View Full Details of Surrey HeightsI visited today and was very impressed by the activity that was being carried out for the residents. The entertainment staff were very good even asked if I minded being in any of the photos taken. (Very respectful) I was then invited to stay for a buffet lunch, which was excellent.
My partner has only been at Surrey Heights 6 weeks or so but I've already seen the love and care shown to her. There have been challenging times and no doubt there'll be more ahead but nothing is too much trouble for the lovely people working there. Hearing her laugh so loud when she is happy makes the 2 hour minimum round trip worthwhile and I can't praise everyone enough Today was sausage roll day and even though my partner didn't physically help she was sat joining in the laughter round the table as we made surprisingly tasty sausage rolls Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making everything as comfortable and pleasant as possible xxx
My husband has been at Surrey Heights for 2 years. Its a Lovey place to be and is a very well run home. The level of care is and compassion is exemplary, from Management and Staff on a day to day basis. A huge thank you to the Wellbeing coordinator who I feel goes above and beyond with daily activities and keeps the residents occupied with Art classes, Baking, walks, games, quizzes, music, dancing parties etc. I am fully informed of any changes with my husband and his well-being. I fully recommend Surrey Hills.
My dear friend has been a resident for 6 months. Each time I visit him he's always clean and well cared for. I have noticed him becoming more settled as time progresses. The staff really do bend over backwards to get to know the residents individually. We are always greeted with a friendly smile and more importantly tea and biscuits. I recently came to the'mad hatters' tea party. What a triumph! It was such a lovely way to connect people. All the staff dressed up and worked so hard to make it special, particularly the home manager and another specific staff member. Everyone had a great time! And lots of chocolate and cake. Thank you
My husband who has early onset dementia has lived in Surrey Heights for six months now. It was a very difficult decision for myself and adult children to make but I know we have made the best decision for my husband in choosing this fantastic care home. All the staff are friendly and caring. They look after my husband and all the residents with exceptional care and kindness. I'm sure I couldn't have found a better care home for my husband. He appears very happy and settled. The activities are excellently run by the wellbeing manager. The home organised a Mad Hatters Tea Party over Easter which was fantastic. Thankyou to all the staff for all your care, friendliness and support you give to the residents and their relatives.
My thanks go to all the staff members at Surrey Heights for their friendly, attentive and helpful style that has enabled my wife to settle into the home quickly. In their challenging work environment, the staff cope well and safely with the various and unique needs of the residents and I'm delighted to say that the regular activities help to create a pleasant and happy atmosphere.
My father has spent about 18 months at Surrey Heights. It was such a hard decision to make, given that as a family we wished to care for him ourselves at home but the reality is that we were not able to. I cannot speak or rate the staff at Surrey Heights highly enough. This is like a second home for us and my father is in the best possible care and hands. The team care for the residents like they are family and really understand their needs, they focus on supporting independence as much as they can for the benefit of those they care for and for as long as they can. The activities are great, a particular staff member gets everyone involved with much patience and perseverance. The highest possible care happens here but more importantly, it's the real care and attention they give to each and every resident. As a family, we are welcome to come to the home any time of day and night and feel very lucky to have this group of wonderful people in my father's life.
It can be very unsettling when you first entrust the care of your loved one to someone else. The team is amazing, friendly, warm and clearly has a tremendous rapport with the residents. Their commitment to providing the best possible care for such a diverse range of residents is truly wonderful. A big thank you to the manager and all the staff for keeping my husband safe, secure, happy and well-fed!
My wife spent two years in pleasant surroundings at Surrey Heights Care Home. During that time, as a frequent visitor, I regarded the love and care that she received from the staff to be unfailingly of the highest quality. From the manager down, the watchwords were always - what is the best for residents and how do we achieve and maintain the very highest standard of care. Despite undergoing building works during that time, every effort was made to ensure that the day-to-day life, comfort and activities of residents were maintained. The very range of activities made available and the efforts made to encourage participation were astonishing. Many events including mock university, prize giving, sing-along, quizzes etc, etc, were available. I was impressed by the good standard of cleanliness and catering and that even wheelchair users were taken for walks in the fresh air. The care home has a very good relationship with the local surgery and health services and those in need are watched over carefully. I cannot praise the dedication of the staff too highly.
A marvellous team that not only cares for the residents wonderfully, they also think of us relatives. I'm always made to feel welcome and much effort goes into the occasional parties that are held so that we can celebrate special times of the year with our loved ones. The residents of course have many other activities going on throughout the year, as it's important to keep them stimulated. My Mum has been living at Surrey Heights for nearly 2 years, and I really feel that the good food and great care she receives have slowed the progression of her dementia. Thanks to you all.
