My cousin has been at Newlands Care home for around 3 years and continues to go from strength to strength. The staff are always professional, offering excellent care with empathy and dignity at all times. She engages in a variety of activities both within the care home and on external visits. During a recent spell in hospital the staff ensured that they continued to support the family and our cousin always acting in her best interest until thankfully she was able to return back to the care home. The place is always, bright welcoming and it's a pleasure to visit.
As a relative,I feel my son is happy with everything at Newlands .He seems to be happy when we visit. His room always looks clean and in good decorative order. The staff are always friendly and have time to talk .My one concern is the shower in his bathroom. He only has the use of one hand therefore how does he wash himself and hold the shower? Could he not a have shower he can stand under as he's over 6 ft tall, may I respectfully request a rain shower or something similar so he can stand under it.
I am the step-brother of a severely disabled lady that's is entirely reliable upon a wheelchair for mobility. The support that she receives from the staff at Newlands is second to none. This consists of personal support and hygiene, financial guidance and transport to outside activities including shopping. She has her own big and airy room with en-suite facilities and her own telephone to communicate with friends and myself. She is encouraged to make local trips in her mobility chair. The home provides three wholesome meals a day with drinks facilities in the day rooms. There are plenty of activities for those residents that require them and television facilities in the rooms. Visitors are made very welcome and there are always helpful staff available to discuss and resolve any concerns. I am very grateful for the ease of communication and the welcoming atmosphere that the staff at Newlands always provide. Thanks!
My brother has now been at Newlands for 3 years. Because of his mental and physical condition it took him time to adjust but the staff have been brilliant and very patient when dealing with his often difficult behaviour. 3 years on, I have noticed a big improvement in my brothers behaviour and he has socialised more over the last 3 years to what he ever did before arriving at Newlands. There is always a nice calm atmosphere when I go to visit each week and everyone is always very friendly and welcoming. It is a huge comfort to know that my brothers needs are being met and I don't have to worry about him.
My cousin has been in Newlands for a couple of years and in all that time has been treated with care and dignity. Her mobility has progressed in leaps and bounds since being there. The staff are caring and nothing is too much trouble for them. No matter what time you go it's always the same .
My brother has been in the Care Home for 4 years, he tells the family he is happy, which is very important. Whilst the interior of the building has been improved, no progress has been made regarding the courtyards. Regrettably, my brother has been waiting for nearly a year for replacement hearing aids (left with one faulty one) with no idea when he will be given 2 new ones.
I have always found Newlands to be an excellent place to visit. The staff are friendly, efficient, and helpful and all the residents seem very happy and well cared for. It is a very happy place where everyone is made to feel valued and special.
My son has lived at Newlands for around 14 years. He really enjoys it there and calls it 'home'. The staff make lots of effort to ensure he's well cared for and happy and communication is always good. The home always makes sure my son can get to special family events and the odd surprise. We particularly like the new Hub area as it's very family-orientated.
Despite the considerable physical challenges my brother has he always appears happy whenever we visit. This is due to the wonderful care, understanding and professionalism of the staff. The last time we visited the home was nearing completion of its refurbishment and it was looking great. I know my brother gets the best possible care and would like to thank the staff for the great job they do.
My husband has been in Newlands since 2017 after looking at a large number of care homes and from the beginning the caring and friendly atmosphere is outstanding. They have supported us on this difficult journey many times when emotionally our family have found life difficult. I will be forever grateful for their care and understanding.
My son has been a resident of Newlands for about seventeen years and he is very happy there. His room is always in good order despite him not being the tidiest of people. He comes home approximately once a month for four or five days in addition to an annual holiday and Christmas or the New Year and on his return it is quite obvious that a member of staff has been in to attend to any housekeeping that might be needed. Over the last twelve months, the Unit (Newlands) has been renovated and decorated. A nice touch was each resident's name on the door with pictures reflecting their interests (in my son's case Motor Cars). I find that all the staff I encounter are happy to go the extra mile ensuring the residents feel a part of the Newlands Family. My son has a particular interest in music from the 1970s/1980s and likewise, a member of staff also likes this genre of music. The staff member is happy to find gigs for my son to attend accompanied by him as his career.
