View full details of Thornton HillMy mother was cared for with kindness, helpfulness and professionalism for almost 4 years, including the final days of her life in April 2023. I couldn't recommend Thornton Hill more highly - it's a warm and caring place, where my mother felt safe and well looked after in every respect.
Everyone is doing an excellent job, Mum is very happy and well looked after and entertained. Unfortunately, the rooms do need work and are looking shabby.
Mum has been here for over a year now and is very settled. We know she is well looked after and very comfortable at Thornton Hill. Everyone here is friendly and helpful and every effort is made to make my mum happy and comfortable. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The last thing you want is for your loved one to go into a care home but every single member of staff is caring and take time to make it a home from home.
My mother has been a resident of Thornton Hill for over 2 years and I feel that she has been very well cared for throughout her stay in a safe environment. All the staff I have come across are very caring, cheerful and patient and show genuine concern for her wellbeing. The management/administrative team are very approachable and a great source of help for residents' relatives.
My time spent with my neighbour and friend at Thornton Hill is very good. She is well cared for. The staff are very caring and she has great interaction with them. The staff go above and beyond and are in contact with her family to keep them updated with her care. She likes to stay in her room so I am not sure what activities she joins in with. Perhaps if it is a crossword or sheet activity, they could bring one to her room.
I only have praise for all that the staff do for Mum, in very difficult circumstances at times, due to her Alzheimers. I would certainly recommend Thornton Hill.
My Father has been a resident for a little over six months now and has had no problems whatsoever. He regularly reports back that he is well cared for and looked after and that the food is excellent. As his son, I am updated on a regular basis and free to phone up at any time whatsoever. All the staff I find courteous and professional and have built up a good, trusting relationship with them. The only drawback is due to the pandemic, visiting over the last six months has obviously been touch and go but these are unprecedented times and obviously no fault of the care home.
Comments are based on limited knowledge of the care home due to Covid-19 restrictions. Overall good impressions of the home and people. Hopefully, as restrictions ease visiting will be easier and require less admin.
Very happy with all the services and interactions I have had with all the staff. Every staff member is kind and considerate. All are attentive and seem to be great problem solvers. The building is kept spotless.
We live 250 miles away from the home, however, they are extremely good at keeping us informed of any problems. My stepmother has severe dementia so not easy to deal with and look after and the staff do a magnificent job caring for her.
Aunty has been a resident since April this year and her care is faultless. Any concerns are brought to my attention immediately and when I do email for any reason they are always answered with a friendly reply. Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff have an amazing work ethos.
Mum moved into Thornton Hill just as the Covid pandemic started so close visits have been rather restricted but have always been held in a safe environment. Mum appears settled and speaks very highly of the care that she receives, commenting on how friendly and helpful they are. From my contact, I also find the staff in the same way despite the recent trying times. I feel that the care given has improved Mum's quality of life as prior to her moving into Thornton Hill there were frequent calls from her home for emergency doctors to attend her and subsequent hospital admissions. However, in the last fifteen months or so there have been no such issues reported. If there are any problems, staff are quick to inform of the matter of concern and advise of any action needed or taken.
Mum was taken into Thornton Hill for palliative care on a fast track NHS continuing health care which meant that the fees were covered by the NHS. This was in place of hospice, hospital or home hare. Mum never wanted to go into a residential care home but recognised that this was becoming necessary for her own safety and our own inability to offer the level of care she was beginning to need. Thornton Hill showed real care for her during her brief stay. They were able to help her get up and dressed and even sit at table in the dining room showing her real respect. Sadly she died a few days after she arrived. On her last day she was in bed and staff continued to show her care and affection as they also did to me. I needed to leave late evening but staff remained with her until she died in the night. Everyone showed her the care and respect that she should have had. Our only sadness is that she did not live long enough for us to fully appreciate what Thornton Hill clearly offers.
We were able to go into Thornton Hill to see my mum for the first time recently. We were lateral flow tested prior to being allowed entry and asked to wear personal protective equipment. It all felt very well organised and safe, both for my mum and also for ourselves. Despite all the difficulties recently the staff and carers at Thornton Hill have provided a wonderful safe and secure environment and still given excellent care to the residents. My mum was bright and cheerful and looked really well, and smart and tidy. She couldn't speak highly enough of everyone and said how well she was being looked after. A big well done to everyone, and thank you all.
Mum depends upon the care and commitment of staff for her mental and physical needs which she gets daily. Highly anxious, she gets reassurance and encouragement to participate in activities and events although sadly declines most due to her condition. Staff keep me informed and genuinely care for her well-being which I and my sisters are very grateful for as her mental health is extremely fragile. The home is welcoming, clean and tidy whenever we visit and compared to the many homes we looked at prior to this, far exceeds on many levels.
I cannot praise this place enough. My mum's life has been massively changed for the better, and that means the world to me. Every single aspect of this place is exactly as you would want it to be. The level of care and kindness I have encountered from every member of staff is outstanding. I cannot imagine how hard it been for all the staff these last few months. A massive thank you for all you do, and a huge round of applause to the manager. Outstanding, above and beyond. Mum is safe, clean, happy, well-feed, and busy; they're always doing something! She sometimes can't talk on the phone for long, because she's in a rush to get back to her lovely new friends and sing-songs! All aspects of her care are just as I would want for my precious mum.
Thornton Hill is a caring and friendly care home. Mum has been there for over four years now and their care for her is wonderful. They keep me informed regularly and don’t just care for the residents but the whole family. I miss seeing mum at the moment but also miss all the cheerful staff. At least I can FaceTime mum which is better than wearing masks.
I totally agree with the statement made by Thornton Hill. I have found the staff to be extremely caring and very helpful. My friend's room is excellent and well furnished. I am always made welcome when I visit and the staff have always time to talk. Nothing is too much trouble for them. If anything is amiss I am contacted immediately.
I’m extremely happy with the care that my mother is receiving. Both management and team leaders are always willing to talk to me and my brother, they are always in contact with us if there’s a problem or a concern. We couldn’t wish for anywhere better.
Mum moved to Thornton Hill in 2019 having previously lived in another care home. She has dementia and as her condition grew worse it was apparent that she needed to be in an environment that could support as her needs changed. She settled very quickly due in part to the very small group of residents that she lives with and the homely feel of her surroundings.
