Situated in the quiet village of Wormley and overlooking acres of natural beauty, Surrey Heights is a privately owned care home that offers residential care for 39 older people living with dementia.

Located next to the famous King Edward's school, Surrey Heights is a large, detached 19th-century Victorian building set in acres of mature south-facing grounds. It was also the former country house of famed novelist and poet, George Eliot, and retains its original blue plaque. Its original features include a blue wedgewood ceiling in the main lounge, and a billiards room with distinctive wall panelling.

Care is always delivered with respect, dignity and kindness, and is primarily focused on specialist dementia care (organic and induced). Secondary focus is on respite, residential dementia and nursing care.

Acquired by CHD Living in 1989, the home is one of a number of others run by the group in picturesque Surrey. Surrey Heights provides high-quality service in a friendly environment, so that all residents can live their lives, their way.

Residents at Surrey Heights enjoy a range of individually tailored activities and outings, and have a choice of spaces in which to relax - including comfortable lounges, a library and conservatory. Residents can enjoy a pamper, too, with access to the on-site hairdressing and nail salon.

With a choice of comfortable, single rooms and easy access to the internet, residents can enjoy a private, cosy space in which to connect with loved ones.

To support and enhance the dementia care provided, planning is currently in place to modernise and develop a dementia care village.

My mother in law joined Surrey Heights in December last year and within a few weeks, the change in her was apparent. She has thrived on the way she is treated by the staff (whom she describes as being "respectful"), on the friendly family atmosphere in the home (which she describes as being like "living
with friends") and on the activities, stimulation and delicious food provided every day.
Nothing is too much for the carers who treat all the residents with warmth, understanding and respect for each individual's needs. Whenever I visit, there is something interesting going on.... a range of activities, laughter, dancing, music and all residents are noticed, encouraged and made to feel special.
I had never imagined a care home could be like this and have been hugely impressed. It is wonderful to know how happy my mother in law is and to know that she is being cared for so well. Thank you to ALL the staff at Surrey Heights who make up such an impressive and caring team.

My mother arrived at Surrey Heights in November. Since she has been a resident, we have all noticed a marked improvement in her general well being and seemingly an improvement in her dementia.
My mum is happy, it has been a long while since we heard her laugh.
The staff are always friendly and helpful,
kind and respectful.
Whenever we visit mum, we are always welcomed with refreshments.
Mum particularly likes the fact that she can get up when she wishes and there is always a great choice of food on the menu.
We are confident that mum is in a safe and caring environment.

All the staff are lovely and very caring at Surrey Heights. Nothing is too much trouble. The residents are treated with utmost respect. Some residents are taken out on trips, something I never had the time to do. I for one can't fault Surrey Heights.

My mother has only been at Surrey Heights for a few weeks but I have been impressed with the care that she has received after being discharged from hospital and unable to return to her previous care home. The manager is positive, proactive and approachable and her staff are friendly and appear very
caring. I like the relaxed, homely atmosphere and have enjoyed seeing the residents stimulated and having fun with the activities provided for them. It is lovely to see the staff interacting with the residents and quite impressed at their cheerful disposition in often difficult situations. The menus and food look appetizing and I can personally vouch for the homemade cakes! My mother, who was quite under-weight, is now looking much healthier.

My Mum has only been in care for a short while and it took myself and my brother a while before finding a decent care home.
When we visited Surrey Heights we were pleasantly surprised. The surroundings, the people, everything about it just seemed
right. Now my Mum has been there a while she has put
weight back on and is much brighter than she was at home all alone.
I would certainly rate Surrey Heights above and beyond the other care homes we saw in the area. We feel we made the right choice for our Mum. The management and staff are just wonderful people.

I haven't been here very long but I have found the staff very helpful indeed. Especially the management. The food is very nice and there is plenty of it. There is a good vibe about the place. It is set in nice surroundings.
