View full details of Field HouseI feel that the facilities and the care is excellent and the home is very welcoming.
My parent has been a resident at Field House for a year and a half, and the facilities and staff are excellent, and staff are extremely friendly and support given to residents and family is second to none. I couldn't wish for better.
When we were choosing a place for Mum about a year ago, we hoped Field House would be the right place and we were delighted to find that it was. It is a wonderful home set in beautiful grounds with a fantastic team of carers who are always keen to do their very best for Mum. The activities team make sure there is something interesting happening on a very regular basis and Mum joins in with just about everything. The decor is delightful with lovely seasonal displays changed on a regular basis. Every member of staff and management are always approachable, friendly and make time for Mum and for us as a family whenever we have a question or request. The plaque outside the front door explains that the house was left to the town by the original owners so the elderly of Shepton Mallet would have somewhere nice to live and that's exactly what it provides. We couldn't have chosen anywhere better for Mum and would very strongly recommend Field House
The managers were hands on and instilled a culture where staff enjoyed caring for residents and wanted to work there. All members of staff were lovely and really focused on the care and safety of the residents, who were all treated as individuals. My lovely Mum was treated with utmost dignity, and with tremendous care, love and compassion. When we were no longer able to give her the 24 care she needed, it was a great comfort to us that she was safe and nurtured in such a lovely place. The family visited her daily over nearly 3 years and not only did they care for Mum but also us. Nothing was too much trouble. Field House has a lovely homely feel and was always beautifully decorated. There was lots for the residents to do if they wanted to, and it was lovely to hear laughter. Field House made Mums last days the most special they could be in the circumstances for Mum and for us who were with her. Thank you. We will miss visiting. It should be renamed Field House - Caring Home
It is always a pleasure to visit my sister at Field House, where she is very happy. The staff are invariably welcoming & obviously enjoy working here. The entrance hall is decorated for different events throughout the years, providing an ever-changing, stimulating environment for residents and visitors alike. Bedrooms are clean and comfortable, and furnishings are good. All the staff I have dealt with have taken time to listen to what I have to say or answer any queries that I may have. There are many varied activities, visiting, entertainment, and outings. Having had experience of other care homes in the area due to family circumstances. Field House stands out as exemplary, always going above and beyond.
Mum has Lewy Body Dementia; she has terrifying hallucinations, which to her are real - she also has mobility issues. Staff at Field are genuinely fond of Mum, despite the fact she has zero filter at times! The home is clean, tidy, and homely, and there is a kind, caring atmosphere which is shown at all levels (leadership to housekeeping staff levels). Staff encourage Mum to take part in activities and have fun.
My 94 year old dad went into Fieldhouse in December 2025 for respite and enjoyed being there he wanted to make it his home. As a family we were anxious about finding a care home for dad but my worries were put to ease when I met the manager. Immediately I felt I could trust the manager and could tell by her manner and professionalism that she had a lot of experience with the elderly and with managing care homes. Dad got involved in regular activities and visits to the park and on occasion the staff would have animals visiting which was fantastic. Dad had a small appetite but staff encouraged dad with foods he enjoyed. Dad also received outstanding care at the end of his life , with love , kindness and continuity from all staff members. A few days before dad passed away, I was able to stay overnight in a spare room provided and the staff looked after me too, I could not of asked for more. I hope this encourages families to not hesitate when considering this home.
After a 6-month battle with North Yorkshire council I was finally able to move my Mum down from Yorkshire to Field House. Somerset Care - Field House held my Mum's room for the whole of that time and the manager along with the administration team offered me support and advice throughout that difficult period. I spent a good 2 weeks visiting my Mum every day to help her settle in and was so impressed with the care, my Mum was 'walking with intent' so the team put in safety precautions to ensure she was well looked after and was kept safe. The lunches, dinners, snacks, and the activities are great, even a small bar for residents. The cleanliness is exemplary, and the grounds are well maintained. I was able to choose my Mum's room the décor is nice, and it has lovely views over the grounds. I am reassured so much by the care given and the updates and checking in with me to see if I am satisfied. It's a lovely care home managed well with a very hardworking team.
