Over all the care is good, the staff are run off their feet and do long shifts.
The carers I have been in contact with are excellent, however night shift could do with a shake up regarding toileting care.
Unfortunately the food is poor and overcooked, tasteless and not a great variety.
The
elderly don't want a pie or a pasty that cant be cut or even chewed
Not sure where the ingredients come from but its such a waste of food when they can not eat it, I have seen what is served and it requires upgrading/ training perhaps.

My Mum has been a resident for 2 years. All the carers and staff at The Hawthornes do a fantastic job under difficult and sometimes very upsetting circumstances. I am confident and feel reassured that my Mum is safe and cared for, which is not easy given her overall health, age and fragility. I am a
regular visitor at different times of the day and have seen everything they do at first hand . Let's not forget those times when carers and staff alike are there for a resident at the end of life stage and the strength it must take for them to deal with and carry on, which deserves some recognition. Everyone treats the residents with respect and care they deserve, especially those suffering with various types and stages of dementia. There are regular well organised activities for the residents to enjoy along with having their hair and nails done. Thank you to all the staff, kitchen, cleaners, carers and management for all they do and for looking after my Mum at The Hawthornes.

The majority of the time, I feel my mum is happy, well looked after by the staff. The staff keep my posted on hospital appointments she may have or if there are any concerns. My mum has mentioned though that the food 'has gone downhill'. She says its not always warm and isn't as good as it used
to be.

Mum has been a resident here for 18 months. After settling in, she has been happy here. Her mobility has improved: she was using wheelchair when arrived, but now walks independently with a frame. Her nutritional needs have been carefully monitored and referral to dietician: she arrived at under
7 stone, but is now back to her normal weight of 9 stone. She is more stimulated and the social aspects have been positive for her. She told me when I visited last week that she 'loved living here'. It has definitely been a positive for her, and as a family it has taken a lot of the worry we had when she was living at home alone.

Since my dad arrived at the home he has been treated wonderfully. All the staff are caring and lovely. All our questions have been answered straightaway. Dad is very well cared for and we cannot ask for more than that.

Although the care is generally good, it can vary at the times when agency staff have to be used. I have rated the food very poor because of the quality of the food. The kitchen staff do their best.

My stay at 'The Hawthornes' has been a delight. Everyone has been so kind and caring and nothing has been too much trouble. The room has been very comfortable, the food very tasty and enjoyable with a 'home cooked' feel. I could not have been looked after better anywhere and would be very happy to
come again.

My stay was very good, and the time I was in there, I was aware that there were no locks on any door. I found a female in my room when I returned for my lunch to get my drink for the afternoon. And the night before I came home, I was awakened by a male trying to enter my room, and being told it was
not his room. I think there should be locks on the doors.

Sadly our lovely mum passed away on 22 August after nearly 2 years being cared for at The Hawthornes.
I can't praise all the staff enough for the kindness shown to both our mum and us during her last few days. They did everything possible to make sure mum was comfortable & treated with dignity. Mum
even had her hair done during that last week & nothing was too much trouble.
It was superhero day in the home on 22 August & I want to give a massive shout out to all the superhero staff who work at The Hawthornes.
To pass your mum's care to someone else is really difficult, but we made the best choice when our mum moved to The Hawthornes. I can't praise them all enough.

At a difficult time for both family and parents, the staff were so loving and encouraging, professional and compassionate, just what is needed. Any issues were dealt with very quickly, and nothing was too much trouble. Visiting was always a nice experience despite the difficult time we were having
as a family. Can't thank them enough for everything.

Shocking behaviour from some of the staff (not all ). You can tell its just a job. My mum was in less than 6 weeks and in the first 3 weeks I discovered she had not been showered or bathed despite being an infection risk. When I challenged this shocking revelation I was informed they had forgot to
put mum on the care plan and the team member would let her manager know straight away, they then tried to back track saying she was on a different care plan!!! ( one that clearly doesn't keep the residents clean then I guess ) they tried to blame mum by stating she refused which she hadn't. she wouldn't. When they showered her that evening after complaining she loved it, the team rang me and I could hear her enjoying herself and having a laugh. The manager didn't appear to be that bothered either, not very approachable. less than 6 weeks my mum sadly passed away due to Sepsis.

We are writing with heavy hearts to say goodbye to this wonderful place, as our beloved dad, passed away on April 4th. My sister and I want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you - the carers, kitchen staff, laundry, and cleaners - for the love, care, and kindness you showed
Dad during his time here. Your dedication and compassion helped him live longer than we expected, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
The receptionist warm welcome and smile every morning brightened our days, and the management, were exceptional in every way. HER support and understanding made a huge difference to Dad's stay and our peace of mind.
If you're looking for a truly lovely and friendly care home, we would highly recommend The Hawthornes without hesitation. The commitment to care and support is truly second to none.
My sister and I will deeply miss the friendships
we've built with everyone here. XX

My Dad has since passed away April 25 after spending 13 months in the care home without an adjustable bed was not able to sit up and have breakfast in bed in all his time At Hawthornes, Family had to buy Dad a new Mattress. Dad was self funding £1000 a week and had to buy his own mattress. This home

Dad is very well cared for. He has Alzheimer's and does not have full capacity. I needed to speak to dad about the property he owns and asked if a member of staff could accompany me. The lady on reception spoke with the manager and it was agreed. A senior member of staff did so. We discussed how to
proceed in dad's best interests before speaking to dad. The conversation went very well indeed and dad was happy throughout. A testament to working together in Dads best interests. Thank you
As an extra, I have had to deal with cancer for the past 15 months and everyone at The Hawthorne's has been exemplary in their support of dad and myself through this. I cannot thank you enough!
