View Full Details of HeathermountMy mum has been living at Heathermount for over two years now, and I can see that she feels very at home and at peace there. She loves her spacious room where she can comfortably have family and friends around her, but more recently she has started to spend a little more time in the company of others in the lounge where she enjoys the crafts, discussions, exercises and outings that the activities worker Cheryl arranges, and the singalongs with George the visiting pianist. All the staff mix professionalism with real warmth and care for the residents; everyone is treated as an individual and their little ways and foibles respected. There is a lovely vibe at Heathermount which you don't find in some of the larger, smarter looking care homes; Heathermount looks and feels like a family home where everyone is cherished and valued. The staff never miss an opportunity to celebrate - anything, and the food is always great, genuine home cooking along with new dishes for the residents to try!
Nothing in life is perfect! However Heathermount is a welcome and friendly establishment. Staff and management, give of their best.
All staff are exceptional, dedicated and caring - if there are problems (which there will be anywhere) they are always resolved effectively and efficiently. Nothing is too much trouble, and Mum is always treated with the utmost dignity. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have Mum safely in the arms of the Heathermount family
My friend has been here now for over 2 years and has been well looked after by friendly staff. She settled in very quickly and regards it as her home where she feels safe. She enjoys the activities particularly singing with the pianist when he comes. She had a worrying period of very poor health requiring hospital admission. The director of the group was very supportive and helpful in getting her back to the home.
Gramps was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2021 and he managed to stay in his bungalow for 12 months with care and support. He was a stubborn man as people know and he was still independent till the age of 92 however it did come to a time where he needed more support. Gramps moved into Heathermount Care Home in 2022 and as you would expect we were anxious as a family over this. Well, what can I say. The love and care he received from the home was second to none. He was treated with the utmost respect, and I cannot thank the staff enough for what they did for our Gramps. Even to the very end, he was treated with such dignity that we as a family will be forever in their debt. You treated us like family, and we felt the home was our second home. I know you will miss him too and that is a true testament to the impact our Gramps had on people. I will miss hearing the stories you would tell us of his mischievous behaviour which again I cannot repeat out loud!
We have all been happy with the care my dad has received over the last 3 years. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and the home is very clean and tidy which is important to my Dad. My dad mostly manages self-care as he likes to be as independent as possible but the staff are always on hand to help if needed. I have put don’t know for activities as my dad chooses not to get involved in them. He mainly stays in his room but does venture to the dining room for meals.
Since my mum has been a resident at Heathermount, the love and care shown to her by staff has ensured her initial insecurities were overcome, and she now refers to it as 'her home' and 'her girls.' Her current situation has displayed exemplary professionalism, care, and attention from the staff towards both Mum and her family, ensuring a very difficult time for us all has been met with both dignity and empathy. For which we are very thankful.
The staff at Heathermount demonstrated the utmost devotion and care throughout my mother's stay. They became her friends and was made to feel as special to them as she is to us her family. Every member of the team went above and beyond their call of duty. They extended their care to us her family after she suffered a stroke and returned from hospital to Heathermount for palliative care. We will be forever grateful for the exemplary care they gave to Mum and our family. Thank you.
My dad stayed at Heathermount for a week's respite, having only ever accessed this at a previous care home for the first time, which had been a shocking experience. Straight away, I felt reassured that Heathermount was going to be different and that Dad would be cared for. The day and night staff were consistent which helped Dad to build friendly relationships straight away. Although Dad became anxious about not being at home for an evening, the staff team did an expert job of distracting him to help him settle. I really can't say enough about how they treated Dad, their patience, care, humour, kindness...they really did all they could to help him feel settled and safe. It is a struggle to find respite care for a week, 6 times a year but Heathermount has assured me that they will do all they can to accommodate these weeks if they have availability. I really don't want him to go anywhere else. A fantastic place!
My father Fred has been in Heathermount since October 2022 and I honestly didn't think he would settle as quickly as he has. The staff at Heathermount are absolutely amazing in every way that they care for my dad. They have given him a new lease of life at 93 years young and the company has made such a difference in his life. The food the residents receive at Heathermount is first class and the cook has a wonderful relationship with them all. Caring about all the dietary requirements. The activity lady who attends three days a week is a breath of fresh air who also cares about all the resident's needs keeping their daily activities enjoyable. I would like to give a special thank you to three staff members who always make me feel relaxed when visiting my lovely Dad. Once again thanks for all support.