Cleanliness seems to be an issue in the communal area. The strong smell of stale urine is difficult to confront. Meal times are efficiently administered. The staff are friendly and helpful. Friends and relatives of patients are welcomed. Facilities are adequate; however, at present it is a building site. I am certain it will be very good and sufficient for needs once the construction is complete.
This care home is one of the best that I have ever seen. The appointments are a great opportunity to re-connect with Mum and are very well managed. The staff as always, have managed this crisis extremely well, even though I am sure it has impacted on their own lives. Mum looks very well and is looked after to a very high standard, and she speaks very highly of all the staff. She loves being there, which is a great relief to all the family. We are managing to see Mum every week which is vital during normal times, but even more now with Covid-19. Track and trace, social distancing and hand gels are in place and face coverings must be worn, temperatures are also taken so we feel comfortable spending time with Mum. Well done and many thanks to all the staff for making it possible to see Mum again.
My relative appears as happy and contented as anyone with dementia can. When he was assessed he had a Teddy Bear that he gave up his bed for, the manager asked the handyman to build the bear a bed so my relative could sleep in the bed as ted now has his own bed. This small act of thinking outside of the box made all the difference to him. Thank you to the manager.
One of my mother's carers recently had a baby and a member of staff took my mother to visit them which she enjoyed so much. This is just one example of the length the staff will go to enhance the lives of those in their care. My mother has been there two years now and we couldn't be happier with the level of care she has received.
Always feel very welcomed, my grandmother is happy to be there and staff take an interest in her and her needs and treat her as an individual. They make it easy for us to continue to get together as a family and include her. Allowing us to celebrate occasions with her such as her recent birthday and bring along her great-grandchildren, something very important to us.
Very reassured and happy that my Dad is being looked after here as we do not live locally. He has been quite poorly of late and it is a comfort to know that not only are the staff in the home nursing him but also there is a very good rapport with the local GP and District Nurses who provide excellent support. The staff at all levels are very friendly and caring and always welcoming when we arrive usually unannounced but they are never phased by that. It is a credit to the Manager and the team that they have worked together to significantly improve the CQC rating. It is a historic building so the adaptations may not make it quite as good as a modern purpose built home, but it is more like a home from home.
The manager, deputy, and staff at Surrey Heights are professional, respectful and caring towards the residents and their families. They are able to answer questions and provide support and advice. It gives us the greatest sense of comfort to know that Dad is in the safe hands of the Surrey Heights Team. I would wholeheartedly recommend Surrey Heights.
Surrey Heights is always concerned with the residents quality of care and happiness. The staff always go above and beyond for the residents. The residents are always treated with dignity. The management are always available and approachable with any concerns/comments that we have. Since the new management team have been in place the care home has got better and better. The activities coordinator is fantastic, taking the residents on trips, arranging activities and always has a smile on her face no matter what. The facilities provided have also got better and the food is wonderful. The Chef is fantastic, always baking celebration cakes for the residents and the food provided for special events is amazing. Recently the staff organised a Royal Wedding Street Party and it was absolutely amazing. Surrey Heights, thank you so much for looking after my Mum, one of the most precious people in my life. I know that she is safe and care for.
My mother in law joined Surrey Heights in December last year and within a few weeks, the change in her was apparent. She has thrived on the way she is treated by the staff (whom she describes as being "respectful"), on the friendly family atmosphere in the home (which she describes as being like "living with friends") and on the activities, stimulation and delicious food provided every day. Nothing is too much for the carers who treat all the residents with warmth, understanding and respect for each individual's needs. Whenever I visit, there is something interesting going on.... a range of activities, laughter, dancing, music and all residents are noticed, encouraged and made to feel special. I had never imagined a care home could be like this and have been hugely impressed. It is wonderful to know how happy my mother in law is and to know that she is being cared for so well. Thank you to ALL the staff at Surrey Heights who make up such an impressive and caring team.
My mother arrived at Surrey Heights in November. Since she has been a resident, we have all noticed a marked improvement in her general well being and seemingly an improvement in her dementia. My mum is happy, it has been a long while since we heard her laugh. The staff are always friendly and helpful, kind and respectful. Whenever we visit mum, we are always welcomed with refreshments. Mum particularly likes the fact that she can get up when she wishes and there is always a great choice of food on the menu. We are confident that mum is in a safe and caring environment.