My husband has been in Newlands since the end of January and I’ve found it very nice, if I’ve had any problems they have been dealt with and they’ve only been teething problems as my husband has gbm4 and for 6 years I’ve cared for him so finding it hard to let go of caring for him still, there’s been a few carers that have been agency and quite honest really don’t know why they went into care but it’s all been dealt with. I find it a very approachable place the residents that I’ve met seem happy. Lots of work is being done inside the building and it all seems exciting. We went round a few care/nursing homes and Newlands was a place myself and my children liked from the first time we walked into the place.
My brother has been a resident at Newlands for very many years now and I have the pleasure of seeing how happy he is living there. His care needs are relatively complex and because he is unable to speak following a damaging stroke 9 years ago, it is not always easy for the care team to know what it is he might need. They are not daunted, however, and he receives absolutely wonderful care from people who make the effort to forge a meaningful relationship with him. From a concerned relative's perspective, I am continually in awe of the care team and the managers. The atmosphere in the home is so relaxed and friendly and when things do not go as planned e.g. an enforced hospital admission, I have always received timely and appropriate communication from the team to let me know what is going on. I'm always made to feel welcome when I visit and am relaxed in the knowledge that my big brother is in great hands, is getting the very best out of life and importantly, is happy.
My neighbour has had several respite stays with Newlands Care Home over several years. Newlands Care Home is run in a very professional manner and the care of the staff is very caring and considerate in all aspects. My neighbour is always happy when staying with Newlands and always looks forward for further stays. Friendly and very homely. The manager of Newlands is very professional and very helpful. Excellent care home, highly recommended.
All staff at Newlands understand the needs of my friend and do their utmost to maintain her dignity whilst providing high quality care. They are always cheerful, warm and welcoming and I like the 'family' feel to Newlands which makes it feel like a home - full of warmth. Senior staff are very observant and react promptly to any concerns raised or/and health issues as and when they occur for my friend. I feel very lucky that we found Newlands.
The care at Newlands is very high. I never worry about my brother there; I know he is in a safe pair of hands. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. My brother is very happy there and loves his trips out.
My niece broke her knee and has needed extra care because of her disability and the staff have been especially kind and considerate during her recovery.
Since my sister has been at Newlands home, she has been in the best of care of all the staff, with who she has a fun-loving and lovely relationship with. We couldn’t have asked for a better team who are kind, supportive and provide a person-centred approach at all times for all of the residents. The team have been brilliant in their approach during covid and organising visits in a safe way to see my sister as I recently got married and moved away. They have always been so supportive and welcoming to me, my husband and family, especially during celebrations such as my sister’s 30th and my wedding. They go above and beyond to suit the individual needs of my sister and family. The home manager works so hard to look after the staff and residents to ensure the best care is provided at all times. Thank you for all of your amazing care; it really is a place where my sister can call home and we couldn’t have wished for anymore.
For the past 3 years of my daughter living at Newlands, she has been in the best care of all the staff. They are extremely friendly, caring and supportive of our daughter, residents and families. My daughter is always smiling and happy with the staff and has developed a lovely relationship with them. The manager is always responsive to any concerns we may have and deals with them straight away, no matter the time of day. For our daughter and family, we couldn’t have asked for a better home and care team who are like our family. To us, this is a perfect home from home and we would like to sincerely thank them all for the best care they give. We would like to thank you all for keeping the residents safe during COVID and keeping us up to date with our daughter during this difficult time. It has been reassuring that the home has been covid free and the staff have worked really hard to keep this up. Thank you again for all that you have done and continue to do for our daughter.
A wonderful home. Residents are really well looked after and supported by friendly and dedicated staff. We are always made to feel very welcome. Visiting has been encouraged throughout the pandemic, in a safe environment adhering to government guidelines. Well done everyone.