We moved Mum to this home after being initially dissatisfied with her previous care home. Her room is lovely, and the staff are brilliant with Mum. The biggest difference is the level of care, hygiene, food and comfort is so much better in Heathermount than her previous home. Mum would not mix with other residents at the previous home, but here the staff do their best to integrate her with the residents which they have had some success with. Heathermounts staff keep on top of Mum’s medication and Mum seems to be benefiting as a result. Thank you.
Heathermount is the perfect balance of warmth and professionalism. We visited many care homes, searching for people we could trust to give mum a great quality of life. The Heathermount team, from day one, welcomed us and settled mum incredibly well. It’s an emotional pull placing someone you love into care but Heathermount is different; it feels like we are visiting mum in her own home. There’s always a warm welcome when we visit. We can rely on mum being impeccably dressed, her room is fresh and clean and a variety of activities taking place. It’s heartwarming seeing mum chatting, laughing and hugging her carers, they get her - her humour, and her food preferences, they know her little needs (like her favourite cup and hot water bottle at bedtime) and they serve the big needs; our family is informed regularly on health and welfare matters which are acted upon swiftly. We feel mum is in safe hands and making happy memories at Heathermount. Sincerely thankful for this home from home.
My brother was looked after at Heathermount following a 6 week stay in hospital for an acute bladder and kidney infection. He has long standing mental health difficulties and before going into hospital he would rarely go out and had no contact with other people. The staff and residents provided amazing care for him and it enabled him to interact with others in a way I had not seen for a very long time. He felt extremely well looked after while he was there and with this support he has been enabled to return home and he is now assuring me that he realises that he does need to tell people if he needs help and will let other people help him. I don’t live locally and it was a real relief to know he was being cared for so well.
Very friendly home. The staff are absolutely fantastic. The care and support of the residents are at the core of the home's ethos. Can fully recommend it.
Amazing and outstanding levels of kindness, care and support for both Mum and her immediate family under the most difficult of circumstances in Covid times. Careful assessment of Mum's needs and making time to get to know her personally, staff have offered her a completely new lease of life with a future to embrace, enjoy and thrive. The setting is very homely, beautifully presented, friendly and comfortable, with delicious meals and a great number and variety of activities to enjoy. Lots of laughter, singing and fun!
Exceptional service for my mother who has dementia and memory loss. However, the abilities of the staff and carers to see her condition and respond with their skills to bring out the best of her sociable character has been first-rate. The comfort and confidence this provides to my family is unfathomable.
My Dad lived at Heathermount for seven and a half years following a several week stay in hospital. He was very happy there and used to spontaneously tell me this at regular intervals. The love, care and emotional support that he received there was brilliant. Staff were very respectful of his dignity at all times but also knew when and how to encourage him, which was very reassuring for me as his only daughter. They were always helpful and supportive to me. Heathermount was originally a large family house in the middle of Heswall and therefore it retains a homely atmosphere whilst having all the adjustments that one would expect. It is ideally situated for residents who are able to go out alone as the shops, banks, bus station are all only a few minutes walk. Heathermount came into our lives at just the right moment and I will always be grateful to them.
Heathermount is a small homely cosy home with a family feeling. I have been here for 5 1/2 years and knew from the beginning that this was the kind of home for me. The staff are loyal, kind and caring and will do anything to help. The food is excellent and the cook is special. I feel very contented and happy to be here and hope this will be my forever home.
Right from the time we looked at Heathermount, we were struck by the welcome, the friendliness of staff they were helpful, nothing too much trouble. My mother settled in straight away. She has been there since June 2017 - she is treated with respect, great care and especially since Coronavirus, they never mind when I phone up to enquire after her. It is a very homely, warm place and I would have no hesitation in recommending it. I do often!
It all happened. Mam needed to be cared for. I live on the Wirral, my brother lives in Surrey, Mam lived in Co. Durham. The vicious circle of "fall, paramedics, A&E, respite, home, fall, paramedics, A&E, etc, etc" took Mam on a journey that made for a sad life. Serendipity stepped in, along with an opportunity for Mam to move to the Wirral and land in a space at Heathermount. Mam's face lit up when we announced to her that she was moving south. At 89 years old, her twilight years instantly got better. We all love Heathermount - full stop.
