We've just enjoyed a wonderful 90th birthday celebration organised by the team at Surrey Heights for our mother. Mum has been in the Home for 4 months now and we are delighted with the care and support Mum is receiving. Thanks particularly to JP, Claire, Karen, Charlotte and Weather. Sorry I can't mention all the other staff who are looking after Mum on a daily basis but thank you !

Reply from Jean-Pascal Toussaint, Home Manager at Surrey Heights

So pleased to have found Surrey Heights and have now used it several times for respite care for my husband. There is no minimum stay requirement which has been fantastic and enabled me to visit family for long weekends.

It's a lovely home with very kind, caring staff. We are both made to feel very welcome and I have already booked more stays. It is really good to know that my husband is in such a kind, caring environment whilst I get a much needed break from full time caring.

My wife has been in Surrey Heights for about eighteen months, and I have been visiting her every day. In all the time I have been going I have got to know the carers very well and now think of them as my friends. I have been amazed by their sense of humour and infinite patience and the affection they have towards the people in their care.

The home organises fun days. Sometimes an entertainer turns up and I, along with everyone else, get to relive my youth with songs from Elvis and The Beatles.
On special days, the staff set a long table in the dining room that is a joy to see.
Needless to say, I have also gotten to know the other patients, and it is quite normal to see them wander into my wife's bedroom and, after a few minutes, wander out again.

The food they serve is very nice and they even feed me as I am there for a long time.

Being in a home is not fun for anyone, but I am very glad our daughter found Surrey Heights.

I feel very happy to know that my wife is in their care.

Easter Monday was the Easter Party at Surrey Heights and what a lovely party it was. My partner is a resident at Surrey Heights and though she was a bit sleepy this morning news of the party woke her up.
A beautifully laid out table greeted the residents. Food served by care home management and staff was eaten with obvious delight by the residents who were all made to feel special by all the staff including the events co- ordinator who goes above and beyond to make sure the residents are happy
With children invited the atmosphere was lovely and my partner thought they were cute (she's always liked children)
There was then entertainment provided by a lovely couple who sang songs that residents sang along to
One of the staff had a birthday the day before and a surprise cake was made for her to her obvious delight as everyone sang Happy Birthday to her

My partner had a wonderful time and the kindness shown to everyone by management and staff was lovely. To top it off the sun shone too

I wanted to take a moment to share how much we appreciated the team at Surrey Heights. A close family member was cared for there on and off over a couple of months while he was in and out of hospital with various health issues.
He was a proud and independent man who really didn't want to be in a care home, but the team looked after him so incredibly well. It genuinely felt like they were caring for their own family member.
Having had previous experience of care homes, I know how much standards can vary. The investment in Surrey Heights really shows - it's a warm, welcoming environment, and most importantly, he was happy there.
There's a genuine sense of compassion and respect in the way the team care for residents, which makes such a difference to both residents and their families.

He passed away recently, surrounded by family. While there are some concerns around the wider circumstances of his passing, I want to be very clear that none of these relate to the care he received at Su

My wife is content, safe & well cared for at Surrey Heights where she has lived for almost 9 months. All staff are excellent at focusing on those cared for, they are cheerful, accomplished, professional & above all show real concern for the wellbeing of all. I visit at many & various times seeing day to day activities exactly as they are - I'm unfailingly welcomed plus my comfort & needs are clearly important to the staff & also supported by them.
Day to day activities are many & various, organised with enthusiasm & flare by a dedicated Wellbeing Organiser. Entertainers are brought in, specific interesting & fun activities set up, residents birthdays celebrated etc. A current example being a splendid special candlelit Valentine's Day lunch set up for all those who are couples.

Moving my wife into residential care wasn't an easy decision but has proved to have been exactly the right & best thing to do.

My brother and myself travelled from Ireland yesterday to celebrate our sisters birthday with her. The staff went over and beyond to make her day special for all of us. I have to mention one person in in particular, Karen. She did so much for us from sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee. She even had Irish music playing in the background. Karen is a very special lady. Thank you again for making our day.