Takes a long time for the front door to be answered sometimes. The system to check in is easy to use. Staff are very friendly. Staff seem to want to listen and help. Her room could be cleaner, and the bathroom could be cleaner some days. I feel she needs more encouragement in personal hygiene as she can be lazy to do this herself. Overall, she is happy here and feels safe.
My mother moved into Field House end of 2024 has settled in well enjoys life in the home. It is lovely seeing her joining in the activities, care staff seem to know each individual resident to meeting their individual needs. We have seen mum flourish in many ways since being here. Thank you all.
Field House feels warm friendly and inclusive. My dad says "the food is lovely and there is plenty of it". Everywhere is clean and fresh. My dad also says that he finds it interesting as there is always something to do. Everybody who works at Field House is helpful approachable and kind. My dad feels supported and reassured I feel exactly the same and so do the rest of the family. Thank you to everyone at Field House for doing such a fantastic job of looking after my dad.
Mum came into Field House for respite with the view to staying permanently, she settled well and has been a resident for 6 months. The staff and carers are very supportive and caring especially in the late afternoon when mum is usually unsettled due to her dementia. Mum gets on well with the carers they bring out the cheeky side of her. Mum's room is always clean and tidy. She is eating well and has put on weight which is good. The home is local so easy for the family to visit. Mum is well looked after and cared for.
A very positive experience, my Mum stayed for nearly 3 weeks for respite. It was lovely and homely, with lovely rooms. The staff was very caring and the food was good. If Mum has to go back I would not hesitate to send her to Field House. 5*!
Warm, welcoming and loving environment. The staff are exceptionally kind and helpful, and the home is small enough to be so friendly and feels like a family, not a care home. Highly recommend this place and commend all the wonderful staff. Grateful to have found it. My sister is so happy and relaxed now, truly a relief and less worried about her future well-being.
Mum has been a resident for several months now, and on the numerous visits I have made, I can see that she is being well looked after by the conscientious staff, who it appears to me are working hard with limited numbers. I am always greeted with a smile and an answer should I have any queries. Mum isn’t one for getting out of her room too often but does enjoy going downstairs when Elvis serenades the residents. I know when I leave that she will be in good hands, and thank the staff for their hard efforts.
Field House has welcomed my mum into the care home so warmly. My mum has settled so nicely with the help of all the care staff, who have been very kind and helpful. Although Mum doesn't leave her room very often, the staff take time to have a chat with her and Mum says regularly that she is happy there, which is the most important thing.
Everyone at Field House is absolutely wonderful. Our experience of having my aunt here has been extremely beneficial to her health and well being! The staff always greet us and residents with such love and care. It’s a lovely place and the employees are even more lovely.
Dad has been at Field House Care Home for five months and has settled well. He is safe, well cared for, well fed, warm and joins in all the social activities on offer. Unfortunately, he had covid recently but the care he received was wonderful. He commented he was being waited on hand and foot whilst being kept in isolation. The carers certainly went the extra mile during that time for which we are very grateful. Thank you.
Unfortunately Dad recently had covid and had to isolate in his room. The care, help and support he received was fantastic. He told us he was well looked after, knowing he had the illness and that he had to stay in his room, although we understand that was a challenge due to his dementia. The family say a big thank you to the wonderful team.
The care that is given to my mum is fantastic. My mum is 93, lives on her own with her TV for mental stability. She has fallen a few times which each time she has been taken to hospital. Mum has vacant moments of short-term memory so visiting at home was talking to yourself or a small interaction from Mum. Now updates I have my mum back. Mum has changed due to the care and attention that Field House provided from all the staff. Mum interacts in activities, loves the food and sleeps like a log. Has the hairdresser every week and Mum tells me and my brother that nothing is too mych trouble for the staff if you need them. We are truly thankful Mum is there.
