Specialising in care for the elderly, The Hawthornes provides 24-hour residential care within a modern and building in Birkenshaw, a village between Bradford and Leeds.

The home has ensuite rooms, all decorated to a high standard with modern furnishings and fittings and ample space for residents to personalise to their own taste.

Communal areas are spacious and light and it’s here that residents often spend time together with a choice of bustling or quiet lounges, ideal for personal gatherings with family or friends.

The home is very much part of the local community with residents and staff often taking part in local events, in addition to regular meetings with the local primary school and other community groups.

The activity coordinator supports the individual interests and hobbies of the residents, providing a full calendar of events and plans that residents can get involved in and look forward to.

Directions:

From Leeds City Centre:

1. Join the A64(M) from Great George St and Merrion St.
2. Head east on Great George St towards Cookridge St and continue onto Merrion St.
3. Merrion St turns left and becomes New Briggate. Use the left lane to take the Inner Ring Road/A58(M) slip road.
4. Take A58(M), A643, M621 and A650 to Whitehall Rd in Drighlington and merge onto A64(M).
5. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A58/A643 and continue to follow A643.
6. At Elland Rd Interchange, take the 3rd exit onto the M621 slip road to M62/Manchester/Halifax/Huddersfield. Merge onto M621.
7. Exit onto Gelderd Rd/Gildersome Interchange/A62 towards Bradford (East)/A650.
8. Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto Gildersome Interchange.
9. Use the left 2 lanes to turn slightly left onto Wakefield Rd/A650.
10. Continue on Whitehall Rd E/A58 to your destination in Birkenshaw
11. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Whitehall Rd E/A58
12. Turn right onto Old Ln and then turn left onto Town St. Turn right onto Mill Ln.
13. Turn left and the home will be on the left.

Always a very welcoming feel when visiting. Very clean, warm and tastefully decorated rooms and other areas. Residents seem happy, well cared for and have many activities during the week to occupy them.
Staff are very approachable, helpful and always seem to be very busy attending to residents needs. My mother in law seems to be much happier and far better cared for since moving here, compared to her latter years spent living alone with only daily carers popping in for short periods.

I am pleased to read that your mother in law is much happier since moving into her new home, we try and provide the best care possible for all of our residents and help them settle in as best we can.

My mum has been in the home since March 2017, in my opinion, she has been treated very well. The staff always appear to be helpful and treat mum with respect and dignity. I think the staff show great patience in treating the residents in a good manner, not something I am sure I could do it is a vocation to work in this environment.