Thank you, Surrey Heights for giving my Brother a loving home and caring environment; during his first 6 months with you he has enjoyed his time with you and I; as a freqent visitor could not have been made to feel more welcome ; all your Carers are wonderful; lovely food; clean and lovely surroundings and great entertainment to stimulate the residents (and on festive days; their visitors and relatives too!) There have been a couple of inevitably unfortunate unprovoked incidents , but they were sorted out empathetically and sympathetically immediately and I feel my Brother is very well looked after and all his needs met beautifully; thank you so much, Surrey Heights for all your help; sympathy; keeping my Brother safe; happy; looking so much better (and shaven with a Barber on site!! Fantastic!) and always going that extra mile to keep all your residents and their relatives happy and well cared for; a thousand thank yous and I have already and would always happily recommend you.

My father was cared for by the Surrey Heights team for almost 4 years, the staff showed my father a huge amount of love, care and dignity during his time there.

Whenever I came to visit my father, I was greeted with smiley and friendly faces, I was always given the peace of mind that he was safe and receiving the care and support he needed, this was incredibly important to me given the distance I lived from him.

I visited today and was very impressed by the activity that was being carried out for the residents. The entertainment staff were very good even asked if I minded being in any of the photos taken. (Very respectful)

I was then invited to stay for a buffet lunch, which was excellent.

My husband has been at Surrey Heights for 2 years. Its a Lovey place to be and is a very well run home. The level of care is and compassion is exemplary, from Management and Staff on a day to day basis. A huge thank you to the Wellbeing coordinator who I feel goes above and beyond with daily activities and keeps the residents occupied with Art classes, Baking, walks, games, quizzes, music, dancing parties etc. I am fully informed of any changes with my husband and his well-being. My dear friend has been a resident for 6 months. Each time I visit him he's always clean and well cared for. I have noticed him becoming more settled as time progresses. The staff really do bend over backwards to get to know the residents individually. We are always greeted with a friendly smile and more importantly tea and biscuits. I recently came to the'mad hatters' tea party. What a triumph! It was such a lovely way to connect people. All the staff dressed up and worked so hard to make it special, particularly the home manager and another specific staff member. Everyone had a great time! And lots of chocolate and cake. Thank you

My husband who has early onset dementia has lived in Surrey Heights for six months now. It was a very difficult decision for myself and adult children to make but I know we have made the best decision for my husband in choosing this fantastic care home. All the staff are friendly and caring. They look after my husband and all the residents with exceptional care and kindness. I'm sure I couldn't have found a better care home for my husband. He appears very happy and settled. The activities are excellently run by the wellbeing manager. The home organised a Mad Hatters Tea Party over Easter which was fantastic. Thankyou to all the staff for all your care, friendliness and support you give to the residents and their relatives.

My father has spent about 18 months at Surrey Heights. It was such a hard decision to make, given that as a family we wished to care for him ourselves at home but the reality is that we were not able to. I cannot speak or rate the staff at Surrey Heights highly enough. This is like a second home for us and my father is in the best possible care and hands. The team care for the residents like they are family and really understand their needs, they focus on supporting independence as much as they can for the benefit of those they care for and for as long as they can. The activities are great, a particular staff member gets everyone involved with much patience and perseverance. The highest possible care happens here but more importantly, it's the real care and attention they give to each and every resident. As a family, we are welcome to come to the home any time of day and night and feel very lucky to have this group of wonderful people in my father's life.

My wife spent two years in pleasant surroundings at Surrey Heights Care Home. During that time, as a frequent visitor, I regarded the love and care that she received from the staff to be unfailingly of the highest quality. From the manager down, the watchwords were always - what is the best for residents and how do we achieve and maintain the very highest standard of care. Despite undergoing building works during that time, every effort was made to ensure that the day-to-day life, comfort and activities of residents were maintained. The very range of activities made available and the efforts made to encourage participation were astonishing. Many events including mock university, prize giving, sing-along, quizzes etc, etc, were available. I was impressed by the good standard of cleanliness and catering and that even wheelchair users were taken for walks in the fresh air. The care home has a very good relationship with the local surgery and health services and those in need are watched over carefully. I cannot praise the dedication of the staff too highly.

A marvellous team that not only cares for the residents wonderfully, they also think of us relatives. I'm always made to feel welcome and much effort goes into the occasional parties that are held so that we can celebrate special times of the year with our loved ones. The residents of course have many other activities going on throughout the year, as it's important to keep them stimulated.

My Mum has been living at Surrey Heights for nearly 2 years, and I really feel that the good food and great care she receives have slowed the progression of her dementia. Thanks to you all.
