View Full Details of Dorrington House (Watton)From our first visit and being shown around, it was obvious that the home was very friendly, clean, warm and welcoming . Eleanor knew every residents name and greeted them with affection, seeing to their needs whilst explaining to us all about the rooms, lounges areas and routines. My father when arriving was welcomed by all the staff and residents alike and made to feel at home straight away. Francesca explained everything in detail and it was clear nothing was too much trouble. My father has changed from being to the point of giving up to having a new lease of life. He is encouraged to join in the vast array of activities and was taken out to the Christmas fair on the first weekend he arrived which he loved. Francesca has regularly emailed me on how my Father has settled in, which has been reassuring and a great comfort. I feel assured he is being well looked after and in experienced and caring hands.
My mother was transferred to Dorrington House following a few months stay in hospital after suffering heart failure and a stroke. She took a few weeks to settle down as she wanted to go home although owing to her condition this was not possible. All the staff have been wonderful, they are patient and caring and she is happy with them. It is really encouraging to see her joining in and she has made some friends with the other residents, which has been difficult for her as she is hard of hearing and needs her hearing aid. I especially would like to mention Hayley who organises the activities. She has been wonderful and is great with all the residents, making sure that everyone is included. The care home staff deal with a lot of challenging residents and I have always seen everyone treated with respect and on the whole it has a lovely atmosphere.
My parents moved to Norfolk 20 years ago from Kent. When Mum needed residential care, I was worried about her being in a home 2 and a half hours away. I am so relieved at how well she has settled at Dorrington House and how happy she is. It's home to her now. When we visit, she often says how happy she is living there, which is a load off my mind. I have considered moving her closer to me, but she is so settled and happy, I doubt I could find a home to equal Dorrington House and she would not like the upheaval. The staff are so thoughtful, kind and caring and do so many activities with the residents, it's such a happy place. I can't recommend it highly enough.
My father says he is happy here, we are kept fully informed at all times if there is a change in his health and team Dorrington are always happy to discuss my fathers health, which has been a bit up and down lately
Mum was taken to Dorrington House in late October after a spell in hospital. We have now visited on a couple of occasions, and found the staff to be helpful and friendly, as well as informative regarding Mum. Everywhere seems very clean and tidy, as well as bright and cheerful for the residents. On our first visit, we received a warm welcome from Francesca and Hayley, and both seemed very kind, towards us and Mum, who seems to have settled in pretty well. It's great that they have managed to integrate Mum in the group events, as she has been quite isolated in recent years. Her partner of over 30 years unfortunately passed away soon after her admission to hospital, so it's fabulous that she has adapted to life away from her home.
My mum has been here since October 2025 and seems to be settling in ok the staff are all very friendly and helpful, rooms are nice mum has her own tv and pictures on the wall making it like home .access to a hairdressers and chiropodist is nice ,the activity team are friendly and put a lot into activities for the residents mum enjoys knitting and crafts and cooking .singalongs and the Halloween party. We are kept upto date regarding mums medication . And anything we need to know we just ask and find staff are very helpful . Mum's favourite meal is proper fish and chips which we take in every fortnight and also fresh fruit which we provide for her .. We are lucky to have mum nearby for easy visiting . Looking forward to nicer weather so we can get mum outside in her wheelchair as she misses being outside .
My Nan has been a resident at Dorrington House for the last year and I believe it was the best thing we did for her. The staff are great, always time for a chat when I visit and are brilliant with Nan. She can be quite stubborn at times (and at 91 will speak her mind!) but they deal with her patiently and with a smile. I'm kept informed at all times of anything medical, and whilst I've been unable to visit recently due to having an operation, they have enabled us to speak over video call. The events and daily activities they have on offer are very good (and the team encourage her to join in). Other things such as she has access to a hairdresser and chiropodist are good to have and I am happy that she is well cared for.
My mother has been a resident of Dorrington House for nearly two years. She had reached the point where she was no longer able to look after herself safely and needed the 24 hour care that a care home can give. Dorrington House made her time their very comfortable and enabled her to be able take part in activities she would not have been able to do living on her own. She had people she could talk to all the while and had a team around her who could ensure she had all the care she needed. It has always been obvious speaking to the staff that they cared for mum and spent the time to get to know her and to understand what help she needed. It also greatly helped me to know that she was being cared for and kept safe. If there were any medical issues the team were always on top of them, ensuring that mum got all the medial attention she needed. Overall I am very pleased with the care that mum got at Dorrington House. The home is very well run and has a team of caring staff.
