I have been coming to this respite care centre for 15 years and I have always found that the staff are extremely helpful and professional. The rooms provide all the facilities one needs, hospital beds, ceiling hoist and fully equipped wet room bathrooms. The staff are all trained to use this equipment and do so very safely. There are TVs in all the rooms. Being very close to the center of Taunton mobile phone signals are excellent. It has extensive grounds and they are used for outdoor events in the summer. You can get public transport to the center of Taunton and a large retail park is not far away including multi screens cinema and bowling alley. There are staff specifically employed to help the respite and long-term clients with activities like arts and crafts and also group activities like bingo. They also organise outings. Three meals a day and unlimited coffee and tea and of course, biscuits are provided by a kitchen which seems to be open 24 hours! Five Stars.
We have been using Halcon Centre for over ten years and have always found the staff caring with the manager keeping a tight ship regarding standards.
For the last 10 years or more, I've been coming to Halcon Centre and I have always had excellent care.
Halcon Centre literally saved me during an incredibly difficult time. The manager is an absolute tour de force and will go the extra mile to help in any way he can. He really is exceptional. There is a fabulous camaraderie amongst all the staff and I felt comfortable and very well cared for during my stay. The whole centre radiates fun and unity and I cannot wait to go back!
Excellent care. Good food. Caring staff.
I moved from another area to Halcon Centre about 2 years ago. I enjoy the freedom to go out when we want in our accessible car to places like the cinema, bowling and town. There are in-house activities such as card making and Bocha baking.
Halcon Centre is an excellent respite care home. The staff are caring, kind and helpful and the home is well led with the management taking an active interest in all the clients. I have been able to take part in activities that I would not have been able to enjoy at home ie. a cinema visit. Well done, this home has improved massively since my last day five years ago.
Tthe team are always friendly, helpful to the visitors often going above and beyond. The care and consideration given to care and wellbeing - we believe is high quality and consistent. Well done and thank you - keep it up.
I like my stay at Halcon Centre because it is quiet and relaxing, has friendly staff and nice food. We go out walking around the town, shopping. We have art classes and play games. I would recommend the centre to friends.
Thank you very much, very good. Living the dream. I would like more activities, stimulating activities for my mind - games, word games, memory tests etc. Group or one-to-one. Bowls, chair hockey. Lovely, supportive staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Love you.
Has a lovely week, the care team are fantastic.
My sister had a good rest and she had a good time, came home rested and relaxed. Well looked after.
I was a regular respite client but had not been for two years because of the pandemic. I was made very welcome on arrival. The manager and staff are always very helpful, friendly and capable. Their care is excellent and nurse visits are pre-arranged as required. I was taken out several times including into Taunton where I was helped to buy clothes in Marks and Spencer at my request. I was also able to buy some jewellery for my wife. There were also activities at the centre and a TV in my room. I enjoyed my stay.
Halcon is exceptional, even during lockdown the care given was 100%, nothing was too much trouble for me, lovely and caring staff. Ranging from the food to little things like getting the paper I preferred thoroughly recommended.
My son has been residing at the Halcon Centre for several months. He is receiving excellent care there which gives me complete peace of mind for the first time since he was discharged from an acute care hospital after sustaining severe, multiple injuries. This was over 4 years ago. The Halcon Centre is extremely efficiently well run. It is warm and welcoming and is a 'Home from Home'. I am extremely thankful that my son is being so well cared for and can highly recommend this respite centre. We have been very fortunate.
