View Full Details of Haxby Hall Care HomeI visit almost every day so I am fully aware of how the home is run. There have been many staff changes in recent months, which have improved on how the home was run previously. All these changes have made living at Haxby Hall much better for my husband. The new manager has experience in all fields of care and in my opinion has added to how the home has improved. It is very important that family are kept informed at every level of change to their loved on in residence and this has been achieved.
After the review I wrote 3 months ago I'm delighted to be able to say that there has been a real turnaround at the home for the better. Concerns raised by myself and other relatives have been listened to and acted upon. I could see that the staff all wanted to show they could provide excellent care and I promised that if we could have one month without a serious negative incident then I would gladly update this review. A new manager, company support, and a staff that are thriving on the positive feedback that comes from delivering great care, are all making HH am excellent care home. Communication is improving markedly and systems have also improved. The biggest win for me is that, when there has been something wrong, it is taken seriously, addressed quickly and sorted out appropriately. I've realised in the last couple of weeks I'm finally visiting Mum and not arriving at the home each day to troubleshoot a list of problems. Thank goodness for that!
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Building excellent, carers, cleaners, deputies, entertainment, in fact can't think of anything not excellent!
Sadly my dad only spent 2 weeks in Haxby Hall, before passing away. All the staff that looked after dad were amazing, treating him with care and compassion at all times. We couldn't have asked for better care for him. My only regret, dad didn't spend more time at Haxby Hall, being looked after by the extraordinary people that work there. Thank you, to each and every one of you, for the comfort and support you gave us all over his last few days.
Had the most wonderful mothers day at the home, staff welcomed everyone had a lovely afternoon tea provided by the home ,mum really enjoyed it. Big thank you to all involved. the staff are lovely.
My dad recently spent 2 weeks at Haxby Hall on respite. The managers did a home visit which was very reassuring. They found out about him and what he liked. They assured him he wouldn't have to do anything he didn't want to. I had a meal in Restaurant to help settle my dad in which was appreciated. Unfortunately he decided to stay very much in his room not being much of a mixer. This was a shame as there seems to be a lot going on but that was very much his choice. The surroundings are lovely - we enjoyed sitting in the Sky Bar and also made use of one of the lounges to play dominoes and watch TV which my dad enjoyed. The carers and staff were always very kind and helpful and happy to go the extra mile if they could. The manager was very approachable and always quick to respond to enquiries and resolve any issues. A small downside is that messages don't always get through. It took a few phone calls to make sure Dad had a haircut! Overall, a good experience!
My little Mum had 5 weeks of Respite in Haxby Hall and the whole team was just fantastic! The manager, was so supportive of our situation and just so real, there is nothing pretentious about this place or the lovely staff. All of them genuinely cared about us and when mum was really poorly and confused they were so gentle and sincere in the way they cared for her, lovely, solid, kind, funny, experienced team of first class staff. (only thing I would ever change is the noise in the corridors from the call bell and maybe get some dementia friendly tv remotes)- Cannot thank them enough for being the best.
Since my friend moved in the care of Haxby hall she has received amazing care in the most wonderful surroundings. The team have been amazing. A very big shout out to one of the staff members, who has encouraged my spirited friend to socialise more and leave her room to help her mental health. Another staff member has also been very caring and helpful when my friend has needed support. Tea is a favourite of my friend and she reliably tells me the ladies do a very good job of it. 100% recommended to others .
This was my husband's second time for respite care. He was welcomed back so warmly and kindly and settled in quickly. The surroundings are beautiful, the staff are kind, caring and efficient. From the minute you walk in, to be greeted by the lady on reception, to the managers, the carers, the chef/cook, just everybody. You know that this is a good place and you can leave your loved one in safe hands. The fact that this was my husband's second respite stay at Haxby Hall and has already agreed to a third when I need a break, says it all.
I attended the Annual Staff Awards social afternoon at Haxby Hall Care Home with my elderly Mum (resident) Jan 25. I was impressed with the hard work and dedication of the Management and Carers working together to provide an excellent buffet and party afternoon for the residents and visitors. Well done.
I find the whole experience from a family members point of view very positive indeed. It's a beautiful care home that I'm so happy to see my Mum in. It's very clean and the staff are very attentive to both me and my Mum. I've found communication very good.
My parent moved into Haxby Hall shortly after it opened. The transition from living in their own property to living in a care home was never going to be easy but Haxby Hall is a warm and welcoming environment with a staff team who do all they can to ensure that life for residents is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Any issues raised have been promptly responded to and I feel confident that my parent is being well looked after. Before moving there accessing a GP had been nigh impossible but now they get proper access to a GP and their chronic health issues are now well managed. Food has been the only disappointment, meals can be very good sometimes but the choice and quality could be much better. Management is fully aware of the situation and working to resolve it with the appointment of a permanent head chef. The decision to move to a care home was not easy but Haxby Hall has been the right choice for my parent and the whole family.
Superb new building, fixtures and fittings. Spacious rooms, kept clean and tidy. Staff helpful, some more assertive than others. At times residents have to wait too long for assistance. Facilities/activities been poor due to staff shortages therefore not enough "stimulation"/interaction for residents, at times. Food on the whole is good but again hit/miss with kitchen staff. Early days still, but needs more "daily staffing" levels.