I had never been in a care home before when my mum was placed at Dorrington Watton with the help of social services. We quickly realised what a special place this is. It's been about 3-4 months now and twice last week Mum told us how much she loves living there. She never feels lonely and there's always something going on and plenty of people around her. I didn't realise how special all staff in care homes are, we visit mum nearly every day and all the staff interact with the residents like they are their own families. I could never do what they do, but I'm extremely grateful that they can and are.
All the staff at Dorrington House Watton are very friendly and caring towards the residents. I have never once seen them be anything but happy and attentive. I feel happy that any concerns I might have about my sister's health are dealt with swiftly. She is very happy there and likes all the staff immensely, she enjoys the trips out to the church once a week and there are plenty of activities for the residents to join in.
the home is very professionally run the staff excellent and very friendly the activities at the home are very good there is always something going on the food is well presented and mum seems to like it
I just wanted to say a huge 'Thank you' to all the wonderful staff at Dorrington House. Dad has been here for 2 years now, and we couldn't be happier with the excellent care, warmth, company, and attention that he receives every day. Dad can be quite unsettled at times, and I know that you all treat him with such respect and thoughtfulness, putting him at ease. This alone is very much appreciated. I feel happy knowing that he is so well cared for. Dad loves the food, and always says 'What a good chef they have' and the lovely staff are often making him his very favourite cheese sandwiches. You all go above and beyond your duties and we are incredibly grateful. THANK YOU ALL. Xx
My mum went in for respite care ,but stayed longer term after the sad passing of her husband.I have found the care home to be lovely! So happy and supportive to the residents and their families,my mum has settled in well and has thrived being there . The dementia care is top notch ,I can't recommend them enough!
Staff disinterested, bad communication, food poor, toast and cereal every day for breakfast, severe dementia residents disturbing other residents through shouting.. other residents telling them to shut up, lack of response from care workers, manager lacks communication skills..... I dread visiting dad, his deterioration in the months he has been resident is appalling...
Overall Dorrington House has proved the right choice for mum. The carers from the senior staff through to the cleaners and general staff are always kind and helpful and will always try and address any issues or concerns as quickly as they are able. Mum is 93 and will soon have been in Dorrington for 2 years. I do think the decor throughout is starting to look like it requires some freshening up and updating, however that isn't to take away from how well mum is cared for and looked after. Whenever I visit I am always made welcome, all the staff stop to chat, whatever their job or position. Nothing is ever going to be perfect, but all in all I think Dorrington House does an extremely good job and I am pleased with our choice of carehome and I know she is being well looked after.
Enthusiastic, friendly members of staff are always there to help with dad, and they work so hard. They always let me know if there was a problem. They always say hello when I am there, which does mean a lot as dad doesn't like coming out of his room. So they always make time for him. Couldn't ask for anything better for dad, he loves it there.
Mums been at Dorrington House for over two years. While the decor may need some updating I can't fault the home and its staff, they really do care. We have worked together to settle mum and deal with any issue that arise's. For the first time in mums life she has a social circle the ladies in the Lounge are good pals encouraging each other in the activities. It's a joy to see them interact with each other even if some days they're muddled. They have a busier calendar than me! If you're looking for a home for a family member which you can trust I would 100% recommend Dorrington House I'm kept updated. It's up to you on how much you're involved. I'm very involved and always feel welcomed no matter what time of the day I show up. They have nothing to hide the residents wellbeing always comes first. Well done Dorrington House.
I find Dorrington House to be an excellent place for my sister to be. The carers are excellent and very helpful, kind and considerate. The premises and bedrooms are all very clean. And best of all I am always offered a cup of tea "LOL". Overall, an excellent home.
Absolutely brilliant, wonderful staff who really go above and beyond,in the true sense of the expression. Dad is really happy there kept active and involved and always tells me about his new friends. He really loves the food as well and has put on weight (in the good sense) since arriving there. Thank you all so much.
All the staff are very friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble. I had mixed emotions when we needed to find a care home for mum, we visited a few in the area and chose the Dorrington as it seemed so friendly and very welcoming, the overall standard of care looked to be very good, and we haven't been disappointed it been 4 months now and mum is very happy and has settled in very well.
