My wife has been in Whitegates since 14/11/25 while I had a heart operation and recovered from same. She suffers from Vascular Dementia and I have not been able to care for her while I recover. I have only ever heard good things about Whitegates and my expectations have been fully met. The management
and staff are excellent and this was demonstrated by the Christmas Lunch to which family were invited and which completely exceeded my expectations. The staff were superb. The lunch was typical of the care that residents receive. Fully recommended Whitegates as a home for relatives.
Reply from Josh Barlow, Home Manager at Whitegates Nursing HomeThank you Paul for leaving us a review. The team and I are very happy to hear that both you and your wife are happy with the care and support being provided during her time at Whitegates.

I was totally amazed with the Home with how they helped my aunt celebrate her 100th birthday. It was such a lovely day for her, which she enjoyed. Inviting the family to visit and a planned afternoon tea prepared for her and us was a big surprise. With all the balloons, banners, flowers and cards, and
the huge birthday cake was incredible.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother, who has advanced Alzheimers, has been at Brownscombe for more than three years. She has received very good care and I am very grateful to the staff for all the kindness with which my mother is treated. The carers and nursing staff show great respect and affection for her and look after her
needs, personal and medical, very well. The management is responsive and helpful and our family are very impressed with all the knowledge and experience that the new clinical lead brings to her role. She has gained a great understanding of our mother's needs which is evident in the care she and her team provides. The wellbeing staff members are also excellent, providing a wide variety of activities for the residents and contributing to the positive vibe. I pay tribute to the kitchen staff for the quality of food that they provide, which my mother enjoys. I would also like to thank the cleaning and laundry staff for all they contribute.
Reply from Kevin Lorimer, Head of Hotel Services at Brownscombe Care ResidencesThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. We are truly touched by your kind words about our team and the care your mother receives at Brownscombe. It means a great deal to know that our carers, nursing staff, and wellbeing team have made a positive impact on her comfort and happiness.
We are also delighted that you've recognised the efforts of our new clinical lead and the wider staff - from management to kitchen, cleaning, and laundry - as everyone plays an important part in creating a warm and supportive environment. Your appreciation will be shared with the whole team, who will be so pleased to know their dedication is valued.
Thank you again for your trust and for being part of our Brownscombe community.

Even though my wife was only in the rehabilitation centre for a week, the staff at all times were very friendly and extremely caring.
At all levels from the managers to the nursing staff, every one was extremely helpful, and went out of their way to assist in any way they could. The main reason my
wife was a resident was to receive physiotherapy, and the service she received in that respect was fantastic.

Always made to feel very welcome. The care home is always very clean. The residents are all very well looked after by all members of staff. A variation of activities take place throughout the week for all residents to enjoy.

As a resident, I feel very fortunate to live at Crest Lodge. My best friend Beth & my social worker Annette made sure that I was in the best place for me with the best care possible. This is exactly what I want and get from living here. All the staff are so genuine, very gentle and always very helpful.
My room is so good and very clean. All the place is always very clean and welcoming. The best is the food, amazing, incredible, so delicious. I love it all so much. Thank you so much for looking after me so well. Best regards.
