View Full Details of The Laurels Residential Care HomeI gave a 5 star review for The Laurels whilst they were caring for my mum. This review concerns their end of life care. Mum has now passed away. I will be forever grateful for the love and care all the staff showed/gave to mum and the support given to me. Everyone there is so kind and it gave me great comfort to feel that mum was amongst friends during her final days. Huge thank you to you all
We are so grateful to the fantastic team at The Laurels for their loving care of my father-in-law following a horrid stint in hospital over Christmas. When he first arrived, he was struggling to get out of bed and had no motivation to get dressed and leave his room. By the end of his time at The Laurels, the team had managed to rehabilitate him to the point where he was able to walk with his frame, join for meals and enjoyed looking smart! They worked wonders and were absolute saviours to us and our family. We will forever to be in their debt! Thank you.
I cannot speak highly enough of the manager and her team at The Laurels. My mum was diagnosed with a life-threatening cancer in early April and the manager helped us to facilitate a protracted discharge from Peterbough City Hospital to The Laurels. The manager even visited mum in hospital a couple of times to make her feel comfortable, which was very helpful as mum had previously been pretty resistant to going into care, despite her condition. The team made her feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Regular check in visits to her room. Endless cups of tea and biscuits for visitors. And lots of support and understanding for a situation that was changing almost daily. As it turned out, my mum lasted less than a fortnight before she died, but the staff were there for her until the end. I would have no hesitation in recommending friends or family to use The Laurels.
The Laurels has been a total godsend to us! After suffering a nasty fall at home, my mum went into the home for 2 weeks respite care. She has now decided that she likes it so much that she doesn't want to go home (which she couldn't manage anyway) The management are fantastic, caring and supportive in every way, and this comes down to all the carers, who are always there for mum. The Laurels is a small, friendly home, mum describes it as cosy! The food is good, but most importantly I can relax, knowing that she is happy, and very well cared for.
When my father became unwell and realised he'd need care, he told us he'd like The Laurels to look after him. From our first approach to the manager, to enquire about availability, our experience was one of reassurance, care and professionalism. Nothing was too much trouble and despite NHS difficulties in arranging a transfer from hospital to The Laurels, everything was accommodated calmly and without fuss. Once my father arrived, we could immediately see the care, compassion and diligence of the whole team - not just for him but for all of the residents. The way they go about their work is wonderful, we can never thank them enough for that. Although my father was only with them a short time, we felt that the team at The Laurels really got to know him and made him feel comfortable and welcome, and it was lovely to hear them occasionally laughing together - like any family members would. Many of my memories of Dad's stay at The Laurels will forever be happy ones.
The staff and management take care of all residents to a very high standard. Nothing is too much trouble. Also very knowledgeable in medication which saw someone go from a very bad state to a happy individual in the space of 6 months. Management are always there to help and advise.
I chose The Laurels because I was looking for a smaller setting for my father, I could not recommend The Laurels more, it really gives a home-from-home feel and the staff are so caring and welcoming. The manager came to visit my Dad before he went in and she really got to know my Dad and what makes him happy. My dad was 100 when he passed away and I'm so happy his last days were spent with his Laurels family.
My mum was a regular resident of The Laurels, her first stay being in April 2023. Despite her reluctance to go she ended up being a regular resident for respite and in between some weeks made daily visits there. They made her feel so welcome at all times and took great care of her. In January 2024 my mum went again to The Laurels for respite following a bout of illness and hospital stay. Unfortunately she sadly passed away on 28 January whilst there. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and love they showed to my mum in her final weeks, days and hours. That care and love extended to her family at a very sad time. The management and staff are amazing - their prime focus is ensuring their residents are safe happy and well looked after. I would not hesitate in recommending them as a facility for any person needing residential care.
My mother was a resident at The Laurels until her death in May 2024, to say she enjoyed her residency is an understatement. The facilities, and care were exceptional, the staff couldn't do enough for everyone and they are a major contributor to the overall well-being of all of the residents. I would not hesitate in highly recommending anyone looking for a care home to visit The Laurels and see for themselves what a great place it is!
Both of my parents now reside at The Laurels. This is an excellent home with a very professional yet caring team. They treat Mum and Dad as if they were their own parents. Mum and Dad are both happy and very settled. I am so thankful.
My parents' needs changed and it was apparent that full-time care was required for both. My dad has mobility issues and my mother has dementia. We found The Laurels through a referral from a close friend and are so glad we did. My parents are safe, well cared for, stimulated and very happy. Most importantly, they are together. The staff at The Laurels treat my parents like their own. Lovingly and with such care. The senior management, keep me informed of any concerns and additional needs. The manager has selected the best team and they have done an amazing job in creating a relaxed and safe environment. Now I can visit my parents to see them and enjoy their latter years without worrying about them during the night. I honestly cannot thank them all enough for everything they do for my parents. I would highly recommend The Laurels as one of the best residential care homes for those who want a family feel for their loved ones.
Beautiful clean home, very welcoming, the manager and staff are very caring and respectful. My sister is so happy and settled, I have peace of mind knowing she is well cared for and happy. Would 100% recommend The Laurels.
My father moved into The Laurels in September 2023 after 99 years living in his own home. This move was made with some trepidation. Four months later, both my father and I agreed that this was the best decision he ever made. The manager and her team have made his life truly comfortable and they have been very caring. My father reports his meals as varying between good, very good and excellent. His medical care has been second to none as the manager seems to have built an extremely good relationship with the medical practice. From every angle, we give The Laurels five Stars.
My mother was a resident of The Laurels care home for four years. Wonderful, kind staff who looked after Mum so well, to whom we owe so much. The home has been taken over, due to the retirement of previous owners. Since the takeover of the building, garden and car parking area have been improved, the interior has been decorated to a high standard and is now light and airy, and as I understand all rooms will be brought up to the same standard in due course. A big thank you to all the staff, managers and carers for everything you did for Mum and I wish you well for the future.
Wonderful care home. Lovely caring staff who made my father's stay very comfortable and happy. Delicious hot home-cooked food. Warm comfortable rooms with TV. A big thank you to all the amazing wonderful carers who looked after my dad and all patients like family.
