View Full Details of Charnwood HouseGoing into Charnwood House has been an extremely positive experience for my mother. Mum has always maintained that she would not go in an home. She settled in quickly enjoying the interaction between staff and other residents and is very happy. From the onset staff have been welcoming and helpful. Personal care has been excellent. When I felt mum needed further medication, staff listened to my concerns and called the GP. After visiting several potential homes as soon as I entered Charnwood I felt mum would be happy there.
My mum has been here since February 2024. The staff are lovely, always engaging with mum. Lots of smiles. Management are always available, often just for a chat. The food throughout the day is very good quality and varied. Residents rooms have en-suite w/c and shower. Each unit has its own lounge area and kitchen/dining area. There is a much larger communal lounge used for group activities. Mum's room has her own furniture and pictures on the walls and her treasured ornaments. There is a residents family and friends group TWIRL (Together we improve residents lives) who meet every month to put forward ideas and offer to help with the many activities. I was told from the first day to feel at home and treat Charnwood house as mum's home. Mum's fellow residents and carers are like a family. Mum is happy, and I'm happy that mum is being very well cared for.
Lovely care home for dementia. The staff are very caring and accommodating with any issues that may arise. They are knowledgeable with ideas and solutions for my dads individual needs. They go above and beyond to keep him happy, loved, cared for and safe. Thank you all for all of your support!
I would like to thank all the staff and carers at Charnwood House, your love, care, understanding and support for Norma has been wonderful. Extending such great understanding and empathy for members of our family. Your kindness and high standards have ensured that the close of Mum's life has been honoured with dignity and respect. We will always remember the outstanding contribution you have made.
My dad stayed at Charnwood for the last 9 months of his life. He had dementia & had mostly lost the ability to walk. As a family we were reluctant to move my dad into permanent residential care but we could no longer provide the care that he needed. We needn't have worried. Within days of him moving in we knew he was safe & well looked after. He was always clean & well presented when we visited. The staff were always very friendly & welcoming & it was obvious from their interactions with my dad & the other residents that they genuinely cared & treated everyone with the utmost respect. My dad became very ill very quickly while I was visiting him. The staff were outstanding in their response to an emergency situation. My dad was taken to hospital within 20 mins but he died 4 days later. I cannot praise the staff enough for how they handled a very serious situation, being both professional, calm & caring. I will always be grateful to Charnwood for looking after my dad so well.
The care my Mother-in-law received at Charnwood House was first class. She was treated respectfully at all times and the staff seemed genuinely concerned for her well being at all times. The end of care treatment she received was exemplary. The staff were always available and helpful to visitors, in my experience, and answered any questions honestly and fully.
Where to start?! My mum went into Charnwood House November 2023, I was very apprehensive about her moving into a care home but I know I couldn't look after her anymore. However, I can safely say that immediately mum was made to feel at home, her photos were put on the wall on the same day as she moved in, and I was assured they would look after mum for me. This is exactly what they did do. So very kind and caring and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. I was welcomed in to be part of the Charnwood family. Amazing staff, from management to care workers so supportive in all aspects even after mum passed away. Thank you.
The home comes across as being very well run and managed. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff are friendly. My mother has settled in well in no small part due to the staff spending a lot of time to talk to her, which is very important to an old and confused lady! So far, I'm very happy with the placement.
My nan was a resident at Charnwood House for 15 months and during her time there she was well-looked after and cared for, the staff were wonderful with her making sure her needs were catered for and she was never alone during the day. She was encouraged to engage with the activities and made lots of lovely friends whilst she was there. Several of the carers went above and beyond their job role and duties to ensure that the last week of my nan's life she was well attended to and for that our family will always be grateful.
We are very happy with our experience of Charnwood House. My dad was well looked after, showered every day, shave every other day, clothes changed every day. My dad enjoyed the meals and looked well fed. The staff are all so friendly and caring. The room well equipped and clean. A big thank you to all at Charnwood House. Looking forward to using Charnwood House in the near future.
My mum stayed at Charnwood for some respite care I cannot fault anything from the minute she arrived the manager and staff were so compassionate and caring fir my mum and also myself as this was a very difficult and upsetting time for us both My mum always said how nice the staff were every time I visited I would recommend Charnwood to anyone that needed care
I have not visited a care home since 1985 when my mother was a resident. I was a bit apprehensive about assessing care homes for my husband who has dementia. A social worker advised me to look at the staff not the decor to decide what was required. I asked staff how long they had been employed at Charnwood and found some had been there 5 and 9 years which was reassuring. The staff are very caring and look after my husbands needs. They are patient with him he is well fed and his personal hygiene is excellent. The decor is satisfactory.
Honestly, my mum has vascular dementia and what a complete turnaround. Obviously, she still has dementia but since my mum started residing in Charwood she has gone from strength to strength. She engages with people, laughs - I feel as though I have my mum back. The care team are excellent food, rooms and entertainment all brilliant. Thank you all so much forever in your debt.
Since moving here in November 2024, our mum has come on leaps and bounds. We have peace of mind she is in a safe, well-run establishment. The staff are polite, professional and helpful always looking happy in their role as caregivers. Excellent!
Mum has been at Charnwood House for two years now. She is very well looked after and all the carers are kind and friendly. Mum's room is always clean and tidy as are the lounge areas. The only issues we have had is that some items have gone missing over time but understand that this is inevitable.
Facilities, food and staff all first rate and can't recommend enough. Always confident that on any visit mum will be happy to see us and so lovely to have piece of mind to know that mum is cared for and safe.
Charnwood House is by far the best care home for mum out of the three we have experienced in the area. The staff have all got to know mum and are more than aware of her needs and likes. The manager's door is always open with a friendly chat on the way in or out. Knowing mum is well cared for gives the whole family piece of mind. I can't recommend strongly enough.
Absolutely lovely staff, and very professionally run. My mum was well looked after, made great connections with the staff, even though she was only there a short time. Staff are always on hand to speak too. They have a great connection with the clients.
My dear mum was a resident. Unfortunately, we lost our dear mum on Monday 19th August. There was so much going on I always enjoyed visiting and seeing her laughing. Entertainment was brilliant music, films, baby chicks being hatched, fetes, parties, Xmas parties so so much going on. My mum had the best time of her life at Charnwood and I will miss all the wonderful staff. On behalf of my dear mum and family, I am beyond words for the care you gave to her and us as a family, and will miss you all dearly. I cannot thank you all enough for everything and will miss you all at Sycamore Lodge which my mum and our family loved too. So behalf of myself, my sister, and my brother we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the amazing time my mum had with you it was like one big holiday. Many thanks and love to you all for the amazing care and lots of laughs. Will miss you all so much Love myself and the family and of course our dear, funny, and amazing mum.
After visiting many care homes in Coventry my Auntie moved into Charnwood House at the beginning of October 2023. We arrived on a dark cold Friday evening, she was assigned a keyworker who helped to settle her in and made her feel welcome. She has now been on Oak for over 7 months and the staff on Oak have taken time to learn about my Auntie and our family. They give me regular feedback on my Auntie's care and I have no hesitation in approaching any of the staff if I have any concerns about her welfare. All of the staff from the cleaners and the chefs to the carers and managers are friendly and supportive. Residents have the opportunity to join in many activities either in the large lounge, the smaller one on Oak, or the gardens. My Auntie enjoys the visits from the local nursery children and a recent favourite was the incubating eggs and the subsequent hatching of the chicks, such a good way to generate interaction and conversation.
